You're my sunshine You're my best times You're my anomaly

And I'd choose you
In a hundred lifetimes I'd choose you

The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I had the radio on whilst I was putting DD1 to bed when she was a newborn and it just summed it all up. I am hopelessly in love with them and I would do anything for them.

'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
Ay, ay, ay, ay
Feels like fire
I'm so in love with you
Dreams are like angels
They keep bad at bay, bad at bay
Love is the light
Scaring darkness away, yeah
I'm so in love with you
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
Flame on, burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
When the chips are down I'll be around
With my undying, death-defying love for you
Envy will hurt itself
Let yourself be beautiful
Sparkling love, flowers
And pearls and pretty girls
Love is like an energy
Rushin' an' rushin' inside of me, eh
The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
Flame on, burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
This time we go sublime
Lovers entwine, divine, divine
Love is danger, love is pleasure
Love is pure, the only treasure
I'm so in love with you
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
The power of love
A force from above
A sky-scraping dove
Flame on burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Purge the soul
Make love your goal
I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door

Gabrielle - Sunshine

^"Sunshine through my window that's what you are, my shining star

Gabrielle - Sunshine
(she wrote it about her son)
Reminds me of my baby and the lyrics are beautiful <3

"Made a wish, I can dream
I can be what I want to be
Not afraid to live life
And fulfil my fantasies

I learnt a lot of tricks to help me live my life
You helped me find my paradise
When you came, you were like

Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
(Sunshine)
Making me feel
I'm on top of the world
Telling me I'll go far

You are the calm
I am the storm
You are the breeze that carries me on
When I set adrift
You anchor me
You're there for me

<3 xx

Woah posted mine before I saw this, gives me the chills when I hear it but it reminds me of my boys

Zoom by Fat Larry’s Band for my DS2

Faster and faster we were higher than high
For once in my lifetime I was finally free
And you gave that to me

Quite a few songs remind me of DD, but the one that always really gets me in the feels is Greatest Day by Take That. As we got into the car on a very cold morning to go to the hospital and have our much longed for baby by elective CS, DH turned on the radio just as Gary Barlow sang, 'today this could be, the greatest day of our lives...' Couldn't have heard anything more apt!

Dear Theodosia from Hamilton:

Dear Theodosia, what to say to you?
You have my eyes, you have your mother's name
When you came into the world, you cried
And it broke my heart
I'm dedicating every day to you
Domestic life was never quite my style
When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart
And I thought I was so smart
You will come of age with our young nation
We'll bleed and fight for you
We'll make it right for you
If we lay a strong enough foundation
We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you
And you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Oh, Philip, when you smile I am undone
My son, look at my son
Pride is not the word I'm looking for
There is so much more inside me now
Oh, Philip, you outshine the morning sun
My son
When you smile, I fall apart
And I thought I was so smart
My father wasn't around (my father wasn't around)
I swear that I'll be around for you
I'll do whatever it takes (I'll make a million mistakes)
I'll make the world safe and sound for you
Will come of age with our young nation
We'll bleed and fight for you
We'll make it right for you
If we lay a strong enough foundation
We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you
And you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled star dust in your hair
and golden moonbeams in your eyes of blue.

Still, nearly 53 years later, I can still feel how I felt the first time i saw her. perfect love.

I could claim precognition, because there's a line in the song "that is why all the girls in town, follow you all around'. And as she's gay, they did 😍

That's my mum's song for me.😍 She's in her 70s and I'm in my 50s and she still sings to to me after a couple ofGin.

My song for the boys is The Power of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood:
I'll protect you from the Hooded Claw,
Keep the vampires from your door.
When the chips are down,
I'll be around with my undying, death defying love for you.

Dd was an ivf baby, tried for many years to have get pregnant.

When she was baby, I would play music a lot in the kitchen and one day was listening to Disney music.... cos why not 🤣 and a song from tangled came on.
I see the light
Which in the film is about them falling in love after being alone and I just thought the lyrics were so fitting to our situation of becoming parents after so long....Something we never thought would happen

All those days watching from the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I've been
Now I'm here blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here suddenly I see
Standing here it's all so clear
I'm where I'm meant to be
And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you
All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go
And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything is different
Now that I see you
Now that I see you

I had 6 cycles of IVF to get my little boy! Lots of money, lots of loss and lots of upset.

The song that most reminds me of that time and the time just after he was born was the second verse of 'Just havnt met you yet' by Michael Bublé (who I don't like!!!). It's just so fitting for me and my boy!

I might have to wait.
I'll never give up.
I guess it's half timing,
And the other half's luck.
Wherever you are.
Whenever it's right.
You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby, your love is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.

And somehow, I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, I'll give so much more than I get.

