What temperature is your house right now?

And at what point do you put the heating on?
Feels like I’ve run up a small fortune on my gas this week, trying to encourage everyone to wear jumpers, fluffy socks etc but still nippy!

22.5 and I cannot believe some of you have temps in the low teens

I have always preferred to be cooler so my heating is 19⁰ tops but this house is very cold so I can't get it that high and if I do it drops almost immediately! I would ideally be 18⁰ everywhere but I had all the smug in the summer heatwave so I mustn't complain!

janglealltheway · 11/12/2022 20:26

Currently 15 degrees according to the hive app. We've had the heating on for a bit today but also all wearing oodies/ blankets when sat on the sofa.

It's been around 11 degrees in the house during the day (while we're all out) for the past week.

xxcatcatcatxx · 11/12/2022 20:26

23.5 🤗 xxx

Fleabigg · 11/12/2022 20:29

It was 17 but we trained ourselves so well to layer up last month that it was feeling a bit too warm and we’ve turned it off for the night. We have been up and about doing chores for the past hour or so though.

Different strokes for different folks. I’d find 22.5 very unpleasant but can believe others like it.

& yes, that's not a typo, it's 7 degrees, I dress well

What type of house or is it a caravan?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/12/2022 20:32

Thermostat set at 18 all day from 7.30. Turned heating off about an hour ago and it will be off overnight. Feels toasty.

My 88 year old DGM's house is at 22 and I find it much too warm. I am in my thirties though.

13.1. I live in my bedroom during the winter, blankets up at the window, duvet over the door, oil fired radiator on. Sitting under a 4.5 tog duvet and 2 blankets. Without the heater on my room has been as low as 9.
I live in a grade 2 listed building with ancient sash windows and a front door with a gap round it. My landlord won't do anything.
I'm looking forward to a decent amount of snow because its an awesome insulator.

Badger1970 · 11/12/2022 20:36

Hall thermostat is 18c, and it's probably warmer in most rooms. LPG bulk tank so fuck knows what it's costing but I've just turned boiler down a bit to try and not run the tank dry before Christmas.

80s build detached, you'd think it was a tudor build from the drafts and cold... we've got newish glazing, cavity wall insulation and extra thick insulation in the loft.

It’s a free message board to write whatever you like. You can choose to scroll on and ignore. Or even hide those threads you don’t like or irritate you. It’s -3 where I am. Gas is expensive and it’s a reasonable current topic tbh.

Pourmeanotherwine · 11/12/2022 20:40

Thermostat in hallway set to 20 today, no idea how accurate it is. 20 feels comfortable with a jumper and 2 pairs of socks on, 19 is manageable if I add a blanket.

pursuedbyablackdog · 11/12/2022 20:51

Living room 26.2 log fire been going all day. Kitchen/ diner was 6C currently at 14c (due to cooking).
Bedrooms above the living at 18c bedroom above kitchen 16c (radiator came on about 20mins ago and will quick off shortly at 9:15. 3rd bedroom (smallest room in house) is at 15c but ds likes a cool bedroom!
Bathroom currently at 21c as about to shower and having a warmer room should reduce condensation!

hairymuffet · 11/12/2022 20:59

Between 10 and 11.5 all day. Put heating on at 6 30pm , off at 8 30pm. Now 14.5 degrees. Fully insulated loft, cavity wall insulation, reasonably new double glazing, 2 year old boiler. It's -7 outside.
Can't afford any more heating on.
Currently wearing leggings and thermal leggings, vest , thermal long sleeved vest hoodie, oodie and scarf 😱

ProserpinaProserpina · 11/12/2022 21:02

It’s probably 17 degrees in our bedroom currently? We had the log burner on earlier which heats a couple of radiators so it’s warmer than it has been! It was bloody tropical (low 20s) with the log burner going 😂 Downstairs will probably be 11/12 in the morning but our cottage is tiny so heats up pretty quickly with a portable heater popped on for a bit.

TheGriffle · 11/12/2022 21:11

20.5. We’ve had the heating on most of the day set to 21 as we’ve had family round and it went off half an hour ago. My hands and feet are chilly now though. It was 16 this morning when we woke up. Felt far too cold.

Do you get used to it? We had no heating until a couple of weeks ago and after a couple of weeks at 11/12⁰ I started to feel really chilled to the bone. 15 I find manageable but struggled below that for a longer period but wonder if I could get used to it

EverythingWobbles · 11/12/2022 21:32

We have ours on constant at 18 5am-10pm then it's set to come on if drops below 15 during the night.

Ayeaken · 11/12/2022 21:39

Hive currently says 20.4 but it feels more like 2.4!

Must be malfunctioning or broken?

20 c
Heating has been on all day

JackTorrance · 11/12/2022 21:59

17.5, the evening temperatue I have it at. Keep at it 17 during the day. I'd much rather it was 20+.

My living room has three radiators though and carpet so if I keep the doors closed I think it gets a degree or two higher than the thermostat temperature in the hallway.

I would honestly cry if it was 12 degrees.

4.5 tog is a summer duvet. You need 13 tog for the winter.

Franticbutterfly · 11/12/2022 23:10

Living room was 15c when I just looked. We've been out this evening and didnt have the fire or the heating going.

I have to a certain extent. If I get chilly I put a hat, fingerless gloves and woolly socks on.
I wouldn't cope if I didn't have my oil fired radiator.
