Joules clothing has gone bust!

I just heard on the radio. Don't know what others think but I used to love their brightly coloured pyjamas.

Oh this is sad I love their stuff for kids

Will they have a sale

Fundays12 · 14/11/2022 09:50

I am not surprised the clothes are dated and over priced. I have frequently looked for clothing for my 3 boys and found nothing they would either like or wear. Not all boys are into dinasours and trucks which is pretty much the extent of there boys clothes choices.and if they were they can be bought in Asda for 60 percent less.

Badger1970 · 14/11/2022 09:50

I've always bought from there, especially coats for myself and the grandkids. But I think they outsourced to cheaper manufacturers some time ago and I went to Seasalt instead. I'm happy to admit to being a 52 year old frump Grin

I'm happy to pay good money for clothes but not when they're massed produced in the far east and cost peanuts to make. If I want Primark quality, I'd go to Primark thanks.

sneezingpandamum · 14/11/2022 09:52

The kids clothing is very expensive really in todays economy

The womens clothing rarely changes year to year

PumpkinSpiceLatay · 14/11/2022 09:52

I’m actually gutted about this, I love Joules so much! Admittedly I buy a lot of stuff from outlets and Vinted because I can’t justify the full price.

BretonBlue · 14/11/2022 09:54

Redebs · 14/11/2022 09:49

That's a shame. I love their stuff for my grandchildren. The only brand to include labels encouraging people to hand on outgrown clothes and being good enough quality to do so.

They are not. I’ve seen those labels in Polarn o Pyret, Kite, Hatley…

ToastAndBeans · 14/11/2022 09:56

I wonder what store will be the next to go bust?

crosshatching · 14/11/2022 09:58

Judging by the comments on this thread it sounds as if selling the children's range as a separate company could be a possibility. So many people being positive about the children's clothes.

Sparklingbrook · 14/11/2022 09:48

Spiteful?
Have Joules’ feelings been hurt?

Come on, it's simply unnecessary to make nasty comments about people who wear Joules knowing that some of them are reading it. Would you say the same thing to a woman at work or at school pick up time who wears Joules? I think not. The main spiteful comment has been deleted now, I see.

This is the thing. Everything is going. Even my favourite restaurant closed recently. Sad times.

I think there are a few trolls here tbh.

I see trolls everywhere, but on this thread? Why? What comments make someone a troll to you?

ShepherdMoons · 14/11/2022 10:00

I really liked some of their tunics, always really well made and comfortable. I couldn't afford a lot of their clothes though as they were so expensive.

Really sad to see another brand name going :-(

ShepherdMoons · 14/11/2022 10:00

I worry Boden might be next.

LightUpTheWoods · 14/11/2022 10:01

They have been having massive discounts recently! I actually had something in my basket yesterday and it had sold out before I checked out! Maybe I had a lucky break. Agree that their stuff was very dated, or toddler clothes for adults.

I bet Next buy them or the name in some way.

astarsheis · 14/11/2022 10:01

Sad though it is, I am not surprised...all a bit frumpy and boring. Guess Seasalt and White stuff will follow at some point.

Damnautocorrect · 14/11/2022 10:01

Kids clothes great.
really flattering coats and nice shaped wellies. Women’s clothes too expensive and a bit big for me so I look frumpy.

its a shame, their delivery and customer service was dire. I had a couple of lost deliveries of sale stuff, I contacted them to say there’s no point if I can’t get the items, so they offered me an online voucher instead of a refund

MetellaInHortoEst · 14/11/2022 10:02

ShepherdMoons · 14/11/2022 10:00

I worry Boden might be next.

They do seem to be running constant codes.

I’d lose all self control in their closing down sale.

Daisymaybe60 · 14/11/2022 10:02

Oh bugger. This is just awful for all the staff - and yet another British company gone.

I like Joules, but then I’m nearly 70 so am probably allowed to? 🤔 None of the stuff I’ve bought has the much derided flowers or cutesy prints on, but I’ll admit I do like a stripe. Ime Joules has been much better quality than most and I’ll miss it.

ToastAndBeans · 14/11/2022 10:02

Yep think with the COL and government austerity there'll be many more closures as people cut back where they can.
Sad times, particularly for the staff affected.

Anon778833 · 14/11/2022 10:03

ShepherdMoons · 14/11/2022 10:00

I worry Boden might be next.

They do have a 30% off everything sale this week until Thursday. And I have noticed that they have a lot more in stock than usual. The children's clothes usually sell out quickly. However, as someone else said, Boden seems to be very popular in the US. Hopefully, the fact that they sell abroad will help.

Moomieboo · 14/11/2022 10:03

I love Joules because they think the average 13 year old might wear a coat with animals on it.... my 13 year old disabled boy only wears aged 10 but it means I can get clothes that suit him and his cheeky ways. Back to Boden then!

NCHammer2022 · 14/11/2022 10:04

I do like their girls’ clothes, mostly buy secondhand though as it’s pricey but holds up really well. I can’t say I’ve ever really seen anything I’d want to wear but this is sad news for all the staff, especially in the run up to Christmas.

byvirtue · 14/11/2022 10:09

I think Joules is ok (apart from the done to death Breton in every colour style), I have a lot of winter coats and jumpers from them over the years.

If they’ve gone into administration surely fat face and white stuff won’t be far behind their stuff is truly awful.

JohnStuartMill · 14/11/2022 10:10

Joules is one but many more are likely to close in the coming year.

Many high streets will turn into ghost towns.

AppleCrumbleRumble · 14/11/2022 10:10

Seasalt is absolutely not the same in style or quality as Joules.
