Ended up having quite a busy day. Went into town with DD13 - it was fairly sunny when we left so I was in sunglasses & flip flops but as we were parking it absolutely hammered it down so we popped to where I work instead & DD bought some craft bits to decorate her flares for a Harry Styles concert. I’m going to buy a pair too & she will decorate them. Dropped her back home & changed into my boots then went to Tescos for fuel, Asda for a couple of bits I missed in my shopping yesterday ( a beautiful forest green sequinned cami top may have jumped into my trolley!) & finally back to town to exchange a raincoat at Trespass. So happy with it as it has a perfectly fitting hood - so many coats have hoods that are massive on me & drive me mad! Home for a late lunch. DH had hoovered, cleaned out the rabbits & done the dishwasher. He had started to feel achy following his Covid & flu jabs which he had yesterday. DD & I popped over to see DM & DF which was nice as they’d been away. Now chilling with a glass of wine. Will be putting a piri piri chicken in the oven soon to have with French bread, red pepper couscous salad & coleslaw. If I’m not too tired, I’ll write to an old friend later. Recently rediscovered letter writing & I love it. Definitely asking Santa for some classy stationery!

Eating roast chicken and all the trimmings. Pumpkin cake for pudding. Busy day with lots of sorting and a tip run after recent move to new house. Children were forced to help, including taking leaves outside. They are still outraged. I feel child labour is good for them, it's certainly given them an appetite. Middle child has a school residential tomorrow. I am looking forward to sitting down this evening... I'm certainly not doing the washing up.

WomensLandArmy · 30/10/2022 19:10

Taking, not taking!

WomensLandArmy · 30/10/2022 19:11

FFS raking

I'm not even sure :)

I'm building my life round new puppy at the moment. She has no regard for clock changes and we were were up at 4.30am. Played with her, fed her, played some more - run about in garden then at 8am took her up to DD (17) and we left her and DS (10) while we went to Weatherspoons for breakfast then had a walk with dp then I came home and walked the puppy. Did some cleaning - lots of cleaning, washing - lots and lots of washing.

Helped DS with his homework - I'd noticed there was something and saved it until the weekend assuming there would only be 2 or 3 worksheets... there were 24 Shock it took ages. Then DD and DS took puppy for another walk (sensing a theme here?)

Went out to lunch with DP, DSS, DS. DD stayed in with her boyfriend and puppy and by the time we came home there were another half dozen teens in the sitting room - they took dog for long walk so I don't have to Grin

Various 16/17 year olds floating about house playing guitars and keyboard and singing. There appears to be piles of pizza and doritos on the go. One has brought her violin and have to say she's really really good. DS and I watched Worse Witch on Netflix and he finished off last bit of homework. Now he's on his tablet (well deserved screen time.) Puppy asleep next to me. DP gone out for a drink.

In a bit need to get up and prepare everything DS needs for school tomorrow...

Well you did ask!!

EndlessMagpies · 30/10/2022 19:16

I had decided to go to the walk-in centre for a covid jab this afternoon, and then forgot all about it.
This evening, everyone else is out and I'm at home by myself in the peace and quiet. All I need to do now is find some chocolate.

JamSandle · 30/10/2022 19:23

Just come back from a long walk with my partner and now playing video games. Will make some dinner after and then chuck on a horror film.

itsmellslikepopcarn · 30/10/2022 19:24

Incapable of having a lie in despite only going to bed at midnight so I was up at 6am cleaning the house. Followed by a tip run, food shop, moving furniture around, watching football, picked up DD from grandmas and home for tea, bath + getting ready for back to school tomorrow.

changer121 · 30/10/2022 19:51

We've had a lovely day

Dh had breakfast at dfil this morning then we had lunch at my db and dsil's for dn birthday.

Home to put garden furniture away for winter then Baileys hot chocolate on the sofa with Harry Potter and the dcat while dh watches sport upstairs and dd chills in her room .

We FaceTimed dd2 earlier too .
Might have some snacks soon too !

lucysmam · 30/10/2022 19:54

Dd2 is rinsing the pumpkin innards off the seeds she wants to roast tomorrow. It's time consuming 🤣

Dd1's printing a past maths gcse paper to practise.

And I'm patiently waiting for them both so we can light the pumpkins 🙄 I'm about sorted for work tomorrow & want to get my shower and sit down properly now!

