London appointment on 3rd Jan - no trains. No way round it?

We have been waiting for this appointment for about 6 years.
It's a huge huge, life changing, potentially life saving appointment and I've just seen there is train strikes on that day.

Im trying to figure out coaches or buses but and I'm searching and Googling but getting no answers.

Can anyone help? It's Brighton to London waterloo, or specifically St Thomas hospital.

Are there coach replacements or is that not ok because that's usually provided by the rail isn't it?
I can't believe our bloody luck

You need to use the main Brighton coach station

🤷🏼‍♀️

🤷🏼‍♀️

The top result for both Brighton and London are the main coach stations. It’s pretty clear.

DappledThings · 27/12/2022 11:58

Do you definitely have the dates entered correctly? This is what I get

Can you drive, OP?

Brighton into London isn't too far.

QueSyrahSyrah · 27/12/2022 11:58

Op you need to search with these departure and arrival points.

OP, you need to select the coach station in Brighton and then just 'London' in the to section. I've just done it and plenty comes up.

Southern are still running trains.

Oh my God! Really? I could frigging cry. I really hope this is the case!

My car is currently fubarred and sat outside a garage waiting for a part.

The amount of bad luck we have had the last few weeks is ridiculous

Choose the right start point and destination.

As shown above, that option does not come up for me.

National rail website shows plenty of trains running between Brighton and London atm (although it does warn there may be changes)

RichardMarxisinnocent · 27/12/2022 12:00

Just type in London and you should see this list, then select London Victoria coach station.

Pool valley is the name of the main coach station in Brighton. Confused

CantFindTheBeat · 27/12/2022 12:00

Ps - I know the stress, a few years ago we had a life changing appointment coming up for DD and I was petrified something would stop us from getting there.

My advice is as per a few posters - get a coach/cab/drive up on 2nd Jan, have a stress free evening and then same way home on the 3rd.

Dartmoorcheffy · 27/12/2022 12:00

Hire a car if you can drive.

CorporateBull · 27/12/2022 12:00

MulledWineAndMingePies · 27/12/2022 11:59

As shown above, that option does not come up for me.

It does - the screen shot you shared shows Pool Valley as the top option.

getoutof · 27/12/2022 12:01

Hire a car or borrow a car. Get a taxi.

Cavagirl · 27/12/2022 12:01

OP there are some train services running into Waterloo still on strike days.

Have a look on SW rail website, they have a lot of info about what timetable they are running.

Housenoob · 27/12/2022 12:01

Borrow and get insured on a relative's car for a day?

peridito · 27/12/2022 12:01

Also ,don't put an exact time into the National Express site .

If you could wangle a lift or afford a taxi, I'd be tempted to get a car to Morden tube station and catch the Northern Line in from there (25 minutes on the tube, including one very simple branch change, and then a fifteen minute walk). Would avoid the stress of strike day central London traffic if you took a coach all the way in.

However as a PP has said, Southern are planning h to run some trains anyway.
