Such as "Give my head a wobble" and "Holibobs", neither of which I have ever heard IRL.

Hot choc
Cherry toms
Baked pots
Veggies

And the chucking, lobbing, throwing and bunging of all food

ChamberLink · 12/01/2023 19:38

I can't stand
Give your head a wobble - such a ridiculous expression
Nest of vipers - irritates the life out of me

SnowyPetals · 12/01/2023 19:39

Describing likelihoods as "vanishingly small". Oh sod off with your smug projections!

userxx · 12/01/2023 19:41

Makes my teeth itch
Boils my piss

I've always used makes my teeth itch. I love it.

liveforsummer · 12/01/2023 19:55

Everything and everyone is 'on its/their knees' at the moment and it's starting to annoy me. Never seen anyone collapsed to their knees irl!

TheShellBeach · 12/01/2023 09:56

Anyhoo.
It isn't even a word.

It is in Scotland 😆. And I agree no one uses holibobs except when complaining about it.

TheShellBeach · 12/01/2023 20:05

Fur Babies.
Although that's not just MN.

I live in Scotland and I've never seen this.
It really isn't a word.

Veg/Veggies.
Just NO.

Maybe it's regional but anyhow is how I'd say it but people accuse me of sounding posh 😆

Must be very local. It's not a word I hear very often but when I do it's anyhow. But I can't speak for the whole country just my area

BettyUnderswoob · 12/01/2023 20:23

Oh, I can hardly bring myself to write it, but the one I hate most is:

Fanny gallops 🤮🤮🤮🤮

So revoltingly course and crass. I always assume the writer of that phase is an uneducated vulgarian who picks their nose and burps loudly.

WWGDD · 12/01/2023 20:29

Are you on glue? Wasn't even funny on the original thread.

See I'd say that to you on purpose, right after I'd belched really loudly. Belching is scored out of five. This would need a solid four to create the most horror.

Grin
DerekFaker · 12/01/2023 20:34

Head tilt.

You don't tilt your head at people in real life, you know you don't. You'd look a bit weird.

liveforsummer · 12/01/2023 20:36

I'm from the borders originally and its fairly well used at least it was, in either form (how or hoo depending how broad the accent was) .One of my best friends originates from Shetland and says Onyhoo rather than Anyhoo so probably a lot of variations of the word.

Username721 · 12/01/2023 14:04

On the Royal Family threads:

”William isn’t that sort of person, he’s a reflective thinker and takes his time to come to decisions”

”Charles is very upset about Harry’s book”

”Kate loves being a Mum, that’ll forever be her favourite title. Her & Charlotte are inseparable”

Do you know them? If not, why are you posting like they’re your friends/family? You don’t have some insider knowledge.

Oh my god I can't stand it. It's so sycophantic. It makes me queasy.

Meh, I'd mind that a lot less than that horrible phrase!

Indeed, but it is actually spelt "anyhow", no matter how it's pronounced.

Worriedmum40284 · 12/01/2023 21:07

Honestly?... as the start of someone's post. I don't get it, of course people what an honest response! Also sets it up for an unpopular opinion to follow, but what's said is normally uncontroversial.

homehaircut · 12/01/2023 21:21

'I've found my people' - have you really?

liveforsummer · 12/01/2023 21:22

Indeed, but it is actually spelt "anyhow", no matter how it's pronounced.

All depends- sometimes people like to type in dialect, often works better to set the tone or adds to humour. Same as people get really cross at things like 'yous' but is perfectly legitimate in many Scots dialects.
