I'm on holiday in Gran Canaria staying in Maspalomas.
The first few days was nice but I'm bored
Wake up have breakfast
Lie around the pool
Have lunch
Lie around pool
Then go get changed go for dinner
Next day same
We did a boat trip and have been to the beach but it's only sunbathing and pubs.
Three days left and I'm bored
The shops are all the same -fridge magnets ,key rings etc
Went to playa del Ingles -constantly approached to buy things off the sellers
Anyone else ?

Sounds like the wrong holiday for you….try a mix of sun and interesting sights, for example Barcelona, the Amalfi coast, Croatia….so many interesting places with a bit of sun thrown in. Greek Islands with tons of beautiful villages to explore.

Oh dear OP, a hard life indeed 😂
Strange post indeed - you’ll get ripped apart on here for being ungrateful in the midst of a cost of living crisis!!

Indeed.

mast0650 · 22/11/2022 20:23

I'd get bored with that too. But that's why I would never go on that kind of holiday. Why not book something with more sights to explore or more sports activities next time? How do you like to spend your time?

poppym12 · 22/11/2022 20:32

Have a walk across the dunes. You might see something to brighten your day (or send you scurrying back to the boring pool!!)Grin.

I go to the Canary Islands often and tbh, Gran Canaria is my least favourite.

hahahaha I had only meant the first indeed… was talking to DH at the same time as writing and unfortunately MN doesn’t have an edit button 🤷🏼‍♀️

@cptartapp Absolutely. Incredible place and we went to a mosaic museum nearby that was pretty amazing too.

Yup, I certainly got more than I bargained for, it's was impossible to keep eye contact!

Lovetotravel123 · 22/11/2022 20:54

Hire a car and explore. Get a guide book or look online for things to do there. Plan a different activity or trip each day.

TabithaTittlemouse · 22/11/2022 20:56

Go to Morgan on market day or explore the mountains. You are wasting your life.

Fufumcgoo · 22/11/2022 21:00

Are your diamond shoes too tight as well op? How awful for you

Schnooze · 22/11/2022 21:03

There is plenty to do in Gran Canaria but it does involve throwing money at it.

Cas112 · 22/11/2022 21:07

Only boring people get bored 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

Mercedesbenz2022 · 22/11/2022 21:10

Go to mogan or palma or up into the mountains
it’s a relaxing vibe in Gran Canaria which is why I love it , go walking , Google some routes. Play in the rollers / waves at the beach , buy a mini body board and have some fun
What is it you want to do ?

MarmaladeFatkins · 22/11/2022 21:13

nope, not never! if we are abroad, we would do trips but tbh i am happy just resting, being warm in the sunshine, swimming in the sea and having someone else make all the food. I could do it for months and months and not be bored I think

Ragwort · 22/11/2022 21:17

I'd love it but my DH would hate that sort of holiday ... he's the type that goes hiking before breakfast, cycling all morning, sight/site seeing in the afternoon and maybe wind down with a swim and dinner out in the evening.
I can happily go from pool (I do swim!) to sun lounger with a book all day .. maybe a couple of cocktails, nice meal and an early dinner and bed.
Thats why we rarely holiday together Grin.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/11/2022 21:17

Did you not think to book somewhere where there was stuff that interests you - whether that’s water sports or archaeology or hiking or whatever?

Yes - unless you are absolutely exhausted and just need to lie down for a week - this sort of holiday sounds boring.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 22/11/2022 21:18

I'd be binging podcasts!

CrystalCoco · 22/11/2022 21:19

Definitely not my kind of holiday, and obviously not yours either.

Shoulda gone to Trailfinders 😅

Get thyself a private tour to 'somewhere more exotic' next time and you'll be knackered (in a good way) and definitely not bored!

gettingolderbutcooler · 22/11/2022 21:20

Yep. Me. Last 2 pool holidays.
Bored, Couldn't wait to get home.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 22/11/2022 21:21

I'm not surprised you're bored, you've gone on a boring holiday

feliciabirthgiver · 22/11/2022 21:22

There is loads to do, whale/dolphin watching, sunrise or sunset cruise, jeep/buggy tour, horse riding, camel riding, glass bottom submarine....check out Tripadvisor for some inspo.

olivehater · 22/11/2022 21:26

I bloody love a holiday by a pool with a book. Miss them. No chance at the moment with three active kids. I can only dream of the future.

Tinytigertail · 22/11/2022 21:27

Why don't you travel around a bit? Las Palmas is a nice city to walk around..Teror is a gorgeous town up in the mountains. You really don't have to lie around a pool all day.

wardrobesandtails · 22/11/2022 19:36

This is only my second time abroad.
The first was 20 years ago so kind of forgot what it was like

You forgot what it was like abroad?!!!

This is not "abroad" OP! It's your chosen holiday! Next time why don't you book somewhere that's less geared up for lounging by the pool - nothing wrong with it but it's obviously not your cup of tea. Go to an interesting city or region and do something different everyday - basically go and explore the world!

BarbaraofSeville · 22/11/2022 21:34

As it happens I was looking at Gran Canaria earlier as we've been to both Tenerife and Lanzarote a few times and fancy a change for some winter sun.

We'd probably go for a decent walk every day, swim in the sea and snorkel, have a nice lunch, laze around and read, get the bus to a few places, or hire a car, go up into the mountains, go the Las Palmas and an inland town or village or two, just drive around for a bit looking at the mountains, which look beautiful, maybe go mountain biking or try a watersport like paddleboarding. We're both qualified divers so could do that too. Seems very strange to me to do nothing except lie around the pool and go for dinner and complain that you are bored.
