We're going to my best friends for dinner, drinks snd a film.. same as we do every year, although usually they come to us.

That's about as energetic as it gets for us! Will probably stay up to watch the fireworks on tv and them call it a night.

Anyone still do a 'big' night out on NYE? I haven't for well over 20 years.

Bog all and looking forward to it greatly.

ginandheels · 30/12/2022 21:09

No big plans. We’ve had a very, very full on Christmas. This is the first time I have stopped and taken a breath since I finished work on 22nd. Lovely, but intense on the hosting/catering/entertaining front. So NYE will be a takeaway, nice cheese, a cocktail and a bottle of fizz. Movie, board games, possibly a kitchen boogie (if I drink all of the fizz and cocktails that is even more likely) Relaxed and just us. Cleaned the house today so it is comfortable and ready for two days of chilling out in comfort.

I'm working till 10pm NYE then back in at 7am NYD - I'll be in a bad mood lol

Sofa, film, snacks..had a mastectomy today and got home at 730 this evening, so that's as rocking as it'll get here tomorrow evening 😁

pilates · 30/12/2022 21:20

No, it’s for the young’uns. I used to get annoyed with my mum when she used to say this to me. 😆

redlou123 · 30/12/2022 21:20

After 4.5 years of struggling to get pregnant and then having 4 devastating miscarriages, my husband and I will be spending NYE cuddling our 12 week old son ❤️

Chelsea26 · 30/12/2022 21:25

We have one year with the kids and the next year without so we do a mixture…

This years is a kids here year so we will be at home with the 4 of them and the MIL. My bro, SIL and their two kids are coming round, my other brother, SIL and their two kids might come round (if the kids aren’t too tired and grumpy - they’re a bit younger) and some of our neighbours are popping in throughout the night.

DP will make Shakey Pete’s Ginger Beer, I shall make a big cottage pie for lunch and then heat a beige buffet for the evening. The kids will disappear for the most part, we’ll have a kitchen disco!

troppibambini6 · 30/12/2022 21:26

Out for dinner with 2 other families then back to ours where 2 more families are joining us for drinks and to see the new year in. Will be about 30 of us.

Ariautec · 30/12/2022 21:26

Yes!
Tickets to a party with live music at an independent wine bar/restaurant. Think log burner, food and great company.

More live music in the market square, night service at the cathedral, candlelight procession and midnight countdown from the town hall. Such a fantastic family atmosphere. I even love walking home afterwards, chatting to friends, family and neighbours.

Awww Congratulations - your NYE is up there with @Campervangirl‘s as winning the thread.

Enjoy your lovely little boy!

warofthemonstertrucks · 30/12/2022 21:31

Going out for an early dinner with dh and maybe dd but she has just come in a vile temper so if she hasn't pulled it round maybe not her-then back home for a few drinks (if I feel like it-not been well for a month or so) and to watch whatever count down thing is on the Tv

longtompot · 30/12/2022 21:47

We used to have friends over or go to theirs & it would be very late and far too much alcohol drunk.
This year was going to be just us with ds & his gf, but covid is rife here so he (tested free of it) is going to her parents house, so it will just be me, dh & both dds. I think if they feel up to it they will play Switch games, we'll have steak or salmon & chips for dinner and then close to midnight I'll bake some Camembert, drink fizz at midnight & then bed by about half midnight all being well.

Rassy · 30/12/2022 21:48

Did have plans for dinner with friends but I tested positive for Covid today...

TheMousePipes · 30/12/2022 21:55

@redlou123 @Campervangirl you win the thread.
we’re going to the cinema at lunchtime with friends then. Low key meal at theirs and an early night. Suits me fine.

redlou123 · 30/12/2022 21:57

@Chelsea26 Thank you. I still can't quite believe he's here. I feel very lucky 💙. Your plans sound great (love a beige buffet!). I hope you have a great night x

Ricco12 · 30/12/2022 21:58

Myself , OH and two kids (6/8) are going to Miller & Carter for a early dinner, then to a Panto, then back to our village hall for a Hogmanay Ceildh.

LoveAHolidayOrTwo · 30/12/2022 22:01

I am in Prague and have booked a five course meal in a lovely sounding restaurant and then will do to the clock tower for midnight.

Rosiepeta · 30/12/2022 22:48

We are hosting a house party for around 25/ 30 including some hyper kids!
So il spend the day cooking, the evening drinking and trying to ignore the mess 🙈
Any tips on entertaining 12 kids age 3 to 13?
Happy new year all!!

Chelsea26 · 30/12/2022 23:47

I know it does depend on the children but honestly I think best to just leave them alone! On Boxing Day we had the 8 cousins (13-3) and they were off on their own, they like each other, the oldest look after the youngest, we check on them but for the most part let them crack on.

On Boxing Day they did 2 tik tok dances/challenges (one featuring most of us adults too and including the little ones) and the smasholine, which is taking all the cushions off the sofas in the snug and diving on to them. They build a little smasholine for the three year old.

SortinMyMH · 30/12/2022 23:50

Nope. Quick easy meal, bath and bed

Bikechic · 31/12/2022 00:00

Friends over. Games.

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2022 00:03

We had plans for dinner with friends but this horrible fluey thing that's going round has put paid to that, so it'll be a quiet night in instead.

RampantIvy · 31/12/2022 00:07

Went to a party yesterday and one today, so I'm feeling a bit partied out. We might go to the pub early doors for an hour, but they are doing karaoke later, so we will escape before it starts.

I absolutely loathe karaoke.

sandgrown · 31/12/2022 00:10

@Campervangirl your NYE sounds amazing
