Just finished a terrible but good film on Netflix. Now I'm watching Eurovision man sing and damn that man has Jim Henson vibes and I love it.

PuppyMonkey · 31/12/2022 23:44

Bugger all I haven’t already seen on Netflix etc and the Hootenanny depresses the hell out of me. Therefore I’m watching Britain’s Favourite 90s hits on Channel 5.

Have had more exciting new years tbf.Grin

Sam is brilliant!

NothingHoldingMeBack · 31/12/2022 23:47

Are we not seeing big Ben and fireworks tonight?

Saucery · 31/12/2022 23:49

Sam Ryder is a weird amalgam of many, many men Grin

At midnight I would assume…

Happyher · 31/12/2022 23:51

It’s been rubbish for the whole of Christmas.

PolkaDotMankini · 31/12/2022 23:53

I'm jealous of Sam's swishy, shiny hair. We're watching and DD is annoying everyone by humming along.

youngestisapsycho · 31/12/2022 23:56

He always looks so happy 😃

Saucery · 31/12/2022 23:56

He sings?

Meltinthemiddle · 31/12/2022 23:57

TV has always been rubbish at Christmas but this year has definitely been the worst! Alot of the programmes have been depression!

wesayno · 31/12/2022 23:57

On Jools.

The Scottish stuff was so bleh it actually made me miss Only an Excuse.

I can tell that I'm in the teeniest of minorities here, but I actually like the NYE cheese. I can't help wondering if some people like it as their tradition to moan about NYE telly and wouldn't be happy with whatever is on - but then, that's the beauty of the internet, multiple streaming services and countless other available activities.

Dh will watch the Hogmanay garbage later its all sentimental twaddle that I can't stand. but sit through

It isn't so much now, though. I used to love that 'sentimental twaddle', but then they dumped it last year (or was it the year before?); got rid of Phil & Aly and Jackie Bird and replaced it with generic pop music - just whatever latest songs the trendy artists have in the charts. We always used to watch Hogmanay on BBC Scotland (we're in the English Midlands), but they've ruined it now.

Having said that, we'd have been torn this year if they had kept the good old Hogmanay stuff, what with Sam Ryder and the Eurovision party on BBC1 England!

After the endless boring football we've had on TV, cancelling and moving all the other programmes around, it's about time for a turn for those of us who just like a cheesy sense of occasion with music to match!

NothingHoldingMeBack · 31/12/2022 23:59

Love Sam but only Stevie Wonder can sing Stevie Wonder

AnnieSnap · 01/01/2023 00:00

I’m watching Marie Antoinette on catch up. Now on episode two. It’s surprisingly good. Her situation puts me in mind of Diana. The bloody fireworks will start any second. Bah humbug!

MrsJackGrealish · 01/01/2023 00:00

I'm binging on Gimme Gimme Gimme on Britbox.

Nothing else to do or watch.

lorn195 · 01/01/2023 00:02

I'm in bed on MN 😊, DH sleeping beside me, 2 DS on FIFA and Xbox. Happy New Year.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 01/01/2023 00:04

People have been setting them off for hours here - before it was even properly dark. They must think it's such a special moment to mark appropriately - that magic, poignant time when it's exactly 7 hours, 26 minutes and 31 seconds to midnight on NYE!

NothingHoldingMeBack · 01/01/2023 00:06

Happy new year mumsnet
