What one nice thing have you done this weekend for YOU?

The news is so depressing so I thought I’d start this thread: What have you done this weekend that made you feel happy, relaxed or just gave you much needed space. I went for a bike ride in the beautiful forest near to where I live and enjoyed the peace and quiet and beautiful autumnal leaves. It was bliss.
How about you?

Went to the library and got three books I hadn't intended to get. Then went for a lovely lunch with DH followed by a visit to a second hand bookshop where I bought another three books.

I’ve been signed off work with stress. After a week of frantically (but sneakily in case DH finds out) checking work emails and worrying that my students will fall behind I’ve decided that, f* it, I do actually need to destress by doing all the things on my never ending ToDo list. So this weekend, I have: bought new curtains for the living room; chosen a new paint colour for the hall; dug out a border that’s been a mess for years; sent an email calling in the warranty on my incredibly crap HiSense dishwasher and taken the DSGC to a local forest for some DIY primal scream therapy. Apologies to any local dog walkers who heard us!

I binge watched the sydicate on netflix and went for a lovely coffee with my husband in advance of our two year wedding anniversary! Lovely thread op x

@HumourReplacementTherapy

The old fig is outside the kitchen door on a sheltered east facing wall. The new one will go the other side of the door, east facing too.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 13/11/2022 21:14

Went up to Ally Pally yesterday in the glorious sunshine and sat outside the cafe by the lake, eating ice cream and watching families with young children enjoying the weather.

OhamIreally · 13/11/2022 21:17

Went to Tate Britain. Pimlico really empty and nice to have space and see lovely art all for the price of a tube fair.

lucysmam · 13/11/2022 21:18

@MintJulia tell me more about the fig trees please? Are they easy to care for?

I've just caught up on Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles, to todays chapter, and the read along thread on here.

I spent the morning catching up some sewing jobs in peace.

I bought myself a mirrored tray to spruce up my alcohol shelf in the hopes it doesn't continue to be a dumping ground.

been and done it. · 13/11/2022 21:36

Went to a garden centre with one of my daughters then on to Dunelm for a shop and a coffee and lemon meringue..

EwwSprouts · 13/11/2022 22:11

Had a lovely walk with a friend this morning followed by a cooked breakfast.

GalesThisMorning · 13/11/2022 22:21

This is a lovely thread. Well done everyone for carving out some time for yourself!

I went swimming twice this weekend, once in the river and once in the waterfall. Only in water for about 4-5 minutes but it restores and resets me.
Cooked and ate some nice food.
Planted bulbs
Saw a friend
Lots of walking in the nice weather, I was mainly surrounded by children talking incessantly so not sure if I can count that as something I did for me, but it got the step count up and I enjoyed it.
Read my book in bed.

It's the small things isn't it!

Loafbeginsat60 · 13/11/2022 22:28

I didn't do anything for me I don't think!

Worked 8-5 yesterday on our house site
9-4.30 today - mainly joinery and driving the dumper.

And did all the other usual stuff like cooking cleaning and washing afterwards. I'm shattered.

I made low carb pasta for us for dinner and it was a bloody chore! So I can't even say that was a nice thing.

Umm.... I had a strawberry cider and watched 20 mins of married at first sight while dh went to the shop yesterday so that might have to be it!

blackheartsgirl · 13/11/2022 22:56

I haven’t😭

I’ve spent most of my time driving between hospital and home, caring for my mum ,driving the kids to dance and football, looking after dgd, tidying up, and listening to friends on the phone with thier various woes and I’ve given everything and everyone every single piece of me the last few months and I’m so tired.

I haven’t had a shower/bath since Fri. And I won’t have a chance tomorrow either cos it starts againfrom 8am tomorrow.

I want to try and have a walk on my own somewhere this week but Goodness knows when. I will try though. And have that bath!

OnceRuralNowUrbanbliss · 13/11/2022 23:48

Went to the big city near us for a wonderful first date at a fancy restaurant then floated home on the train.

ilovebagpuss · 14/11/2022 03:02

Watched a film no one else wanted to by myself as I always let kids pick. They were fine and I enjoyed my film.
Had a swim in local wild swim spot with my friend and saw a kingfisher.

kingtamponthefurred · 14/11/2022 03:52

Read an entire (short) novel.

Chocolateismyfavourite · 14/11/2022 19:08

Went for a walk ( not allowed to run even though I'd love to)
Re arranged some of my sons bed room around Sunday morning ( have been wanting to do for a few weeks but having been feeling crappy because of chemo and Sunday morning felt well enough to do it, so I did )
Practiced some yoga

Boxofsockss · 14/11/2022 19:12

I managed to squeeze a bath in between doing a full house clean and then meal preps and batch cooking.