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

When my son was just weeks old I was watching the music channel and this came on. I was holding him and singing along, bawling my eyes out. It was the first time I'd truly connected to a song in such a strong way. I cannot listen to it without welling up!

AliasGrape · 07/01/2023 21:11

I walked down the aisle (8 weeks pregnant with dd after a long journey ttc) to the Vitamin String Quartet version of Can't Help Falling in Love With You. It was also playing as DD was born. My adoptive dad (who died when I was 21) used to sing it to me. I sang it to DD every night as I rocked her to sleep for the first 18 months or so of her life, and still sometimes now.

Also, the night before I went in to be induced I was in the bath listening to a playlist and the song 'A thousand years' came on. Not my normal taste but it made me cry, I was nervous and talking to my baby who I'd waited for so long telling her I'd be seeing her soon and then these lines came on, which cynical me would usually scoff at and say they made no sense but about to give birth me felt like they were so profound haha! Still think of DD and tear up when I hear it:

One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

ThreeRingCircus · 07/01/2023 21:17

You'll be in my heart by Phil Collins

Come stop your crying
It will be alright
Just take my hand
Hold it tight
I will protect you
From all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry
For one so small
You seem so strong
My arms will hold you
Keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart
Always

I sang this loads to baby ds, who I had after a number of miscarriages -
You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you

Into My Arms - Nick Cave

Yes technically it’s about unrequited love and he wrote it about ex lovers but before I knew the background I felt the lyrics were very apt about how I feel about my children.

It’s such a beautiful song, wonderful lyrics, but particularly this verse.

“And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms”

😭😭😭

Yes! I can't get through this song without having a little cry about my amazing DD 😭😭😭

Also Lullaby for Francies by The Blockheads. It will forever remind me of my DH pacing the house trying to get her to sleep as a baby

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day
When it is cold outside
I've got the month of May

My son was born in the middle of the night and we got put in a side room about 6am. I remember holding him snd looking out of the window while this played. 😭😭

My 2nd son;
So we're ok. We're fine,
Baby I'm here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I'm stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Adding up the total of a love that's true
Multiply life by the power of two

Now they're grown up the song that makes me sob goes;

Across the evening sky. All the birds are leaving,
But how can they know. It's time for them to go?

😭😭😭

Coldplay. Us against the world.

Its the story of miscarriage and desperation.
”lift off this blindfold let me see again” is my utter blind focus on having a baby, trying again, dates and diaries of fertile periods overshadowing every other aspect of normal life.
”This tightrope I’m walking just sways and ties” pregnancy after multiple miscarriages feels like a tightrope over the Grand Canyon with everything to lose on an unsafe footing.

And “The devil he’s talking with those angel eyes” described the bitter sweet of being pregnant but knowing, it’s not a given, there is potential for loss and miscarriage.

Its about holding on, me to my baby, hold on, my baby to me, hold on.

The wonderful exciting juxtaposition with the precarious position of the threat and not knowing if horror awaits along the path… yet again.
It gets me, the words mean so much to me, it almost speaks to my situation back then perfectly.
”Slow it down through the chaos, slow it down” was my mantra during my pregnancy.
My mind was chaotic & noisy because of the anxiety and fear, but “slow it down” over and over multiple times calmed my breathing and my mind.
Then it all started again every morning, another day survived with no bleeding and no pain.

Oh, morning
Come bursting
The clouds amen
Lift off this blindfold, let me see again
Bring back the water that your ships roll in
In my heart she left a hole
The tightrope that I'm walking just sways and ties
The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes
And I just want to be there when the lightning strikes
And the saints go marching in
And sing
Slow it down
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world
Like a river to a raindrop
I lost a friend
My drunken hazard Daniel in a lion's den
And tonight I know it all has to begin again
So whatever you do, don't let go
And if we could float away
Fly up to the surface
And just start again
Lift off before trouble
Just erodes us in the rain
Just erodes us in the rain
Just erodes us
And see roses in the rain, saying
Slow it down
Slow it down
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world

Beatification of meaningful words.
I’m not even sure of the meaning of the song for whoever wrote it, but for me, that’s what it means.

My niece who was 15 months old when she died of SIDS - Emile sande Hurts - not every lyric of course but it was the song that always triggered my tears

my own DT’s it always been hush little baby don’t say a word, mommas gonna buy you a mockingbird - always sang it to them and it was guaranteed to get them to sleep when they were babies

OlympicOwl · 07/01/2023 21:27

My song from when my DD was a baby is Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden.

I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply do
I will be strong, I will be faithful 'cause I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living. A deeper meaning.

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me.

Now that DD is older there are many songs that make me think of her at different stages of her life, including ABBA's Dancing Queen and Slipping Through My Fingers.
