2 profiteroles for pudding. Is this OK?

I'm.having some friends round this evening- newish friends.

We are having blinis with smoked salmon then slow roast pork, dauphinois potatoes and savoy cabbage.

I made and froze profiteroles last week to have for pudding and there are only two each! I think this will look a bit stupid but I can't really be arsed to make any more.

Is it not really worth serving them? They will look a bit lonely in the bowl. We clearly ate too many of the little buggers when I made them. Obviously they had to be tested...

I know this is a first world problem and I count myself lucky to even have profiteroles.

I’d get another dessert too so you can either have profiteroles or something else. But yes, if they’re good ball size, it’s not really a portion…

TakeYourFinalPosition · 25/11/2022 10:23

Could you go grab some shop made ones and mix them in?

I’d do that. Or eat the remaining profiteroles and buy something else for dessert!

But I'm impressed that you made your own.

Get a second dessert option - 2 is too few!

Serve them with some fancy ice cream?

Littlepiggiesinblankets · 25/11/2022 10:26

I would judge someone serving two for pudding. I know I should be kind and understanding, etc., etc. but I love profiteroles and am a hungry hamster 😅

You could maybe stretch with vanilla ice cream. But you could also keep them all for yourself and give your guests something different.

Sprouttreesareamazing · 25/11/2022 10:27

Ice cream, Flake scattered on top. Pile of whipped cream... With 2 profiteroles that's plenty!

ApolloandDaphne · 25/11/2022 10:27

I would serve them with a scoop of chocolate mousse and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

DeliberatelyObtuse · 25/11/2022 10:28

Keep them for yourself and make a super easy pudding (lemon posset/bannoffee pie) or else get loads of cheese

saffy7 · 25/11/2022 10:28

Or, on top of a cheesecake! Yum

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 25/11/2022 10:28

Too few. As pp have said, get something else to go with them.

Playdoughcaterpillar · 25/11/2022 10:28

Bulk out with strawberries/cream/ice cream? Chocolate ice cream would be good. Its too small otherwise

Reallybadidea · 25/11/2022 10:29

Missing the point, but don't profiteroles go really soggy in the freezer?

TheChosenTwo · 25/11/2022 10:30

2?? TWO?! Have a word with yourself.
2 is what I’d eat while serving the pudding - 4 absolute bare minimum.
Two profiteroles… <walks off tutting and shaking head>

Genius!

NoSquirrels · 25/11/2022 10:31

Ce cream, extra dessert like bite-size brownies, plus some fruit like raspberries? Make it look intentional. I’d be miffed at only 2 profiteroles, and I’m not the world’s biggest dessert fan.

maroonhaze · 25/11/2022 10:31

Two profiteroles is what I'd eat whilst serving them. It's not a pudding.

Co-op ones are really good if that's what you want to serve.

Or you could do a selection of mini puddings.

Or just eat them yourself and get/make something else.

They will judge you and probably assume you are a Mumsnet competitive under-eater.

FlounderingFruitcake · 25/11/2022 10:31

Your menu sounds delicious but yeah 2 profiteroles is a bit measly! I’d get some nice ice cream and maybe some strawberries or raspberries to bulk it out.

tealandteal · 25/11/2022 10:34

Make a profiterole mess/sundae? Layer whipped cream, chocolate ganache, chop the profiteroles in held, add in some fruit like cherries or raspberries. Throw in some bought brownies.

SeasonaIVag · 25/11/2022 10:38

More like loseroles than profiteroles if I’m honest

go and buy some!

JaninaDuszejko · 25/11/2022 10:38

It depends how big they are but on the other hand I'm from Scotland and am slightly horrified you're only offering 1 dessert. That says more about me and my family than you. Go to a deli and get a nice alternative then offer people a choice. Rest of your menu sounds delicious, I might have to come and visit 😋.

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2022 10:39

Two!! Goodness me! A stingy portion would be three, five is better. An odd number always looks better on the plate. If you eke them out with ice cream and chocolate mousse as someone suggested that would be OK, but I prefer the suggestion of buying some extras and adding the ice cream and mousse

Danni675 · 25/11/2022 10:39

It's not enough- I'd do a second pud and give people a choice. You can do a very quick sort of Eton Mess-ish pud with bought meringue, whipped cream and a bag of frozen berries- warm them up with a spoon of sugar and squeeze of lemon, blitz and sieve. Then just assemble broken-up meringue, cream and the berry sauce at the last minute. (obviously can use fresh berries if you like but they are not so good at this time of year.)

TenoringBehind · 25/11/2022 10:40

Get another pudding (lemon tart, cheesecake?) and some berries and offer people all. Most will take a bit of each and won’t then mind or no the that there’s only 2 profiteroles.

but yes, you definitely can’t just serve 2 each and leave it at that.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 25/11/2022 10:41

Ok pointers so far:

*Cheeseboard

*More pudding

*Yet more pudding

Sounds like a good plan to me!

FridayNightIsWineNight · 25/11/2022 10:44

Either -
Buy more and serve alongside the home made ones
Make a cheesecake and use them as decoration on top
Buy/make a second dessert
Do a trio of desserts (best solution!)
