Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather judgement that something else is more important.

From the Princess Diaries, of all places. But I really like it.

Perfectlystill · 12/11/2022 15:45

You only regret what you don't do

FleecyBlanketPerson · 12/11/2022 15:50

The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried - Stephen McCranie

My favourite one

Pedallleur · 12/11/2022 15:51

A gift that keeps on giving. Could be Covid or anything that someone keeps doing.

Like giving a dog a Rubriks cube. Generally people I see at work who think they can buy IT stuff and use it

Pedallleur · 12/11/2022 15:53

Cheap, light, reliable. Pick 2.

An engineering mantra

LaQuern · 12/11/2022 16:19

If you don't like it, alter it. If you can't alter it, put up with it.

DH Lawrence

If you're looking for sympathy, its in the dictionary between shit and syphillis

God should have made women lethal, when he made monsters of men

Whatabouterry · 12/11/2022 16:34

‘I love a broad margin to my life’. A quote by Thoreau. For me it’s a reminder that while I enjoy doing things and making plans, I do not like feeling rushed. It’s made me think more carefully about how I plan my time and make sure I schedule in ‘down time’ around other commitments.

LydiaGwilt · 12/11/2022 16:36

“Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.”
Quentin Crisp

Dust only gets so deep (Quentin Crisp I believe)

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent (Elenor Roosevelt)

Foolme once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

It's “There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.”

Clawdy · 12/11/2022 16:59

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.

LateMumma · 12/11/2022 17:05

I came across this recently and loved it.

You didn’t come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave on the ocean. You are not a stranger here

Nolongera · 12/11/2022 17:12

" When you are going through hell, you keep going".

Elderflower14 · 12/11/2022 17:16

"The Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With A Single Step."
One of my dearest friends had that put on a canvas for me and it hangs over my bed... ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

MigsandTiggs · 12/11/2022 17:39

@Elderflower14 , that quote is from an ancient Chinese proverb and it motivated me through many long and complex, uni assignments.

My favourite is "Choose your battles wisely" by C. Joybell C

"Life is too short to spend it on warring. Fight only the most, most, most important ones, let the rest go."

Paperdove87 · 12/11/2022 13:58

He who bends to himself a joy
Doth the winged life destroy
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise

William Blake

^ This quote is important. I would go as far as to say it is vital that we understand what it means and that having understood it, what we should do to live it. Without that, not only is humanity going to die, but much of life as we know it on this planet.

This quote is with us everyday in every action we do. It is there when we take a short car journey when we could have walked. It is there when we make a rash purchase we do not need. Or when we leave the light on. Whenever we try to bend nature around us. Which is pretty much all of us every single day.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 12/11/2022 22:31

Mines actually from ER when Carter says to Lucy...

when you do everything that you can, sometimes even more than you thought you could, you've got to walk away knowing you fought the good fight.

ever since I heard it, it’s stayed with me.

another one I like is

“ Don’t let the fear of striking out, stop you from playing the game’

Shannith · 12/11/2022 22:32

NannyGythaOgg · 12/11/2022 11:40

Other people's opinion of me is none of my business

That's mine too. Maybe we're heard it in the same place. Very freeing!

Zoopet · 12/11/2022 22:41

Everybody lies.
Great quote from House and so true.

MrsTimRiggins · 12/11/2022 22:43

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Not my circus, not my monkeys

MrsTimRiggins · 12/11/2022 22:43

honourable mention to ‘if you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough’

MyKitchenRules · 12/11/2022 22:53

My mum's was always
"Que sera sera. what ever will be will be. The futures not ours to see que sera sera" I know its a song but always stuck with me.
