Jack Monroe flounced from Twitter - Again

This time it looks like she was caught out in regard to addiction faking.

She posted a photo claiming they were of her recovery chip thingies and it was noted that 1 of them was for Cocaine Anonymous and another was for Narcotics anonymous.

She'd denied cocaine use earlier.

Early January she was in the Guardian saying she'd blown to s of donated money on Drink, tramadol and Cotswolds sideboards.
Seems the oddities of her stories are catching up with her.

Well i am autistic and have adhd and im not furious about her saying she has it, because she absolutely comes across as though she does. Blatantly.

I agree with this in principle, but equally it's very difficult to be magnanimous when she's giving actually autistic/ADHD people a bad name and has countless proven lies - which includes taking money off lovely, decent people who have fuck all themselves but just want to help someone they think is in need.

I used to think she was harmless then I read through a very long blog entry, all backed up with links, screenshots and facts, and actually, she's just your everyday fraudster. It's funny her mental health issues only flare up causing her to take a break from social media when she's been found out.

What's cuntish is getting a kick out suicide baiting to your half million followers.

A lot of people are very invested in this woman and her story. They find it hard to accept that she has been at the best exceptionally economical with the truth and at the worst lying through her teeth, because accepting that means they also have to accept she's conned them, and they don't like admitting that. Many have bought into Jack Monroe's anti-government ranting and seem to think that not supporting Monroe 100% means you support austerity, or poverty or whatever.

She spins a good tale of being behind all sorts of initiatives and changes in policy but when you dig deeper, none of it is true.

She needs to use her time away from social media to get the mental health support she clearly needs and reassess everything.

Claiming your shitty behaviour can be explained away by your autism is giving autistic people a bad name, how can you think otherwise? Baffling...

She relies on people affirming her own Google diagnosing, some fall into this trap.
She's a scattergun of personalities and maladies and people that actually have a diagnosis and share those personality traits and diagnosis find them selves defending her as they believe she is 'like them' , she isn't.

With an audience that size, like it or not she has a responsibility to not talk absolute shit though.

I’m not that familiar with this person, or invested, but this bit stood out to me. That is how arthritis is. Whether or not she suffers from arthritis is unknown to me and irrelevant really, but that is literally how arthritis is. I can be walking my dog six miles a day, lifting heavy boxes and doing a 10k run one week and then, quite suddenly, completely unable to even get out of bed or unable to use my hands to open a jam jar. The fact that so many people don’t understand the nature of arthritis for some of us is extremely irritating and makes it harder to navigate normal life in the workplace and social situations knowing that there’s an acceptable view that ‘you can’t be that bad if you’re able to walk a dog’.

Agree, she comes across as a lying, narcissist who shamelessly presents herself as a poverty stricken struggling single parent. Very far from the truth.

Anyway, my biggest issue with her is the grifting. She wrote a blog in July claiming that she’s still so poor that she hooks soap to make shower gel and hasn’t bought shampoo in 2 years. She put a handy little link to her personal paypal account at the bottom, knowing full well she will get donations. In that 2 years her own social media shows her purchasing luxury furniture, clothing and handbags, multiple haircuts/colours with the director of Toni and Guy etc. She then admitted in her Guardian interview that the boiling soap etc was just research for her upcoming book.
She hasn’t delivered on her patreon for over 2 years. Whether this is down to her ADHD or not, she could have paused subscriptions at any point, knowing that she couldn’t deliver. She chose not to do so, and sent abusive messages to anyone asking for their goods or a refund, before blocking them. ADHD or not, that’s shitty behaviour and if you do that sort of thing in the public eye, you should expect to be called out on it.
There are many many other such examples of her soliciting cash donations then not following through on the promises re what she will do for the money, but far too much to go into here.
She needs to get off Twitter (for good) and get a job.

The not delivering on patreon for 2 years thing.

Of the 500-700 people were all donating between 3.50 a month and 44 a month, for example sake I'll say £20 a month and 600 people.
600people x £20 = £12000
£12000 x = £288000
That won't be the actual figure, it's possible it's higher, possible it's lower, but that's a hell of an income for doing nothing.

People have asked for clarity and she's refused. I believe there is even a setting in patreon that you can toggle to show how.much people are donating a month.

If she's clearly not delivered her patron promises don't patron have a mechanism for dealing with that? Surely if they'd had sufficient complaints they'd have shut her account down?

They claim not to get involved with disputes and all issues have to be taken up with the creator. Hence a number of people now taking her to the small claims court.

Pretty sure she has undiagnosed BPD or similar.

Drugs, sudden mood swings, big identity changes, attention seeking and perpetual victim status.

There are a dedicated group of people that 'hate' her and hound her on Twitter and Tattle. There actually isn't that many of them. They just post a lot ... almost like bots.

The Tattle-MN-Twitter thing is quite interesting. The genuine insistence on Tattle that these threads aren't started and populated by Tattlers, and the same for Twitter, when it's clear to anyone looking that it's the same group of people talking to each other in different locations.

I don't mind Tattle, it can be very funny (including the Jack Monroe thread) and is more interactive than here, but the longer threads go the more intense the core gets. Once you're paying to buy people's wills, you probably do need a moment of self-reflection.

Jack Monroe is a right mess though, no denying that. She's flounced on and off Twitter for the last decade. Plus ca change.

I have autism and ADHD and it’s not a get out of jail free card. I still have responsibilities, but a lot of “celebs” do things like Patreon and Only Fans and never bother to post content. It’s fairly easy to cancel if you aren’t happy with the service you’re getting.

I think people get too carried away with this stuff. I don’t really take stuff that is posted on Twitter, Instagram, etc., seriously.

It’s all a bit crazy really.

This is quite interesting to browse. Her patreon numbers are falling off a cliff and they currently sit at just under 500. By graphtreon's estimates she is making between 1-4k dollars a month, but when you look at the rewards that she promises, IF she is delivering them, she is barely making any profit. It's not a good business model.

She isn’t delivering them, she has admitted to that. She didn’t deliver a single thing from November 2020 until December 2022, by her own admission. She now claims to have sent some postcards out in December, but so far no one has claimed to have received them.
But you’re right, if she had delivered the things she promised she’d have made very little profit, if any. Sending physical rewards would never have made any sense.
