I love the fact that in 20 minutes I can be out in the countryside on a walk up a mountain, or the seaside, or a cliff walk. But I'm 10 minutes walk from a decent band venue, theatre and cinema and good restaurants.

The non existent neighbours 😁

Bluebellsand · 07/11/2022 17:03

The view from dc room.

Hoolihan · 07/11/2022 17:04

The sea and the green hills.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/11/2022 17:04

The sense of community.

KnickerlessParsons · 07/11/2022 17:05

It's community spirit.

KnickerlessParsons · 07/11/2022 17:05

*Its😊

MsRinky · 07/11/2022 17:06

The trees and that I can walk/cycle everywhere within the city without using any main roads.

Kite22 · 07/11/2022 17:06

Like you, that we have everything conveniently close.
I'm in a big City so have everything you could want in terms of entertainment (theatres, gigs, big concert venues, museums, exhibitions, local teams to watch, and / or take part in, a HUGE choice of things you can take part in, from choirs to sports teams to different sorts of gyms to volunteering opportunities. Then life is relatively cheap due to competition between all the pubs, cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, nail bars I presume as there are a lot of them , shops, supermarkets, etc. Then we get big international events here. Yet the City itself is so green, and also so easy to travel to bigger National parks and so forth.
Plus, people here are friendly. Smile

That I’m 2 mins from the sea. I live in a beautiful valley in a rural location. All my neighbours are a field or two away. I can be in the city in 15mins and at work in 12 mins. Best of both worlds.

purpledagger · 07/11/2022 17:07

we are 1/2 hour from Central London in one direction and 1/2 hour away from the countryside in the other.

I'm very similar to you. I live in the North West. I have good motorway links to 4 cities within an hour if me.

1994girl · 07/11/2022 17:09

Nothing, apart from being near my family.

cptartapp · 07/11/2022 17:10

Fields to four sides. Sheep at the front, horses at the back. A few minutes to nearest village, twenty minutes into the city, half an hour to the coast and an hour to the Lakes, Liverpool, Manchester.

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/11/2022 17:10

There's a beautiful green flag winning park fifty metres from my front door, buses and trams go past on the main road, train is five minutes away, cracking chip shop two minutes up the road, likewise Jamaican takeaway the other direction. Neighbours are lovely, estate is quiet, I love it.

Christmaspumpkinseeds · 07/11/2022 17:11

No neighbours

BobbinThreadbare123 · 07/11/2022 17:11

It's the Lakes. It only takes an hour and a bit to get to big cities if I want that experience.

maranella · 07/11/2022 17:13

Lovely parks, woods and fields within an easy walk from my front door, yet five mins drive or 20 mins walk from lovely town centre. I feel like we have the best of both worlds.

1001Daffodils · 07/11/2022 17:15

My children can walk safely to school. Within 20 minutes walk from my front door I'm in the countryside, the city centre is only an hour walk or 5 minute train ride. The community is brilliant and there are loads of community run events all year through, plus our suburb is an older one so has an active high street with probably 90% occupation at the moment with all sorts of businesses.

The only thing I don't like is that it's not where my mother lives - I don't want to go back to where I grew up, it's not a nice place but my mother couldn't afford to relocate here so I'm stuck with 50 mile round trips. She's worth it, but I'd love to have her living close enough to pop in for a cuppa.

ilovebagpuss · 07/11/2022 17:16

Quiet street and nice green outlook.
Walks from the door into the hills
Local small town in walking distance with all amenities and a train ride away from a few big cities.

Finewine76 · 07/11/2022 17:16

Where do you live op?

Bluevelvetsofa · 07/11/2022 17:16

It’s near the sea, close to countryside, near to a good theatre, reasonable shops, reasonable public transport, a range of supermarkets easily accessible. Lots of green space around and excellent neighbours.

LunaLoveFood · 07/11/2022 17:18

Small village with amazing community but 30min from 2 cities.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 07/11/2022 17:19

Multiple parks, cinemas and swimming pools- need options with young children

poppym12 · 07/11/2022 17:22

I can see (and hear) the sea without getting out of bed.

Croque · 07/11/2022 17:22

I like the fact that there are plenty of transport options to get out. I absolutely hate it even though I know that many people would consider it beyond their wildest dreams and have said as much.
