Harry and Meghan have left the RF and are very negative about them. I am not sure it is the time or place for the RF to comment any further on matters related to Harry and Meghan. H and M want separation and have left those roles. It seems murky for the RF to still be commenting on them now. I don't think there is anything the RF could say that wouldn't lead to more anger from H and M. Their own PR team should be putting out a statement, not the RF.

I am taking it seriously because I know how terrifying it is for an older man to voice violent fantasies about you. I am taking it seriously because there are countries across the world where violence against women is the norm. I am taking it seriously because women die every week in this country at the hands of male violence. It is not a joke. We should never ever accept descriptions of violence against women as funny.

A white man wants to see a black woman paraded naked in the streets. What other imagery might come to mind, what other context have we seen white men parade black women in the street? A RL context, not fictional like GoT.

It is not possible for a white man to say this about a black woman and for the currency of what he says not to include the racial context.

I am not saying that it is legal grounds for prosecution, I ‘m not even sure I think he should be arrested.

But I would cheer and chuck shit if instead of his mealy mouthed non-apology he admitted his vileness and submitted to a Walk of Atonement.

Yes, you are right. Thank you for explaining using such powerful imagery. I didn't see the racism before, just the vile misogyny, but I see it now. I didn't think of the slave markets I'm ashamed to say.

Everyone should write to their MP's, asking for their clear views on making misogyny a hate crime, citing this incident as a lightning rod.

Because it’s inciting hate and violence against a woman, and the police have no problem with that - quite often they join in with the violence.

Try the same thing against a transwoman and see how quickly you end up in a jail cell. 🙄
