Adverts that make you want to avoid the product

I can't stand the new Zoopla adverts, they really make me cringe. That said, I won't actually stop looking at it (surely everyone already knows that that's how you can be nosey about what your neighbours are selling their houses for).

However ... I will never consider buying Daisy by Marc Jacobs, because the advert makes me want to scream. Also, my mum won't ever by Muller products because she hated one of their ads so much.

On the beach. That boy is an arsehole.

Yes! The little shit.. when he is licking the icecream I just want to through him into the deep end!

I sometimes wonder if the purpose of an advert isn’t so much as to “like” it, but to “remember” it.

Yes, we're talking about these adverts, therefore they've worked.

always2ndbest · 08/01/2023 12:42

Dominoes pizza.... the yodelling makes me want to glue my ears shut!

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 08/01/2023 12:42

The bloody Jones Road shimmery foundation thing, in a huge round tub. It’s by Bobbi brown (on her own company) and they use the most beautiful women to advertise it, and all the posters comment “it’s awful” with no responses by the company! makes me roll my eyes a little when beautiful women claim a product is a life saver. Sure!

Yes, we're talking about these adverts, therefore they've worked.

Not necessarily. There have been many ad campaigns that have generated a lot of talk but been disastrous for the brand.

VirginiaQ · 08/01/2023 12:45

Agree with Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

I still hold a long standing refusal to buy MCCain's oven chips. There was a series with horrible brats screaming I want chips and then being asked who they loved more, 'Daddy or chips'. Horrible advert.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 08/01/2023 12:46

The Reed advert! Oh dear god that is so awful 😱

Flash floor cleaning ad, the one where the dog sings! DS can’t even watch it 🤣

You know what, I watch that and think, 'That's such a bloke way of cleaning, isn't it? don't pick stuff like stools and bins off the floor, just clean around it!'

Pure Cremations
The security one with the awful acting
The one that says in stentorian accents 'That's right, you go noseblind!'
Daisy Daisy
The holiday one with the wife leaping into the pool and the little boy with the ice cream

See, they're so bad i can't even recall what they are advertising!

Jet2 holidays. Most annoying song ever

Darling hold my hand!!
I can't explain why I hate it so much!

Jacksfesteringresentment · 08/01/2023 12:51

Snag tights -glorify male fetishes.

Yes, we're talking about these adverts, therefore they've worked.

Technically that's true but any I haven't heard of mentioned here won't make me want to go and find them to see if they're as bad as others say. My hates are anything with a bloke in a skirt or wearing make up. I'd rather watch Daisy, Daisy, Daisy on repeat!

Nannewnannew · 08/01/2023 12:53

Another vote for hating the Daisy advert, for goodness sake, please take it off!

Trivento wine and “A splash of the bold”, it makes me cringe every time I see an advert

Completely agree. We misheard it as "a splash in the bowl" and that has stuck as something that's crap in our house:
"You've lost your wallet?! Oh that's a splash in the bowl!"

FunnyTalks · 08/01/2023 13:01

All the social media ads using influencers or in that style, where the women have lip filler and hold the products up to camera weirdly awkwardly due to extremely long nails. Especially when the product is for something to do with personal care or beauty.

I'm not averse to a manicure, makeup or edgy looks. Just can't stand the expression lip fillers give or the thought of the days' dirt accumulating under the extremely long nails. Aware this is just personal choice!

Oakbeam · 08/01/2023 13:09

Nope. I haven’t joined the army.

Autoglass one," autoglass repair Autoglass replace" sung in a 1970's way

Obviously the Daisy one
The Wren kitchen one with a couple sort of dancing, my mum would have called it orming about

FrostieBoabby · 08/01/2023 13:14

Omaze - just o'fuck off

Guilt trip charities, cleft lip, donkeys, cats, dirty water, blind lady who was going to qualify as a nurse 10 years ago - I already support charities close to my heart.

Perf with surf - I'll never ever buy Surf again

Love Island sexy lady on bucking bronco.

Any life assurance especially those with June and the serial killer parsnip jam neighbour.

If you go on YouTube you can find a montage of Autoglass adverts in different countries, it's a global company that has the same jingle everywhere around the world but in different languages and for some reason I find it weirdly fascinating.

You know what, I watch that and think, 'That's such a bloke way of cleaning, isn't it? don't pick stuff like stools and bins off the floor, just clean around it!'

Yes exactly, and then throw the thing in the bin! Lazy and not exactly reaching many sustainability goals either.

M&S food. Not just food but … in our house we all make yacking noises when those come on 😂 (we are all fussy eaters for context)

I'm genuinely curious. Why are you all fussy eaters?

Roundlampshade · 08/01/2023 13:59

SpeckledlyHen · 08/01/2023 12:41

Yes! The little shit.. when he is licking the icecream I just want to through him into the deep end!

If that’s their typical family then count me out.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/01/2023 14:01

Yes, we're talking about these adverts, therefore they've worked

They'd work if they made us rush out and buy the product; which it appears we aren't as the ads are having the opposite effect from the one intended.

That gin one where the woman is blindfolded - why?

She's wearing a beautiful green dress, though.

purplecorkheart · 08/01/2023 14:03

I have basically given up watching tv so haven't seen many ads recently other than Christmas ads. I watched the food channel over Christmas and they were sponsored by Iceland. I will never ever shop there after that stupid It's Christmas ad that appeared at least 8 times an hour.

Bamaluz · 08/01/2023 14:31

TRADE CENTRE WALES - YES I'M SHOUTING, IT'S SHOUTING ALL THE WAY THROUGH, SO ANNOYING - IT'S A RADIO AD - SO LOUD, SO ANNOYING

You're using a microphone mate, there's no need to shout.
I won't go there, I've even changed the radio station to avoid the adverts.
