What’s the temperature in your home?

I’m curious. What temperature is your home right now and where in the country are you? What sort of property do you live in?

4 bed 70s detached in the southeast and we are 18 degrees after having the heating on for a couple of hours earlier. Without hearing we were at 17 degrees.

The heat came on at 7, for 30 mins and it is currently 16 in here. 😕 I am cold, teens say they are warm and they are in the lounge (as opposed to lying in bed).

Heavy frost outside.

Wheretheskyisblue · 10/12/2022 09:30

16 at present. Heating has been on 3.5 hours and it has only gone up 2 degrees. - 6 outside.

Kissmybaubles · 10/12/2022 10:39

It’s on 18 degrees when it’s just me home and I wear my oodie or 20 degrees when DH is home (he feels the cold, but insists on wearing a t shirt and shorts in the house 🙄)… saying that it seems to be on some sort of a timer and isn’t on all the time. We live in a new build though so the house holds the heat well

Xenia · 10/12/2022 21:01

Very cold outside today. When I had the fan heater on in my room it was about 6 degrees warmer in here than the other rooms but now the evening central heating is on we are over 20C again (I need to do my monthly meter reading tomorrow which will result in the probably a much bigger bill than the month before). (There is no thermostat on our heating)

jackshitus · 10/12/2022 21:06

Yeah, our 18 degree all day plan has come unstuck now it’s really cold.

Stupid, uninsulated house with crap windows didn’t actually make it up to 18 today with it being so cold outside!

We were back to shivering. Abandoned the heating at 4pm, switched it off and all sat in the living room with the electric heater on. Rest of the house was bitter, no one relished getting up for the loo and me and dh tossed a coin over who would go into the kitchn to heat up dinner!

Everyone was wrapped up warm in their beds at 8pm on screens and with hot water bottles.

-2 outside atm. We’ve been out all day so the heating was off. Hive was showing as 14 degrees.

Whacked heating up and is showing on the hive as 20 degrees. I have my oodie on, it’s cosy.

NibbledSwitch · 10/12/2022 21:14

16 or 17 degrees without
21 with... on thermostat
Modern semi well insulated

Athenen0ctua · 10/12/2022 21:18

Thermostat in the hall was at 13, sitting room with the door shut got up to 16.

SweetPetrichor · 10/12/2022 21:53

Approx 16 degrees, give or take. Heating is on 1hr in the morning, 1hr at midday and 1hr in the evening. No thermostat so just runs on programmed times. It’s fine under a heated throw.

I just did my monthly meter reading and the electricity reading is just a bit more use than the month before but the gas is 3xm ore and I think will be £500 more than the month before. That surprises me as gas is supposed to be cheaper than electricity but it must be that having a fan heater on in one room is much less use of power than heating a whole house.

Fufumcgoo · 11/12/2022 09:51

Pre 1900 semi. 13.4 when I got up this morning (heating off since 9pm) currently 15.4 with heating having been on 6.45am-9am.

WhatIsThisPlease · 11/12/2022 09:52

Thermostat in the hall said 11.5 when I came downstairs this morning. The heating went off at 7pm last night.

If it's colder outside then it will take more energy to maintain the temperature inside, so I don't think you can directly compare with last month. I used 300kwh in gas in November, tracking at 600kwh for December based on usage up to yesterday morning, and that was before having the heating on in the daytime this weekend. I only have gas CH.

Seriously? You resurrected this thread about house temperatures from December for that?

If you want Dadsnet there's nothing stopping you setting one up.

garlictwist · 06/08/2023 06:49

In Yorkshire. It is usually about 19 without the heating on at the moment.

Xenia · 06/08/2023 09:39

20C here in London inside, quite warm (no heating on of course but the sun was out earlier and I nearly went out fora quick sunbathe)

Oblomov23 · 06/08/2023 10:08

Hive now. But before that, for 20 years it was set at 19.
