I'll start. Homemade choc chip cake with old skool chocolate custard, bonus points if I manage to get it to form a leathery skin... yum 😍

Shop bought Yule log always a bit dry imo so some extra thick cream to help it slide down Xmas Grin.
Or shop trifle. Apparently BIL makes a banging trifle, but I've not seen one in the 18 years I've been with DH so no risks are being taken!
If my parents come then mum will being home made port, grape and cherry jelly. Best thing ever!

Rocky Road domed cheesecake. It looks suitably festive too! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/rocky-road-cheesecake-pudding

@Snowwonsno problem at all, I use this recipe (this is the larger one bit she also does a half recipe for a 6 inch round)

The cake is dark, moist, not sickly sweet, and you can taste the chocolate! I always find with alot of recipe you can't. I don't use the frosting recipe, and instead use a chocolate fudge icing, best one I've found, it melts in your mouth (if you would like the recipe for this too i can send it). This is a picture of the last time I made it. For Christmas I'm going to spray it in gold glitter, my dc love anything sparkly!

Leathery skin...
Sorry but that is actually illegal on custard.
I'm phoning the police now....😜

I got a small Christmas pud but everyone's refusing it - I thought this might happen, so we've got a frozen raspberry pavlova to take it's place. Yum! 😃😋

HippyChickMama · 25/12/2022 18:40

Dh, ds and dd all have Christmas pudding but I can't stand it (nor mince pies and Christmas cake 🤮)
I usually have the Tesco finest salted caramel and toffee bombe but the bastards have stopped selling it so I had Sainsbury’s gingerbread and toffee bombe with double cream instead. It was nice enough but not as nice as the Tesco one

Risalamande, a danish traditional pudding made with slow cooked rice mixed with whipped cream and almonds and served with warm cherry sauce. Totally delicious, but makes you so stuffed! Dp is a dane so we have this every year, on Christmas Eve, which is when we celebrate. Had leftovers today!

Jennywren1975 · 25/12/2022 18:54

Although dessert is my favourite part of the Christmas dinner, this year I couldn't be bothered to make one.
I had some home made rice pudding in the freezer which DH had and tonight I improvised for myself using layers of crushed digestives, toffee sauce, bananas and fresh cream into a sundae dish and called it deconstructed Banoffee.

SnowAndFrostOutside · 25/12/2022 18:55

I usually make Yule logs for Christmas Day. I’m from NZ and pavlova is traditional. These will be my go to. Can’t stand Christmas pudding.

APurpleSquirrel · 25/12/2022 19:02

We go to PIL & MIL always makes loads - today's selection was:
Christmas Pudding
Lemon Posset
Crème Brûlée
Meringues
Apple crumble
Chocolate cake
Jelly
Fresh strawberries & cream
& a family recipe referred to Yoghurty Thing

Tomorrow I will be contributing:
Mint Aero Rocky Road
Toblerone Fudge
Baileys Fudge
& there will likely be a gluten free roulade for BIL

The trifle from the Queen’s jubilee. It was gorgeous.

ProfYaffle · 25/12/2022 19:05

Chocolate steamed sponge pudding because it looks a bit like Christmas pudding. Plus bought Yule log.

Prescottdanni123 · 25/12/2022 19:07

Milk jelly - nice and light after a heavy lunch. Victoria sponge with fondant icing instead of Christmas cake in the evening.

strawberrysunrise · 25/12/2022 19:08

TRIFLE

AdoraBell · 25/12/2022 19:11

I’m okay with Christmas pudding but DDs don’t like it. I bought a lemon tart and serve it with frozen raspberries.

RudeElfTheRainDear · 25/12/2022 19:13

I love Xmas pud so we had that but also had a lemon tart option.

whoruntheworldgirls · 25/12/2022 19:17

We had asda gingerbread and butterscotch pudding and it was amazing!!!! Especially with brandy butter

StrawberryIceQueen · 25/12/2022 19:19

Apple and mincemeat crumble with custard. Lovely

Decafflatteplease · 25/12/2022 19:22

We had a choice of...

Sticky toffee pudding, the cartmel one obvs as it's the best!

Yule log

Sherry trifle

Christmas cupcakes

Awrite · 25/12/2022 19:24

Home made cheesecake and shop bought trifle.

Went down a treat.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 25/12/2022 19:24

We did something different this year and got a patisserie selection so we could all choose and nothing was wasted.

I have chocolate tart, DH had mandarin tart, DD1 had almond tart and DD2 had chocolate and cherry gateaux.

£6 for 8 desserts from Iceland and they were delicious.

reluctantbrit · 25/12/2022 19:25

Homemade yule log and homemade chocolate orange suffle

Daisymay2 · 25/12/2022 19:30

DH and I have Christmas pudding, but I make chocolate, brandy and orange steamed pudding with cream and orange sauce for my DS- both adult, its about time they tried Christmas pudding again though. Don't understand why they like mince pies but not the puds.

TwoPointFourCatsAndDogs · 25/12/2022 19:43

Homemade Baked Alaska ...DS17 and DD14 each choose their favourite Ben & Jerrys ice cream, we mix them together with a few sweets, cover in meringue and pour some flaming Brandy over the top. It's a tradition.
