Jesus, no shit Sherlock. Prince of privilege should wake up & realise he is very much at the higher end of it.

In other news water is wet.

😂a couple of days ago my response to something obvious DD said was 'is the Pope a Catholic'? She hadn't come across that before and goes to a Catholic school (long story, we're not RC) and gave me an odd look...

She has now been introduced the the phrase, as well as 'does a bear sh*t in the woods'.

'Is water wet?' would be another...

Well nah - as my kids would say.

As the "spare", he and his wife were always going to be playing second fiddle to William and Kate, however glamorous and photogenic his wife perceives herself to be.

They were supposed to play ‘second fiddle’ but they proved to be more popular and interesting than Kate and William. The public appetite for Harry and Meghan is/was greater. This put a few noses out of joint because the so called ‘spare’ and his American actress wife were getting all the accolades and praise. This wasn’t supposed to happen
This is the truth of the matter. People can deny it all they want

They had a burst of popularity, everyone loves a 'happy ever after'. Whether that would have continued or whether it would have settled down no-one knows.

I could see a good carve up of constitutional, traditional roles for W&K, and a more edgy, youthful role for H&M, but that was conditional on them accepting being second fiddle in the constitutional bits and creating their own portfolio in other areas.

Hooverphobe · 07/12/2022 18:12

@Lampzade nah. They really weren’t. That’s a grifter grifting so hard she had to walk up and down past the DM offices to get noticed. Katie Price’s drink-driving hearing got more media attention. Legends in their own minds. 😂

He enjoys the hierarchy of being a Duke/Prince though doesn’t he. If he didn’t like or approve of hierarchies he wouldn’t use his titles and be plain mister.

I agree!

But am happy to be proved wrong 😀

If they are genuinely against hierarchy, and the toxic RF (plus the way the RF has benefitted from slavery and racist imperialism) then they would renounce their titles. Until then, I suspect their issue is not the institution itself, but their place within it.

I’m sure the documentary will be a robust and honest account from H&M.

Apart from the fact that we already know they’ve used footage of
a Harry Potter premiere
Katie Price’s court appearance
official photos from INSIDE the house during a visit with Desmond Tutu, implying the photos were unofficial and an invasion of their privacy in a private residence 🙄

And invaded the Queens privacy by filming in her private residence.

ArcaneWireless · 07/12/2022 21:14

I would be very interested in what they had to say if I could be convinced that their story would be entirely accurate.

I’m not fond of ‘setting scenes’ and using footage relating to other events to “tell a story”. That just makes it feel like a story when I would prefer to see the truth.

I’ve no doubt it must have felt bloody awful at times. So speak the truth instead of telling a story.

I don't get all this about the extravagant curtsey that Meghan demonstrated she did to The Queen - at Harry's request. I understood (correct me if wrong) that there is no compunction for American citizens to curtsey to any member of the Royal Family, including the late Queen. If you watch the Obamas meeting the Queen and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace (plenty of clips on YouTube), Michelle Obama didn't curtsey, she just shook hands. I'm sure it was the same when other US Presidents' wives were introduced to the Queen.
So my question is, why did Harry tell Meghan she had to curtsey and why did Meghan make such a thing of it in the documentary? Maybe it was yet another made up anecdote to paint the Royal Family as ridiculous.

Easy to mock but can you imagine growing up being constantly told your sibling outranks you and is more important? Having to bow to members of your family? It is a fucked up institution to be born into.

But that’s just typical Harry. All he can see is what he didn’t get. He doesn’t see the amount of fuss and favours he gets from his rank. He doesn’t see that he was much higher in that hierarchy than most. That he had a life of privilege. A huge royal wedding, houses, that his dream of going to war took a lot of organising (funny how he can stay out of the spotlight when he really wants to!). I’m sick of hearing from him.

Zoopet · 09/12/2022 22:50

I just don't care.....

Hooverphobe · 10/12/2022 04:31

@DillyWest its as absurd as one of us marrying a Kennedy and then mocking saluting the President or the way Americans place their hand on their heart when singing the anthem. I don’t really get the history (although can operate google) - but I’m sure I’d manage to do it without comparing it to scenes from MASH.
