Waitrose own brand bin liners, and they always break, and when you get them out it's super easy to poke a hole in them.

Really weird thing. My DD has asthma and can't take ibuprofen as it makes her chest tight, not a full on attack or anything, just a bit wheezy. One day, desperate for pain relief she bought Nurofen liquid capsules as it was all there was and had no wheezyness. Further experimentation and she can also take liquid ibuprofen. I'm absolutely not recommending it as a course of action to anyone else with asthma. But that's the reason we buy branded and I curse at the price. The rest of us get Tesco own version.

Make sure you see an allergist. I suddenly developed anaphylaxis with ibuprofen and now have an epipen. It's a CoX1 NSAID, I can take Celebrex which is Cox2, but only if really needed and keep my epipen near now.

I agree with most listed here but come on, not Rizzo the Rat! Have you not seen a Muppets Christmas Carole? For shame.

kits for making casts of your pregnancy bump

those melted bottle clocks / ornaments

candles shaped like naked women (the super voluptuous ones, if you’ve seen them you’ll know)

I’m a member of a fb group of people making a very specific craft item, you can make it from a kit and I despair at the number of people who rather than just taking the kit and making something for themselves for enjoyment, they make a huge batch of badly done items, with no artistic skill, post up a picture of their products on a stall laid out with no visual consistency etc and ask why nothing sells. Depresses me that it’s all going to landfill, and people can’t just enjoy something for the process rather than the need to sell it.

Those multipack cotton knickers from M and S - you don’t believe they can get thinner but by god they do!

balalake · 22/11/2022 06:59

DVDs and any other merchandise relating to Mrs Browns Boys or anything by Leigh Francis.

Mylakk · 22/11/2022 07:01

These ones @SuperGinger ?

These are my bin liners of choice - never had one break! Just noticed on your reviews you're not the only one who has had them break. The bin they are used for is 37L x 24W x 47H (42 litres max) and packet states they are good for up to 50 litres - maybe that's it, that my bin is a bit smaller?

Ok, I've missed the point 😁

Cake that has a sell by date of 3 months in the future. Proper cake, if any of it is left, would be stale within 2 or 3 days.

I made Xmas cake at school. We made it in September and we had to keep it until December when we made almond paste and then iced it.

Thanks, ibuprofen isn't recommended for asthmatics, it's not normally an allergy.

Blackberries, especially in blackberry season.

Agree with Yankie Candles, really expensive and not very nice. Has anyone mentioned Apple products? Yes, they're good, but not good enough to justify the price!

But are you actually amazed that people but Apple products? They might not be for you, but there is obviously a big appeal.

The Greggs clothing range in Primark. Why would anyone want to wear that?!

Fizbosshoes · 22/11/2022 07:17

I'm going dispute fresh soup and frozen roast potatoes. (Even though I don't buy either)

"It's so quick and easy to make your own". Except it is quicker and easier to get the ready made version.

Some of the soups would mean you had to get multiple ingredients (total cost = more than the tub/carton of soup) then cook/fry/blitz for maybe 20 min and have several items to wash up. Of course it's easier to get a tub or carton!

I've never bought frozen roast potatoes but I buy frozen Yorkshire puddings because it is easier, and I've never made Yorkshire puddings that don't stick to the tray! (The frozen ones dont)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/11/2022 07:20

Ladyof2022, were you not aware of such things before?

I used to wonder why on earth anyone bought such things - but that was before I had little Gdcs who were going to be staying at Christmas. So I bought a double Father Christmas duvet set (they share a sofa bed) which has been used maybe half a dozen times in 3 years.

They’ll be here overnight on 27th Dec, so out it will come again.🎅🏻
Should add that despite being pure cotton it was dirt cheap - I did however have to wash it twice to get the ‘crispy’ feel out of it!

Surroundedbyfools · 22/11/2022 07:28

pura baby wipes - smell like sewage
scented loo roll
scented sanitary towels
scented kitchen roll
tinned ham

Selfie sticks. I still can't believe that such a thing has been invented

They're really useful for group shots etc

FootfallFootball · 22/11/2022 07:48

You make a good point.

I used to buy Waitrose essential frozen roast potatoes. They were really good and cheap but they stopped selling them.

MingeofDeath · 22/11/2022 07:52

Agreed and add vinegar to complete the holy cleaning trinity.

They taste like they've been in the oven, and I hate microwave normal potatoes
Plus they're frozen so last well. Live alone and sometimes fancy a jacket potato, I buy the frozen ones when they're on offer

Yes, I find the frozen ones much nicer than any I've made myself!

There's a shop near me (think Home Bargains in terms of what they stock, but a local family-owned version) which has an entire aisle dedicated to fake flowers. I always wonder who's buying them in such quantities that it's worth dedicating a whole aisle to them.

Also I often wonder who buys all the lint rollers in IKEA. They seem to stock thousands of them. Surely you buy one and it lasts a decade?!

Clearly I have all the lint rollers given I have a drawer with about 10 in. I think they reproduce!

90% of people with asthma can take non-steroidal anti-inflammatories with no problem. They just need to be cautious when first trying them, in case they are one of the 10% who get wheezy on them.

FourChimneys · 22/11/2022 08:01

WeBuiltThisBuffeOn SausageRolls and By The Grace Chris De Burgh should never have written Lady in Red. It is so unlike many of his other, far better, songs. I agree that Borderline is great, it had a bit of a resurgence at the start of the Ukranian invasion.

Don't Pay The Ferryman is a classic, one of my all time favourites.

I cannot understand people buying:

Bright white or blue fairy lights
Scented candles
Novelty toilet paper
Christmas jumpers for adults
Grape hyacinths - £8 a pot at the garden centre when they grow like weeds everywhere. It's like buying dandelions
Dogs
Clothes with the shop name on the front. Why pay to be their free advertising?

DogInATent · 22/11/2022 08:05

Fresh peas in the supermarket ambient veg aisle.

butterpuffed · 22/11/2022 08:08

Bought some Essentials kiwis from Asda. Hard as nails when they arrived, still hard as nails when I gave up and chucked them out two weeks later .
