What was a hit and what was a miss?

The switch here has been a massive hit!

Two happy children though they probably would have been happier to have switch lite each.

Im not buying them more handsets.

Miss….nothing for dd. She loved everything.

Ds was a bit more awkward. Dh had given ds some of his collectible figurines which were still in box which we knew ds would like. He is rather underwhelmed though and just wants to go on the switch.

dh is a little hurt

Hits for 4 year old DS were switch games (minecraft and miitopia), Luigi lego and minecraft lego and a minecraft cat soft toy and Mog's Christmas.
Miss was the satsuma in his stocking, although he very excitedly pulled it out he later on said "lets put it in the fruit bowl, I don't want it"

Hits for 11 year old DD were an Alex Rider book (biggest hit) and Stranger Things hoodie and t-shirt.
Miss was the animal crossing soft toy because it was Celeste and she doesn't like Celeste. And she was a bit eh about the light drawing board.

AuntieEntity · 25/12/2022 11:15

So far the LOL camper van I got half price in the the Amazon sale has been the biggest hit so far, closely followed by the Encanto Lego. But in fairness to DD, there's been nothing as yet that she hasn't responded to positively. The test will be what she plays with over the next few months!

babynoname22 · 25/12/2022 11:17

Hit for DS 2.5 happyland aeroplane I got from binted for £5! Lots of other hits too light up spinner. Duplo bath toys.

Miss ag the minute jiggly pet but in time reckon he will like it. New shoes 😂

babynoname22 · 25/12/2022 11:18

Re Barbie camper: I've still got mine from 34 years ago! I've had it out for DS but he's still a little small. My niece has got the new one today and she is beyond excited!

Hellocatshome · 25/12/2022 11:21

DS 12 has got a switxh which is obviously a huge hit but he got a knitted swimmer compete with knitted goggles and medal (he is a swimmer) and I think that got the biggest smile when he opened it.

Barbie camper van was my all time favourite present about 35 years ago😃 x

Can she still not stand up in it?

Lostinabba · 25/12/2022 11:22

Miss with 17yr old DD anything I chose 😂DS 15 loved his IKEA 'hand' for holding his gaming headsets, already on the middle finger pose.

dementedma · 25/12/2022 11:24

Not doing our presents till this evening...but dcs are adult so not an issue really. Due at mums at 12 and if DD isnt out of bed will be going without her!

My husband got me a hat.
I don’t wear hats and it’s a children’s hat.
😳

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/12/2022 11:31

DS(7)

Hits: Barcelona football, Pokémon stuff (very specific), Exploding Kittens, FIFA 23, Bakugan stuff, predators book, Neymar book.

Misses: Snap circuits, novelty candy, Gangsta Granny game, Pokémon mug, robot building kit.

That's fantastic!

I got my ds 2 pairs of jammers for training , a club drinks bottle and the club hoody (as if any swimmer is short of hoody's!). He was thrilled with all that.

Ds (18) all his were hits.

Some biscuits and crisps!
Stuff for swimming.
Tools/ toolbox
New pyjamas, trainers and gym t shirt.

But the biggest hit was I've got him (us!) tickets to go and see Russel Howard next year.

evtheria · 25/12/2022 11:31

Hit I was so pleased DS8 was really delighted and excited about a hardcover, illustrated The Hobbit. He loves reading but toys are usually more exciting on Christmas Day for him. He was also thrilled to receive a cheap mini-arcade style game where you whack zombies on the head, but this was an item he had wanted.
Best thing in stocking: a small tube of cinnamon toothpaste
Miss Nothing! We did it! On a lower spend than previous years, and with fewer gifts! Copious fist pumping all around, this success will never happen again...

kittensinthekitchen · 25/12/2022 11:32

Mine are teens and asked for cash, so got mostly that, with some smaller presents to open alongside their stocking.

Eldest (17) loved the two Disney Pixar art collection books he got (Coco and Soul) to add to his collection, and two Uno sets (Minimalista and All Wild)

youngest (14) Eilish perfume was a big hit as she asked for that but didn't expect it today. And a vinyl of her favourite musician.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 25/12/2022 11:35

Miss: DSD - 200 cash

😠

You wouldn’t have loved the screaming because we wouldn’t let her eat the bits with cellotape on!

riotlady · 25/12/2022 11:37

Hits for 4yo DD - torch, dressy up high heels from home bargains, cry baby doll

Misses- surprisingly underwhelmed by her sky dancer, I think I’ve had more fun with it! Also I didn’t realise until I was wrapping but literally everything I’ve got for DH is good/drink related except for a single pair of underpants and a concert ticket xD

babynoname22 · 25/12/2022 11:37

Hit for me a little keyring with a picture of me and my two boys from DH.

ThroughTheMirrorEmpire · 25/12/2022 11:39

8 year old girl loves her Little Live Pet chameleon and Super Mario Lego set and 4 year old boy is over the moon at a toy light sabre and Buzz Lightyear Lego set…

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/12/2022 11:43

Ah you can't beat a light saber on Christmas morning!

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 25/12/2022 11:47

Miss: Air up bottle ds was desperate for. Can't taste any flavour and has already set it aside. Really expensive.
Hit:pokemone game

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 25/12/2022 11:48

Complete surprise hit for 17yo DD - a small pen knife/multi tool. Thanks to the Christmas Bargains threads it was £1.75 from Mountain Warehouse and it's delighted her more than all her main presents.

Lego sets for the 23, 20 and 17yo were very big hits. It's been a good few years since Lego was a common present but I guess it proves you're never to old for Lego

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 25/12/2022 11:49

SquirrelFan · 25/12/2022 11:22

Can she still not stand up in it?

I had a (real) campervan and I couldn't stand up in it!

Topbird29 · 25/12/2022 11:53

Not opened many presents yet, just santa sacks. Which have 1 main present in. Younger ds (8), over the moon with Aston Martin lego set he asked santa for (which took ebay hunting). Was equally happy with the £4 play handcuffs that us parents wouldn't let him have for his birthday!

ABoynamedsue2022 · 25/12/2022 12:02

Mine are at their dads until 1 so no idea yet.

im annoyed though as I asked if he wanted to go halves on a ps5 for ds, he said no as was getting him a phone.

just had a call of the kids, and he’s bought them a PS5!

prick
