Does anyone else NOT have their Christmas trees and decorations up?

It’s literally a week before Christmas and I still don’t have any trees, decorations or lights up yet. I don’t think I’ve ever been as late as this!

I think life has just got in the way a little, I’ve been busy, tired and just haven’t been bothered!

anyone else? I do want to put mine up though, I’m going to have to make the effort to do it this weekend or early-mid next week at the latest!

Not yet...

RejectedCitizenOfMoronia · 16/12/2022 17:26

Cant decide if i am doing the yule log this year. Never have anything beyond that

NooNakedJacuzziness · 16/12/2022 17:27

None here yet - I'll either do them this evening or tomorrow though. We don't bother with a tree, just a festive fireplace

So glad its not only me. I'm working all weekend. I'm bloody exhausted. My house is in uproar and everything is going wrong. I don't see how or when I will get them up!

shivermetimbers77 · 16/12/2022 17:31

Me neither : planning to get mine on Sunday ..

woodhill · 16/12/2022 17:32

We only put ours up today, bought Wednesday

I don't tend to want them up any earlier

MenaiMna · 16/12/2022 17:34

Max one week before, down by nye. If not for dd I wouldn't do it at all.

GrumpyPanda · 16/12/2022 17:36

Ours never go up before Christmas Eve. Quite deliberately- we have live candles on them and want them to be fresh. Also, for the same reason, first time they're lit is very special, Christmas eve after dusk, right along with carols and presents.

They do stay up the whole traditional period through, right until Epiphany.

skyeisthelimit · 16/12/2022 17:36

Me, which is quite normal as I usually put the tree up the week before Christmas.

I will never put it up earlier than that as I don't believe that Christmas starts on 1 December like a lot of people seem to now. I take it down on 12th Night.

Last year my daughter left some tinsel on a picture after 12th Night so we left it up all year Grin.

slavetothekittens · 16/12/2022 17:40

Not yet, am hoping to get the tree up and put some decorations up over the weekend, probably Sunday.

yikesanotherbooboo · 16/12/2022 17:42

I'll do ours this weekend.I usually do it in the week before Christmas.

Justkeeprollingalong · 16/12/2022 17:50

@Nooky and @girlmom21
I shouldn't bother with the cards this year - you've missed the last posting dates for both 2nd Class (last Monday) and 1st Class (today). They are much earlier than usual because of the postal strikes.

Deathraystare · 16/12/2022 17:52

Well me as on my own in tiny room. I don't even put cards up. Not because I am all bah humbug, I like Christmas but it is a space thing.

Nooky · 16/12/2022 17:53

Bugger @Justkeeprollingalong , I thought it was Monday, thank you for letting us know

RoseBucket · 16/12/2022 17:54

We have just finished but only out the tree up, weirdly it doesn’t feel Christmasy this year, I think it’s due to being much less well off than previous years and living pay day to pay day.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 16/12/2022 17:58

No. Not up. We bought the tree yesterday and will put it up over the weekend.

We'll just do neighbours to be fair.
We've done the children's nursery cards Smile

Beamur · 16/12/2022 18:06

Me too. We don't usually put the tree up until the week before Christmas though so this isn't unusual.
It's the latest I have ever got round to cards though and I might just not bother with that many...

TCMolly · 16/12/2022 18:06

None here, our cats would wreck everything in 5 minutes.

Nope, mine haven't seen the light of day since 2019. Me and DP aren't really "Christmas" people and DD won't be here again (working over the Christmas period so won't be seeing her until early January), so in the loft they will stay.

postcardpuffin · 16/12/2022 18:10

Us - we’ve all been ill with a nasty virus, and really busy at work, so the house is still a mess and not Christmassy at all. Planning to do it this weekend!

glamourousindierockandroll · 16/12/2022 18:11

I do - but only because my children pestered me. Had it been up to me i'd have waited until this weekend.

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/12/2022 18:12

I like to do the decorations on 15th December, don't know why, just a tradition.

But am slightly late this year. I had a day off work today so I've cleaned the living room and put up some decorations and lights around the bay window. My dh is out buying a Christmas tree right now which I'll decorate tomorrow morning if I have time, but we are going out for a Christmas lunch party. So it might be tomorrow night. That feels a wee bit late for us.

If I had young children I would have made more of an effort but the youngest is 19 and barely here, the oldest is 22 and doesn't get home for Christmas until Monday. As long as it's done by then ...

OldTinHat · 16/12/2022 18:13

Me. And I won't bother this year because I'm on my own and so it's not worth the faff.
