I'm on holiday in Gran Canaria staying in Maspalomas.
The first few days was nice but I'm bored
Wake up have breakfast
Lie around the pool
Have lunch
Lie around pool
Then go get changed go for dinner
Next day same
We did a boat trip and have been to the beach but it's only sunbathing and pubs.
Three days left and I'm bored
The shops are all the same -fridge magnets ,key rings etc
Went to playa del Ingles -constantly approached to buy things off the sellers
Anyone else ?

There's a World Cup on! Get yourself down the pub and watch the footie 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I've been to Maspalomas. Palmitos Park and Aqualand are nearby. Melonares is a town nearby which is absolutely lovely. I'd recommend you get a taxi there for the day

We try and plan to do something every other day on a holiday like this. We can only sit by a pool for a couple of hours. Tenerife is the best Canary Island for this as there is so much to see and do, but Gran Canaria is good too.

I would really recommend hiring a car if you're able/comfortable doing so - it makes such a difference.

Our week would look like:

  • Day 1 - chill out day - wander around the area, buy some snacks and water, sit by the pool for a bit and relax
  • Day 2 - trip out - maybe a boat trip
  • Day 3 - lazy start to the day, leisurely breakfast, go out for a walk along the front, stop for a drink somewhere or lunch, then head back and sit by the pool for a couple of hours then dinner. Hopefully a nearby bar will have some live entertainment, or the hotel's is decent.
  • Day 4 - trip out somewhere - maybe hire a car and explore the island - lots of interesting scenery - Top places to visit by car
  • Day 5 - if we've still go the car we'll go out again and see a bit more.
  • Day 6 - repeat of day 3
  • Day 7 - you're off home

We find that kind of thing a nice mix of relaxation and exploring.

I did the "lounge by the pool every day" holiday when I was in my teens and early 20s and I can't imagine doing it now - I'd also be bored off my tits and would end up drinking far too much!

Mogan is lovely, like a mini Venice.

Palmitos Park is worth a visit.

As is the Crocodile Park.

I found the Canary islands really dull. Although I did prefer Tenerife. I love beach holidays but only if you can swim, snorkel and do watersports. The sea's always cold in the Canaries.
You're obviously on the wrong holiday.
We like cruises, loads to do if you want- entertainment, spa, gym etc, different places to see most days, gorgeous food. City breaks are also good especially if there is lots to see.

We are currently in a taxi going into Puerto Rico
It looks really nice
And plan on going into Mogan too
Weather is lovely still too

That sounds like a more balanced plan of activities.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday 🙂

That's the Atlantic for you.
