What do you use to clear condensation off your windows?

We have puddles every day that are half ice.

I'm dreaming of an amazing contraption that makes clearing it all a breeze and a pleasure… I imagine you're all doing to say towels and elbow grease! The bottom of the garden doors are the worst!

Ps thank you - I am ridiculously excited by the thought of one of these 😅😅

This is the best thread in the world; I'd no idea a window vac existed and now I'm going to spend the morning choosing and buying! Thank you!

TheHauntedPencilCase · 10/12/2022 11:12

I've been using a microfiber but came on to ask for alternatives! Great Post.

SheWoreYellow · 10/12/2022 11:13

I’m now tempted by the window vac. Is this the Karcher one people have? Does anyone know how noisy it is? Noisy things piss me off.

I've been thinking about buying one of these, but the price of the karcher ones put me off. Is the Screwfix model effective? I might get one

Moisture collecting grubby pants? 😄

NeedToKnow101 · 10/12/2022 11:15

I've just ordered the Screwfix one, inspired by this thread. It's god good reviews.

DominoBlue · 10/12/2022 11:18

I now have a Karcher window vac and its great but the best bit is that the kids love using it and do it without being asked. So its a win win! They even washed the outside of the windows so they could suck all the water up again.

This morning, I used a pair of pants from the wash basket. Luckily my pants have quite a bit of material to them and are cotton. Did the job very well...

😂This made me laugh.

I just use an old muslin and it soaks up the water really well.

reelcat · 10/12/2022 11:28

We had a karcher one that lasted years. We recently replaced it with a Bosch and I prefer the Bosch although the water tank is slightly smaller

How very date you. They were not grubby, my food is most
hygienic

DangItDogbert · 10/12/2022 11:29

Sounds stupid, but it works.....rubbing shaving foam onto the glass.
Rub it well so you have no smears and voilà, no condensed windows.

WomensLandArmy · 10/12/2022 11:29

FFS foof and dare

I have this one, it’s brilliant

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/12/2022 11:32

Oh I'm glad to read this thread i ordered a window vac a couple of days ago its arriving today hopefully! My conservatory is actually driving me mad so I'm hoping this will be the solution

zighead · 10/12/2022 11:35

I use the Karcher window vac but absolutely detest the squeaky noise it makes whilst I do it the windows. It's great for the shower screen and bathroom tiles though.

dudsville · 10/12/2022 11:37

It's such a pain, isn't it! It's added a good few minutes to my morning routine going around all the windows. I have a large stock of cotton flannels, they dry quickly on the radiator. My windows have never been so clean inside!

BringOnAutumn · 10/12/2022 12:16

I have ordered one! I can collect it in 30 minutes! 🥳🥳

There's a secondary glazing film my DH fits to the windows in the summer. It keeps the rooms warmer and creates a barrier so there's no condensation.

Liebig · 10/12/2022 12:21

Just get a dehumidifier, geez.

icebearforpresident · 10/12/2022 12:27

I got the Karcher window vac a few weeks ago and it actually is amazing. Very quiet and no squeaks. Really annoyed I didn’t get one earlier, we have terrible condensation in our bedroom, going to need to re plaster at the end of winter because one wall is covered in stains.

Pancakeorcrepe · 10/12/2022 12:41

I’ve just been leaving it 😂 didn’t know it was a thing to clean it every day

We have one. Doesn’t stop the condensation accumulating overnight 🤷‍♀️

You can get mould and mildew if it sits and (if your windows are wood) they can begin to rot. It’s easier to ke p on top of it.

Minky window cloth is fantastic. Quick wipe, streak free every time.
