Just thinking how amazing it was. He is ten now. Four years ago I was wondering if he would ever talk.

Wonderful. My son’s language and understanding never caught up but he can memorise and recite things but was never allowed to speak in any school event in case he messed up (as though NT kids don’t ever mess up their words!) so well done also to the school for giving him the opportunity to shine

Does he talk 'normally ' ? My son was non verbal at 7 and now 11 he can talk but like yoda!
If your son has caught up that's amazing !

No he has a severe Expressive, receptive and phonological speech disorder so you know if you heard him talk. But he is perfectly understandable. A behavioural optometrist has told me to get him a bone conduction ear phone/ hearing aid so he can hear his own voice. Also to push his finger into his cheek when he talks to engage his cheek muscles. We need to practice both!

He said "wow its so cold I'm absolutely freezing" last week which made me chuckle. More words than the "I'm cold" former option.

i had no idea he was narrating. Something i never thought i would ever see. Talking clearly and loudly enought to be understood in front of the whole school and parents.

i keep thinking life has dealt us a shitty hand but he is actually quite inspirational to me.
