Infuriated at lack of good female role models for children

The likes of Kim K and Cardi B are DISGUSTING! Cardi B admitted to robbing/drugging men, there are naked photos of her on the internet and her raps are vulgar and talentless. Kim K got famous off a sex tape that is still online and shows off her excessive consumption. She also encourages impressionable women to feel bad about their bodies by lying about their own surgeries!

When i was a teen, I wish I heard about Ruth Bader Ginsberg instead of these 2 clowns

@daisyjgrey it's called being narrow minded 🤦🏻‍♀️ she's absolutely bonkers lol!

So you're ok with your children becoming strippers, doing naked photo shoots, opening OnlyFans and shooting sex tapes? Are you also ok with using private jets, which emit tonnes of pollution, and owning multiple mansions that you don't need?

LolaSparkle · 07/01/2023 19:57

@eynewbie2023 please give me a factual example of where Kim K or Cardi B has encouraged anyone to become a stripper or join only fans ... just because that's a decision they made in the past doesn't mean they advocate it now

Good god, if you judged everyone on past decisions then it's likely there would be be anyone on the planet fit to be a role model, the difference with these two women is they haven't locked it away, they've used it to their advantage.

I'd see them as more of a role model than someone like you based on how you judge and pull other women apart just because they don't fit your ideals!

I think you argument is batshit crazy tbh!

GinoVino · 07/01/2023 20:10

If that's what they want to do, as consenting adults, and they're safe and happy, who the fuck am I to stop them! Your hysterical, irrational attitude towards sex is alarming. You could have being doing some research into positive role models, finding out about people you do admire and come back here to discuss them. Instead you're stewing over some celebs and their historical sexual encounters! Barmy.

Then why do teachers, policewomen and other professional women get sacked/disciplined when it's discovered they have onlyfans? If behaviour like going on onlyfans were socially acceptable and morally accepted, why are women getting fired/disciplined jobs for having them?

These celebs made money off of broadcasting about their sexual encounters, it's how they have become so famous
Also, Kim K lets her daughter wear a gimp mask from Balenciaga and hides her 2 sons whilst promoting her 9 year old daughter on TikTok. She exploits her female children and exposes them to strangers worldwide but doesn't do the same for her sons. Is that not disgusting and sexist?
Didn't Cardi B also rob and drug men? If she wanted more money, she could have worked hard to get an education, applied for scholarships and then become a professional, like my parents, who came from nothing as UK immigrants but won scholarships to prestigious universities and became award-winning scientists.
Unfortunately, nobody ever pays people like my parent attention and instead promotes entertainers like Kim K and Cardi B
Whilst Kim K and Cardi aren't explicitly telling people to become strippers and rob others, their actions speak for themselves. When you admire someone, you tend to copy what they do as well as listen to what they say.

If you want better role models be a better role model

BlusteryLake · 08/01/2023 17:20

I think the issue isn't so much that there aren't many good role models, it's that the poor ones have an easy way to high exposure via social media. It used to be a lot easier to ignore vacuous people.

I can't be a role model bc I do not have the same exposure as actual celebs

Any one can be a role model. Parents role model for their children, teacher role model for their pupils, guide leaders role model for their guides, church leaders role model for their congregation.

Celebrity and role model are two very different things.

daisyjgrey · 08/01/2023 17:25

The patriarchy. Of which you are perpetuating.

Ridiculous, as a parent you are the single most important role model for your children! You set their self belief, self worth and self esteem from the start, do it right and they won't need to look to the celebs you so despise.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 08/01/2023 17:52

Seriously? You don't have to be a role model for all the children in the world. You only need to be a good role model for your children. Parents are the ones normally children look up to, and learn from.

I am not a parent. And even if I were, I can't prevent my kids from being exposed to Kim K and her ilk, or from being influenced by peers at school, which studies show are the single biggest influence on teens

Until kids hit secondary school age parents are 100% their biggest role models, get it right before they are exposed to social media etc and they will take KK etc with a bucket load of salt. Do you honestly believe that all kids are so dense that they don't understand that most of social media is fake?

daisyjgrey · 08/01/2023 21:14

I care bc I am a woman and I care about the rights of my gender...I feel solidarity with women, esp in the UK where I am from

Not every woman in the public eye wants to be a role model for people's kids. They probably have far more interesting ambitions.

and if you're from the UK why are you going on about Ruth Bader Ginsberg? I find this lionising of RBG by people outside of the US to be a bit perplexing. It's almost as though they've just seen mention of her on social media and that's as deep as their knowledge goes. Can you name any female members of the British Supreme Court?

No, bc none of the members of the supreme court in the UK have such a big impact on UK law and society, due to the different ways our legal system/government works compared to the U.S.
Dr Charlotte Proudman is my role model in the UK--she's a barrister who campaigns for women's rights in the UK and has worked on high value matrimonial finance cases, private law children, child abduction, surrogacy and serious public law children cases.

But who is to blame? The audience, the influencers or the companies pushing these influencers?

Because of misogyny. As demonstrated by your attitude. Deeper and deeper the more you post. But also this has nothing to do with my comment which was in reply to something silly you said about my nieces becoming strippers. I made a personal observation. I didn't say every woman in the world should join OnlyFans or start stripping.

HaroldandWilly · 08/01/2023 23:31

If you think all young women are aspiring to be like Kim K & Cardi B then you need to broaden your horizons. You obviously don't surround yourself with your kind of people.

larkstar · 08/01/2023 23:37

@LolaSparkle @daisyjgrey I was going to reply but have read enough responses to realise the @eynewbie2023 is brainwashed by social media into thinking it is accurately represents reality and the views of "everyone". Parents have the perfect opportunity to be great role models - show your children how you handle conflict with other people, disappointment when things go wrong in life, etc.

So where do u think the stigma against sex work comes from?
