What’s the temperature in your home?

I’m curious. What temperature is your home right now and where in the country are you? What sort of property do you live in?

4 bed 70s detached in the southeast and we are 18 degrees after having the heating on for a couple of hours earlier. Without hearing we were at 17 degrees.

I live in Cornwall. 18 degrees the heating is usually set to. I have just eaten ice cream though, now I am freezing and boosted the heating to a decadent 20 degrees. Just in this room mind. We have Tado TRVs and can control every room individually.

Just in a 50's semi in a cul-de-sac...

Beanbagtrap · 05/12/2022 20:18

Living room is a toasty 22 with the fire on.

Rest of the house is 14. We haven't put central heating on yet this year so it's all the family in the living room until the sprint to bed where a hot water bottle awaits.

South east 3 bed.

BHRK · 05/12/2022 20:21

19-20. We’ve got the heating on

Cookerhood · 05/12/2022 20:21

South East. The heating is set at 20 from 5pm - 9.30pm. It's currently 19.9. Apparently the lowest it has been today (according to Hive) is 16.2 at 8am.

daretodenim · 05/12/2022 20:22

Depends on the room, weather outside and time of day!

My office is a Baltic 15-16C most of the time.

The sitting room is about 17C usually when hearing turned down.

Bedrooms 16-17C.

Heating set to 15C overnight and when it's on in the day for a few hours, it's at 19C.

Been doing this for a few months and heating bill just arrived for double the normal amount..when house was at 21C almost the whole time.

I've been buying up warm jumpers from Vinted!

Cookerhood · 05/12/2022 20:22

Detached.
DS in a flat with people above & below hasn't had to put the heating on yet & is warm & toasty.

daretodenim · 05/12/2022 20:22

1930s terrace, northern England.

Mydogatemypurse · 05/12/2022 20:22

Very cold tonight. My heating bill is going through the roof, so I'm having a break from heating whilst it's milder. Dreading how this is going to pan out.

Smellsofbeef · 05/12/2022 20:23

4 bed semi in wales. Boiler keeps house at around 19 degrees. Heating has to kick in fairly regularly so am sure my bill will be big this month.

OldTinHat · 05/12/2022 20:23

200yr old terrace, 11.5 degrees.

OldTinHat · 05/12/2022 20:23

South East btw!

Greensleevevssnotnose · 05/12/2022 20:23

South East heating is on 22 degrees. Also got candles lit and my oodie on its probably more like 25 tbh. Noticeably cooler in other rooms

HandScreen · 05/12/2022 20:24

Victorian terrace, 20.5 with the heating on.

BigsyMalone · 05/12/2022 20:24

Uk. Cold.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 05/12/2022 20:25

19.1 the heating is just about to go off after being on for the last 2 hours.

RavenT · 05/12/2022 20:27

18 degrees 3 bed 1960s semi. Thermostat set to 18 degrees from 4-8pm.

cobblers123 · 05/12/2022 20:27

19.5 deg. mid terrace 30s chalet house, 1 huge bedroom, 2 receps, hall, kit and utility.

Heating on low 17 deg during day so cuts in when temp goes down, heating is off overnight.

South coast.

Xenia · 05/12/2022 20:28

At this exact moment in my home office with the central heating on 4.30pm to 10.30pm (and 2 hours when we get up) it is 25C. I expect my next bill will be massive.

Caspianberg · 05/12/2022 20:29

Have Tado thermostats . Rooms in use 18-21 degrees. Guest rooms not being used heating on frost protection and that’s down to 11 degrees. It’s -3 outside. Alps.
House would easily go down to 5 degrees or colder within 1-2 days of heating off

QueenWenceslas · 05/12/2022 20:29

21 degrees. Detached new build, Midlands.

CheshireCats · 05/12/2022 20:30

Was 13 degrees when I got home this evening. Currently 24 degrees with log burner on.

alittlequinnie · 05/12/2022 20:30

Big stupid victorian end terrace - but a bit of a strange end terrace as our house faces the other way to the rest of the terrace so my back wall is the side wall of next door - no windows on my back wall.

Downstairs is way colder than upstairs - Hive says it is 11 degrees in my dining room - two outside walls - but it's about 14 in my bedroom.

I put the heating on for 3 hours when I in from work at 6 but it's still only 10 degrees downstairs.

We've GOT to get some wall insullation somehow. We haven't got a cavity to put cavity wall insulation in - we're going to have to try to put some sort of cladding on the outside?

We were supposed to look at solar panels as whole roof is south facing - but DH is being a bit slow on this.

If we use the same energy as last year our bill is predicted at £9K - was about £3K last year.

We're in the midlands.

I remember various issues with various governments over the years but I don't remember EVER a sitution where two professional people working full time could not afford to put their heating on! It's crazy!

RedAutumn · 05/12/2022 20:30

18 degrees. We're in the Midlands. Detached house. Heating on earlier but off now.

jenkel · 05/12/2022 20:31

Ours is set to come on for about 6 hours in the evening and 3 hours in the morning and the thermostat is set to 19 degrees. By choice though I would have it warmer, we do have an open fire which brings temp up a bit. Turned the underfloor heating off too. Detached house in the south east. May treat ourselves over Christmas and put the underfloor heating on. Have invested in electric throws
