Does anyone else NOT have their Christmas trees and decorations up?

It’s literally a week before Christmas and I still don’t have any trees, decorations or lights up yet. I don’t think I’ve ever been as late as this!

I think life has just got in the way a little, I’ve been busy, tired and just haven’t been bothered!

anyone else? I do want to put mine up though, I’m going to have to make the effort to do it this weekend or early-mid next week at the latest!

Not until 19th due to family tradition which I still follow.

CambsAlways · 16/12/2022 18:16

Ours up this year 20th down 27th on our own this year so that’s our celebrations, nothing to celebrate really the worst diagnosis you could possibly get back in the summer, can’t wait to get it over with to be honest

caringcarer · 16/12/2022 18:17

Always put ours up on December 18th. That was my parents wedding anniversary so tradition in my house.

I haven't and not going to as I can't be arsed 😴 DD10 has a small fibre optic one in her bedroom and that's enough for me.

I'm a scrooge though 🤷‍♀️

greenhousegal · 16/12/2022 18:18

Just a few strings of fairy lights on the mantelpiece and indoor window sills. That's it. In fact they are still there since last Christmas happy days!

A candle (battery op) in the porch on Christmas Eve as it's a tradition, and in memory of absent friends.

annonymousse · 16/12/2022 18:20

Literally put our tree up this evening. We only moved into our house on Monday and probably wouldn't have bothered this year if we weren't having visitors (grandchildren ❤️) next week.

Hbh17 · 16/12/2022 18:21

Well, I never put up a Christmas tree - can't see the point (although I do like the smell of pine needles!).
But, traditionally, the tree is supposed to go up on Christmas Eve, so it's still way too early.

stargirl1701 · 16/12/2022 18:23

We don't but it isn't Christmas yet. Our tree will come in on the 23rd and we will decorate it on Christmas Eve.

Plenty of time, OP.

user1471538283 · 16/12/2022 18:25

This is the first year ever we haven't got a tree. I've put some lights up and a small minimalist tree thing and that will do

houseargh · 16/12/2022 18:29

We were gonna do it last weekend but all got flu, then we were gonna put up the tree and lights tonight and decorate tomorrow but DH has just been in urgent care with a perforated eardrum due to infection so can't imagine he'll be feeling it. We're away to family on the 22nd so I guess it has to happen at some point before then! So ready for the end of this year to be over, bring on 2023!

Saucery · 16/12/2022 18:29

Me. Doing it tomorrow. It’s a family tradition.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 16/12/2022 18:30

Not yet, in my defence my baby is due on Wednesay, we moved house on 1st and haven't finished unpacking yet!
Going to get a tree tomorrow 🤪

BCBird · 16/12/2022 18:33

None here. CBA as my darling pupils would say🙈

ortonym · 16/12/2022 18:38

Going up the same as they have for the last few years...on the 32nd.

Diversion · 16/12/2022 18:43

Our tree is still in the garden, we never put it up early anyway. As for other decorations I never bother as I am no longer a fan of Christmas, even less so this year. Bah Humbug!

asblindasabat · 16/12/2022 18:48

Ok I’m so glad there seems to be a lot of you who don’t have Christmas trees up either!

Im hosting my family this year on Christmas Day, I don’t think it would look too good if all my guests turn up and there’s no tree up!

Me, I hate the whole faff of it. Take them down on 27th.

Me too! In fact I might not bother at all, it barely seems worth it!
I only posted the cards yesterday, I haven’t bought more than a couple of presents and quite frankly I cba.
I have ordered lovely food for the two of us but beyond that I have done virtually nothing 🙄😊

OneFrenchEgg · 16/12/2022 19:11

I just feel like the house is messy all the time with all the kids, and the decorations just look daft having a random Christmas ornament - I don't have the time, money or energy to do a 'look' with sweeping foliage etc. Will probably stick a tree up,

Waterfallstop · 16/12/2022 19:25

B&Q has reduced their real trees today by 50% if anyone is still needing one I got an 9ft beauty this afternoon - largest one in the shop - for £34.

beachcitygirl · 16/12/2022 19:30

Me. Going up tomorrow! Have a bad cold a& just couldn't be arsed

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 16/12/2022 19:36

I'm putting mine up this weekend. Always do it around a week before Christmas and take them down end of January.

Their artificials are reduced too Smile

Amboseli · 16/12/2022 19:39

DH just put up the tree and one set of lights. Usually we're ablaze with lights but CBA this year.

Ilovehamandtoast · 16/12/2022 19:40

We don't. I've not been well and I just don't know if I can find it in me. Me Christmas tree makes me incredibly happy though 🤔

KingscoteStaff · 16/12/2022 19:42

Planning to buy tree on Sunday? Or maybe Monday?
