I have a question about Lieutenant Columbo ...

... who I'm a big fan of. Just watching an episode and I'm nearly sure he said that his wife and kids were away. But but but - I thought he didn't have kids?!

This is clearly a very important question (and I clearly know how to have exciting Sundays) so please - any opinions?!

I wonder if Shera watches old episodes and, if so, whether they're a comfort to her or whether they make her sad.

I lost dh five years ago and, as yet, I find even looking at pictures of him sad (but I still do it!).

According to Wiki married with at least one kid. God I fancied him so much. He was my weird teenage crush along with that bartender in Cheers and Hawk Eye in MASH and Leroy in Fame.

Oh are you me?

yes to all those weird crushes!

I've always fancied quirky men.
That explains a lot about dh 😂

@steppemum Grin weirdly I've ended up with a very normal man in the Midlands with a very normal job and hobbies but I have managed to raise a dancing one, a bar tender and a police officer so somethings gone right. I've raised perfect partners for the next generation 😂

Absolutely loved Columbo.

Thanks for the reminder about Highway To Heaven - I've just found it on YouTube and am gonna binge watch it soon.

Gonksmum · 06/11/2022 23:22

Yes, love Columbo (but only the 70s ones).

Oh I've found my people! Columbo has always been my weird crush. So polite, clever and humble!

I loved Columbo but always felt I wanted to put his mac through the washing machine 😀

Can't get into Colombo.. Hate that you know who the killer is from the beginning!!

But on the plus side you can see the start, have a nap in the middle, wake up and you’ve not missed anything!

Guineapigwoes · 11/07/2023 22:52

I love the old ones for the fashion and interiors alone, really relaxing watch

Huge fan here
No he never had kids (it didn’t happen)
there are a few episodes where he mentions the wife and kids are away but thats usually to the murderer - he does have nieces and nephews though

His dogs name is Dog and his first name is Frank - his fave food is chilli and crackers but he loves a peanut butter and raisin sandwich. Oh he like to carry boiled eggs in shells in his trench coat
what episode did you watch OP? Ive seen them all loads 🤣

Peanut butter and raisin sandwiches?

To think I used to respect that man!

There's often something comedic about Columbo's food - in one episode he's really hungry but keeps getting interrupted every time he manages to get something to eat.

In another (imo) hilarious bit he gets told off by a very bossy waitress (a young Jamie Lee Curtis) for bringing a doughnut in to eat in a café but then proceeds to order an identical doughnut from her to eat in. It is much funnier than my description!

My favourites are A Stitch in Time with Leonard Nimoy as a murderous surgeon and the one where Columbo is trying to prove an architect has murdered someone and dumped him in the foundations of a massive building. Brilliant twist in that one!

I was just about to say it and ZombieKettle beat me. Captain Janeway was Mrs C.
