Coldplay. Us against the world.
Its the story of miscarriage and desperation.
”lift off this blindfold let me see again” is my utter blind focus on having a baby, trying again, dates and diaries of fertile periods overshadowing every other aspect of normal life.
”This tightrope I’m walking just sways and ties” pregnancy after multiple miscarriages feels like a tightrope over the Grand Canyon with everything to lose on an unsafe footing.
And “The devil he’s talking with those angel eyes” described the bitter sweet of being pregnant but knowing, it’s not a given, there is potential for loss and miscarriage.
Its about holding on, me to my baby, hold on, my baby to me, hold on.
The wonderful exciting juxtaposition with the precarious position of the threat and not knowing if horror awaits along the path… yet again.
It gets me, the words mean so much to me, it almost speaks to my situation back then perfectly.
”Slow it down through the chaos, slow it down” was my mantra during my pregnancy.
My mind was chaotic & noisy because of the anxiety and fear, but “slow it down” over and over multiple times calmed my breathing and my mind.
Then it all started again every morning, another day survived with no bleeding and no pain.
Oh, morning
Come bursting
The clouds amen
Lift off this blindfold, let me see again
Bring back the water that your ships roll in
In my heart she left a hole
The tightrope that I'm walking just sways and ties
The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes
And I just want to be there when the lightning strikes
And the saints go marching in
And sing
Slow it down
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world
Like a river to a raindrop
I lost a friend
My drunken hazard Daniel in a lion's den
And tonight I know it all has to begin again
So whatever you do, don't let go
And if we could float away
Fly up to the surface
And just start again
Lift off before trouble
Just erodes us in the rain
Just erodes us in the rain
Just erodes us
And see roses in the rain, saying
Slow it down
Slow it down
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world
Through chaos as it swirls
It's us against the world
Beatification of meaningful words.
I’m not even sure of the meaning of the song for whoever wrote it, but for me, that’s what it means.
