I was remembering back when I was kid, my Nan would pick us up from school, and take us back to her house where we would have a small tea.

One thing we loved was tidgy puds and gravy. I was gutted when they stopped doing tidgy puds

please don't tell me they have discontinued these...
does anyone know?

I've seen topics recently but can't think where so not that helpful

hellycat · 14/12/2022 18:02

Oh those cracknel sweets in the Quality Street! I had forgotten about them!

Also the coffee cream, why?! Three coffee creams with a coffee for breakfast for the rest of the week after Christmas, I miss those days.

Purplepeopleeaterz · 14/12/2022 18:02

Piglets crisps! I’m still distraught and they vanished in the late 80’s

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 14/12/2022 18:04

Loving the love for Burton’s Potato Puffs and Piglets.

A staple of the infant school playground in the 70s.

At this time of year, my heart aches for a Mc Vitie’s Tunis cake. Of course, a Madeira mix, lemons, dark chocolate, cream & some marzipan fruits may or may not have made their way into my trolleys in Sainsbury’s & Lidl over the last 24 hours.

Not my picture, merely an aspirational photo, I can guarantee with my baking skills it’ll look like it’s been run over by a tractor.

Blondeissimo · 14/12/2022 18:04

Coconut Boost - I think about them way too often.

suzyscat · 14/12/2022 18:06

Three things I miss and still think of often:

Sharwoods Singapore laksa

Knorr pilau rice stock cubes

Sara Lee chocolate gateau

Plus I'd love a Cadbury's fuss but not if it was made with cadburys current chocolate.

This thread is simultaneously joyous and painful. I'm so hungry for things I cannot have.

Chocolate spread. It was dark chocolate and not a hazelnut in sight

Lindt do a rather wonderful chocolate spread. They do one with hazelnuts and one without. Delicious on toast!

everydaysabeginning · 14/12/2022 18:10

Yes, Neopolitans... and Texan Bars.

felulageller · 14/12/2022 18:10

Old ribena.

In fact all the full sugar drinks you can no longer get.

5 alive as pp said.

Mini Kiev's.

McCoys traditional cheese crisps (old style)

ALongHardWinter · 14/12/2022 18:12

Young's potato pancakes. And something called Grillers. They were like a frozen slice of toast topper that you laid on a slice of toast and grilled until it melted. I loved the bacon and mushroom one. Can't remember who made them though, this was early -mid 1980's.

Cheesy Nik Naks. The spicy ones are 🤮

Yes! Cream and cheesy were the best! I quite like the spicy ones though, but hate rib n saucy and the scampi ones

ferneytorro · 14/12/2022 18:14

Hedgehog flavoured crisps. They were not around for long!

babasaclover · 14/12/2022 18:14

Beef and ready salted flavour discos!!!!

I'd give anything for a packet or two

hellycat · 14/12/2022 18:20

Does any Irish poster of 70s/80s era remember Farmer Brown's crisps. They were bloody lush. Ice cream men used to sell them a lot.

BlindMedusa · 14/12/2022 18:27

@Soubriquet Onken Frufoo! They also made three dark chocolate UFOs filled with a raspberry yoghurt.

ReluctantCourier · 14/12/2022 18:28

Fuse 😓

MotherOfPuffling · 14/12/2022 18:36

Hedgehog crisps. Tomato flavour, and the hedgehog flavour. Mad but brilliant early 80s heaven!

Really miss Apricot & Orange Ribena.

chocolateoranges33 · 14/12/2022 18:46

Beefy Square crisps. They were my favourite crisps ever!

Soubriquet · 14/12/2022 18:48

Ooo that packet of piglets reminds me of cheesy nibbles with the mouse on them.

Cheesy balls from Sainsburys are good, but not as good as cheesy nibbles

Recently departed in 2022 (on behalf of my Mum, who is simply bereft at this point), Heinz Ploughman’s pickle & Heinz Sweet Picalilli. We fear they’re a victim of Brexit (wanders off into the distance, shaking my fist at the sky).

Re Heinz Dh and I love Heinz Mustard Pickle and was a staple especially with a BBQ. Haven't seen it since covid. M&S burger pickle will have to do instead but I'm always on the lookout for Heinz Mustard pickle

So Did I. Most people didn't but I loved them.

I loved them too😭

Loads.

  1. ketchips - my mum used to get them from Bejam. Frozen chips with a thin thread of ketchup through the centre. Minging really.
  2. jars of mussels / cockles in tomato sauce. You never see them now but they always had them in supermarkets next to the plain ones.
  3. peperami cheesy. Vegetarian cheese version of a peperami. Weren’t around long but were glorious, yet also minging.
  4. Dairy milk with the purply blue shiny inner paper
  5. full size twiglets
  6. proper sosmix, the stuff you added water to that went bright pink
  7. Bernard Matthews turkey burgers with the layer of cheese on top under the breadcrumbs
All 80s / early 90s.

We must have the same mum! Loved the turkey cheese burgers I could destroy one of those! Also old Bernard Matthews did this lamb roast and it had this gorgeous tasting rind on it! Bloody loved that for Sunday dinner!
Food is my absolute obsession so as you can imagine there are loads of these for me but namely
Ready salted chipsticks
These tuckshop crisps called Bensons cheese nuggets
Terrys pyramint and bitz bars
Lovells milky lunch
Hubba bubba sofa in the pink can
Walkers toasted cheese crisps
Birdseye did these fish type shapes called seasiders they were lush
The original turkey drummers

TeaAddict235 · 14/12/2022 19:08

Jacobs honey crunch bars. Not the granola stuff that they sell nowadays.

Moments by Candbury's or Galaxy. Hazelnuts coated in caramel inside of a chocolate hexagonal cup.

Tunes & Halls throat lozenges with all the sugar not the substitute stuff.

Skatingqueen · 14/12/2022 19:15

Iceland used to do a pizza called Freschetta and it was like Dominoes. They don't sell them in the UK anymore.

Spira bars.

Wildlife bars

Freaky foot ice lollies with the chocolate toe.
