What is the best place to live near Kings Mill Hospital Mansfield.

Hi, I am an Asian and will be relocating to UK as a Doctor to Kings Mill Hospital. I with my Husband and 2 Kids, age (5 years & 1.7 years). I would like to know that what is the best place to live near the Hospital. A place with great schooling for my daughter and around a 2 to 3 bed house or apartment with a rental of around £300 to £500 / month. A place where my husband can find a good job as he is a project manager. A place where good grocery is easy in access. and importantly A place where people are friendly and are not raciest, though I have heard that in UK people are not at all raciest and there are very strict rules against racism, and no one is allowed for any such act but still me being a mother of 2 daughters have some butterflies in me. I hope you guys can help me out with some good suggestions.

Your not going to find anywhere at £300 to rent you will be looking at £500 as a minimum you have a variety of places there is Mansfield it'self then you have estates like ladybrook and then there's Sutton in ashfield and Kirkby in ashfield that both have estates I can say that Primary schools are generally great secondary schools are not the best.

Yes lived in and around Mansfield my whole life as for your husbands job there are loads of factory's that produce different things it's will all depend on his industry that he wants to work in, there is actually a supermarket right next to the hospital and there is at least 1 big supermarket in every town close

I would have said Ravenshead but that's a lot more expensive.

Berry Hill is ok too but again more pricey. Do you drive OP? Forest Town is not a bad area and would be cheaper but a bit further out.

That is good and what about the culture around the place, what kind of locality lives in.

@ArnoldBee what is the distance from the hospital?

Mansfield is not as diverse as for example Nottingham but I think people are generally friendly. I've lived in Mansfield for 14 years now and the only thing I miss from my south coast origins is the seaside.

@annonymousse no I do not drive, I believe it will be my husband's responsibility to drove me to my office :), but ill definitely learn soon. how much pricey is Berry Hill?

To put it bluntly north notts isn't very diverse but that's not to say that you shouldn't live there.

Berry Hill is a very nice part of Mansfield.

Rents in Mansfield have really shot up, when I was renting there 10 years ago we were paying £600 a month for a 4 bed 3 storey townhouse, that is likely to cost a minimum of £750 a month now. As for the best places to live I would look at Berry Hill or the new estates near King's Mill, Berry Hill has two parts, the older area has a mixture of housing on leafy streets with a park, Berry Hill primary school is a lovely school, the other part is the Quarry which is a fairly new housing estate ( built within the last 15 years) with a mixture of types of housing, has a small shopping centre with a general store, bakery, hairdressers, a bistro & coffee shop. Berry Hill is 10 minutes drive from King's Mill hospital.

Look on Right Move for ideas of rental prices, you may actually find it would be cheaper to buy rather than rent if you could be in a position to buy.

I just did a quick search on Rightmove and nothing is coming up with a maximum of £700 per month. Have a look on Rightmove.co.uk. If you see something you like you can always come back and ask about a specific area

As for rent I pay £500 in Kirkby in ashfield so it's like 5mins without traffic to kings milll but my landlord is ok and we've done some renovations for him so he's keeping at £500 for now but for somewhere similar you will be look at least £600 and it's a small 2 bed house. And yes Mansfield isn't the most diverse place in England but most people are friendly enough.

It's not the most diverse area but people are basically friendly. It's a former coal mining area and quite down to earth. There are loads of outdoor activities and great countryside too. You might find getting involved in activities/clubs with children is a good way of connecting. Also new-build areas are sometimes a bit easier as everyone is new to the area.

My Parents in law have had excellent care at Kings Mill ❤️.

The surrounding, schooling, Job opportunities near to Hospital I can go for 3 beds also. I did search on right move I do find some houses in around 750 to 800 but not sure how far or close from the hospital and about the locality.

Can you drive? Somewhere like Newark or Southwell?

Berry Hill is the best place in Mansfield itself. Mansfield is not the nicest place though.

Ravenshead is a very upmarket village but it’s pricey (for good reason). Linby and Papplewick are also nice. You’re going to struggle for your budget though.

Sutton, Kirkby etc are best avoided.

You're going to need to be prepared to pay way more than £700 per month I'm afraid unless you're prepared to live in a not very nice area.

PIL have property in Sutton. It's in a bad area on a very run down council estate with social problems. Its a tiny two bed with a box room that isn't large enough to put a bed into. Rent on that is £800.

@LIZS are you talkin about sothwell road, yup that is possible though I cannot drive at the moment, but my husband is there to provide that facility.

@Ciri by sutton you mean Sutton-in-ashfield.

Ciri I lived in Mansfield on & off for 5 years, in all that time I never felt unsafe going out alone at night, unlike my home city of Sheffield, I would comfortably go to the shop late at night but back in Sheffield once I was home after collecting ds that was it, the door was locked & never opened again until morning.

The amount you are paying isn't going to get you to a nicer area.

It's not diverse, but you'll come across ignorance rather than hostility.

Hucknall is probably your best bet.

It's a smaller town, all the usual facilities, good transport links.

I'd arrive, and settle somewhere shorter term, then check out a better area when you've found your feet.

You are not going to get any where to rent at that price.
