I've got DD:
Christmas bedspread
Julia Donaldson book advent
Wooden keepsake advent
Elf on the shelf activities book
Little Miss Christmas book
Reindeer headband
Christmas PJs

Baby DS has got a white chocolate calender, a wooden keepsake advent and PJs.

Its actually quite shocking the amount claiming they never heard of it, have you not been on the 'christmas forum' before?

Its just basically a box on the 1st where people bring out their reusable xmas stuff (books, film, bedding if they have it) and add in that years xmas PJs and jumpers and use the stuff all month instead of doing a xmas eve box.

Yes I went on them promptly left, because on the Christmas forum the Christmas discussion starts on 26th December for the following year which is bizarro

healthadvice123 · 24/11/2022 18:28

What is a dec 1st box ? Is this now a thing , like xmas isn't pricey enough for parents
Some will be struggling to even do xmas day let alone a box on dec 1st

Brigante9 · 24/11/2022 18:29

What fresh new shite is this? There are people unable to afford to put on their heating and some troll posts this codswallop!

No box, but my DC gets their Christmas PJs, party outfit and Christmas jumper on 1st.

JaneJeffer · 24/11/2022 18:31

All the posters on here ‘you what? etc’ they all know exactly what they are.
It’s just an excuse to be superior and go on about the environment.

Nope, I have never been on the Christmas forum.

If it's a box of the stuff that one already has, fair enough. And I see the logic of any Christmas jumpers etc being given well before the day itself.

I suppose the nearest I have is 'help me get the Christmas decorations and stuff down from the loft day' when I persuade my adult DDs to come round and then feed them lunch or brunch!

BIWI · 24/11/2022 18:32

Sorry I haven't read the full thread (which I do do usually). But I was so taken aback by your thread @TinyPhotoFrames that I searched your name to see if you are genuine.

You only have one other thread, which is about being poor Shock

... and yet here you are starting a thread about buying even more stuff for your DC.

Bizarre Confused

slowquickstep · 24/11/2022 18:34

Hee haw bugger aw as they would say here and that us the way it will be staying.

QueenBeex · 24/11/2022 18:35

Nothing untill December 25th.

The 26th is prime xmas time when people talk about what they got and shop the sale and share what bargain they found and what gifts where big hits... it would be wierd to ban all talk of xmas the day after lol.

The forums pretty dead for a lot of the year, doesnt really start to get lively until around October.

Cnp41 · 24/11/2022 16:27

Their what now? Um. Nothing? I will be hoping this is something that doesn't catch on. I think I must be a grinch though 😂🎅

Same here! This is the first I’ve heard of such a thing!
Like Christmas isn’t expensive enough!

Its the opposit of consumerist given the other option would be to not store the stuff there for you would be throwing it out and rebuying it every year.

I suprised at people hatred for storage lol.

Rather shows that people don't understand what it is.

From OP I thought it was buying new stuff to give.

Now it seems to have morphed in to "getting the box of Christmas stuff out of the attic"

So now I'm even more confused!

saraclara · 24/11/2022 18:38

ExceptOP said at the beginning of her post:

I've got DD:... So presumably she actually bought all those things, rather than brought them down from the loft

ohfook · 24/11/2022 18:39

I do a 1st December box but not a Christmas Eve box so the kids have more use out of the stuff.
It's got the same stuff in every year so I'm not rebuying anything. Basically some Christmas books that they enjoy, their wooden advent calendars, some Christmas dvds that they pick up and then search for on Netflix, some Christmas cookie cutters and a magic key to put out for Santa. Oh and a wooden chalkboard calendar thing that I write on all the Christmassy things we're doing in December.

Just Advent calendars. They've chosen chocolate ones, I won a Bonne Maman jam one and I have a picture one I bring out every year for me as well. think there might be some other picture ones we kept. They are teens but this is all we ever did, other stuff is for Christmas Day!

foxlover47 · 24/11/2022 18:41

Oh no I hope
My 10 year old hasn't heard about this :(
I've never heard of a December 1st box , been a parent for 26 years so I'm guessing this is recent?
I've seen elf balloons to celebrate the elf arrival and fancy cupcakes but really haven't ever heard of this

JaneJeffer · 24/11/2022 18:41

So just taking out your Christmas things then?
Nobody throws everything away and buys it all again the following year Confused

cherish123 · 24/11/2022 18:42

What on earth is this?
Sounds like a huge advent calendar! Far too much!

Tiredmum100 · 24/11/2022 18:43

My children's Christmas 1st box has a pair of rubber gloves each, bottle of bleach, scrubbing brushes and dusters. If they want Christmas presents they know the house needs to be clean.

Wam90 · 24/11/2022 18:44

mynameiscalypso · 24/11/2022 16:32

DS has a chocolate advent calendar. He does not like chocolate. I do.

😂😂 I like your thinking!

moggiek · 24/11/2022 18:44

More shit for landfill. Stop being conned, you’re smarter than this!
