Just thinking how amazing it was. He is ten now. Four years ago I was wondering if he would ever talk.

OP posts:

That’s brilliant! Very Well Done to your DS 💕

My 4 year old GS is non verbal. He was chosen to play Joseph in his nursery concert. We all know Joseph is a non speaking role, but so many parents saw fit to either -

  • Tell my dil that Joseph doesn’t speak so that’s why he bagged that role or
  • Have ignored dil and DGS since he was chosen to play Joseph.

Your DS has given me hope that my DGS will, eventually, speak - when he’s good and ready.

Thank you OP. You must be so proud 💕

That must have been emotional for you OP, what a lovely thread, thanks for sharing to brighten up our day and also giving hope to other families . I bet his teachers were so proud as well. Fantastic for your DS. Have a lovely Christmas

It’s stories like this that give people hope that the world isn’t as awful as it sometimes seems.

An amazing achievement for him and a big well done to you for supporting him. Because he couldn’t have done this without someone that believes him. 🏆

My DS was diagnosed at 7. ADHD, on the spectrum and with signs of ODD. He is now a teenager. Last week we had the parents teacher conferences and one of his teacher described him as the BMOC. That’s apparently an Americanism for a popular kid that has a lot going for him. I started welling up in front of the poor teacher! 🫢

It’s been an incredible journey to get him here. So many times I was sad about his lack of friends and frustrated that adults could see that he was trying his best. I worried a lot about his future.

He is 15 now and still quirky, but he is finally appreciated for his crazy energy and out of the box thinking. He has found himself a bunch of nice friends that love him for whom he is. They think he is endearing and that his jokes are very funny.

Wishing your son and you all the best. And keep believing in him. Sounds like you always have his back and he knows that.

@IncessantNameChanger I have had an absolutely crappy day- and reading this has made me smile. You must be bursting with pride and happiness.

@RandomSunday they don’t sound very nice people. Surround yourself with people who will celebrate the wins with you. I know it’s your GC- but the principle stands- there are nicer and kinder people out there- DIL just needs to find them.

Postgraddope · 13/12/2022 22:02

How wonderful for you and your son ,Merry Christmas X
