Has come out to say her long term relationship is over and it very much looks like he had a wandering eye and she found out.

She posted a video on Instagram and has done an interview to say once the trust is gone it has to be over.

I really like her, I think she's smart and funny and do feel sorry for her. She has dealt with it really well though. It's easy to say LTB but when it comes down to it that can be hard to do, especially when you've been together a long time.

Really hoping she finds happiness in the future!

Read this earlier and thought it was sad, she deserved much better.
I think she’s fab, eloquent and warm and none of that faux airhead thing women on tv seem to think they need to do now.

I’ve listened to Vanessa for years, it’s like she is a friend to me. I also felt something was off with Ben and that Vanessa made a lot of compromises in their relationship.

He comes across as vain and not the brightest bulb, Vanessa needs a razor sharp intellect to bounce off. I hope she knows how much love there is out here for her.

I love Vanessa. Warm, quick witted, funny, intelligent, eloquent but also very normal which is unusual that she hasn't lost any of that over the years.
She WAS punching and I never thought he was her 'mind' equal and I think he knew it.
Vanessa, there's a lot to be said for singledom!

I like her - hope she gets over it before too long.

Some years back in an interview when talking about the end of her marriage she said she'd had a phone call from a woman journalist wanting to talk about the recent separation from her husband. Vanessa said something along the lines of she didn't want to talk as things were delicate and they were trying to work things out and were having a trial separation - the journalist said, you do know he's having an affair don't you? Poor VF had no idea what he was up to.

I saw her a couple of times on the Tube as she lives locally. I adore the woman and told her fab she looked. She was so down to earth. Listening to her on BBC London was like listening to a friend - so incredibly articulate, intelligent yet so warm and humane.

I know, I listened to a bit of it again yesterday - where she is talking about Ben and how they have nothing in common but it still works. It's such a fascinating insight into her life and all the shit she had to deal with with the first husband - that darlek voice bit! Crazy!

The whole podcast series is good. The Mel C episode is good too.

I'm so surprised by all the VF love. She has always seemed a bit fake to me, I prefer a presenter that comes across as if they are being themselves, and she comes across like she is playing for the audience. Heading said that, I have actively avoiding watching her for years, so maybe she has improved over time.

But it's sad when a relationship breaks down, and from what people on here are saying, it seems like she is dealing with it in a very dignified way, despite the fact that he has been an arse.

They were together for a very long time. There was definitely a lot of lust in the early years as she would often discuss publicly!

I think VF is fab and I'm sorry that she's going through this.

I've been on Mumsnet for about 17 years and I don't think I've ever seen a post with such universal admiration for someone in the media as this one. It goes to show how well respected she is.

I hope VF sees this thread but I suspect she will be staying away from reading about herself which is pretty sensible I guess.

Highly intellegent and articulated woman. classy and fun ...I never ever did get why she let him piggyback his way through life on her coat tails. I hope she is really ok.She is a sensible woman so I think she will deal with it quite well. He is a prat of the highest order.

I'm really sad this has happened to her again.

Hopefully she'll have a huge amount of support from her many friends and her gorgeous daughters. As well as her many fans, most of whom seem to be on MN. She's been such a great role model on the radio: never dumbing down, always being her articulate, intelligent self. I really miss her on the radio and hope the TV show is going well. Like most of you, I've always secretly felt that if we knew each other we'd be great pals!
