The Crown - series 5 - who’s the actor speaking to Diana in first ep?

Decided to have a quick peek whilst getting ready this morning but this is driving me absolutely mad . I recognise the actor speaking to Diana in her first scene in first episode, but can’t place him at all, he’s the actor that says to her about the papers calling it a second honeymoon . I know him from somewhere but can’t get it !

Has the new series started?! Can’t wait 😄

Just put on Netflix twenty minutes ago! I’m only going to watch a bit this morning then sit down properly later on .

And the guy talking to Charles in the previous scene is Archie from Monarch of the Glen!

I agree tbh, the actress playing Diana is good - she’s got her voice - and Imelda Staunton portrays the queen pretty well … Andrew as well is pretty spot on . However I don’t know if it’s because this is so much closer to now so it’s harder to accept maybe, but I do feel the cast isn’t quite as good as the previous two .

It doesn’t quite have the same feeling to it as the previous seasons did for some reason .

That said it’s still fantastic filmography .

I think season 5 is going to be a very difficult watch. Poor Diana x

on a side note the house they used for Balmoral is the same one as Monarch if the Glen. Ardverikie house. Seems strange to have Archie McDonald in the crown lol

On ep 2 snd skipping thru much of the Al Fayed bits as I'm finding them boring.

The actress playing Diana is amazing. However,I don't like the rest of the new cast- queen, Duke and Charles. Should have stuck with the previous cast and used prosthetics.

I feel like Dominic West is just playing Dominic West; he isn’t even trying to portray Charles’ voice of mannerisms. I’m only on ep1 though, so I’ll give him a chance

So agree, I'm just not warming to any of them so far.

Elizabeth Debicki is excellent. I thought Dominic West did have some of Charles’s mannerisms and there are plenty of familiar faces.

Where have I seen the actress playing Lady's Romsey before?

Think she was in a programme with thingy Nesbitt about a vet having an affair and killing his wife. Sure I’ve seen her in other stuff, too.

I prefer the actors from previous season of The Crown. Dominic West doesn’t seem to fit Charles in my opinion. I quite like Imelda Staunton and will probably like Elizabeth Debicki as series progresses.

Natasha McElhone. She's been in a lot of films and tv series over the years. Sadly she lost her husband in the late 00s while she was pregnant.

I love Johnny Lee Miller but he's not good as John major either 😕