Shouldershrugger · 30/10/2022 19:58

@cheeseisthebest No, thank you. I just had to get it out. But thank you x

NatWestPigFamily · 30/10/2022 20:04

I’m feeling sorry for myself as I have a bad cold and have felt rotten all day and my hot water bottle burst. DH, the kids and I played a few board games earlier and then we had sausages and mash which DH made.

The kids are now chilling in their rooms before bed and DH and I are having a glass of wine and watching the first series of Spooks.

Longwhiskers · 30/10/2022 20:11

I find these threads quite soothing for some reason! We had breakfast together (kids 4 and 8), carved a pumpkin, tried to make a spider which drops down when activated by a sensor but haven’t completed it yet, played ludo and went for a short walk in some woods (had hot chocolate half way round). Came back home for caramelised onion pasta with Bakewell tart and cream. Read, had a nap and DH took the kids to the beach to do some ‘wave jumping.’ I made them a picnic supper while they were in the shower and then we watched 30 mins of strictlyc they spoke to their grandmother and the younger one went to bed. I read 30 mins of The Witches to the eldest. We had a quite stressful day yesterday so nice to write down some good things that happpened.

Chickenpeppers · 30/10/2022 20:11

Had a lovely relaxing day, deep cleaned the living room and dining room which is my idea of relaxing. Kids are now in bed, having a cosy evening watching TV and I'll probably do a bit of Christmas planning, had to put the heating on as it's a bit cold, need to get everything ready for the morning as my oldest is back at nursery.

spiderlight · 30/10/2022 20:14

We've had a busy day - food shop, dog walk, excavating the loft to find the Halloween decorations, carving a massive pumpkin, and then teen DS arrived home starving with two friends I wasn't expecting, so I had to throw together an emergency bolognese to feed them. They are now downstairs watching the Formula 1, DH is in his study listening to the Beatles, and I'm hiding in the bedroom MNing but about to read my book for a bit.

JanesSadLittleLife · 30/10/2022 20:15

Woke up feeling oddly hormonal (stopped using HRT 3 months ago and have been fine until today). But we took the dog for a run on the beach this morning, stopped off at Tescos for dinner ingredients on the way back, then DH helped our neighbour with his car while I had a tidy round, put some washing on, peeled potatoes for roasties, had a shower and washed my hair.

Lazed around shopping on Amazon for stuff for our new puppy (arriving next week), DH came in wanting a haircut so I hacked him something vaguely presentable with the clippers. Other neighbour came over for her dog to have a little play with mine, then it was back to the sofa for a bit of crochet and idle surfing while DH prepped dinner.

Fabulous roast dinner, quick video call with our little granddaughter which was a lovely surprise, put washing away, cleared up the kitchen, now having an early night.

GreenLeavesRustling · 30/10/2022 20:20

DS1 and 2 both had football matches this morning- DH took them and I stayed home and cleaned the whole house, made lunches for tomorrow, sorted uniform and PE kits, including swimming kit for DS3. DS2 had a friend round for lunch and the afternoon - they played football and spent hours chatting in the hammock. I made pumpkin pie, helped by DS3. Then a big roast dinner. Just had a bath, DS1 now in the bath while I MN in bed. DS3 is getting in pjs and I am about to go and read him a story.
lovely ducks in a row day to wrap up half term. Back to work tomorrow!

NukaColaQuantum · 30/10/2022 20:28

Teen DDs are doing their homework in their bedrooms.

6YO DD is asleep next to me, in my bed. We’ve had a very busy day, I popped her on my bed after her bath (her bed is very, very low down, my back says NOPE and she was the level of sleepy that meant even putting her pyjama bottoms on was beyond her!), got her pyjamas on, she asked me for some water. By the time I got back, she was snoring. She looks adorable so I’m leaving her there Grin

I’m listening to a Podcast, knitting a hat for DD6 to match her new coat but need regular breaks as my fingers don’t seem to like it much today.

NukaColaQuantum · 30/10/2022 20:32

To add - we baked some peanut butter and chocolate chip muffins this morning, started some LEGO, went for a long walk (moved from a city to a rural slightly bigger than a village over summer and we’re still exploring), then went to a Halloween party at a friend this afternoon, where there was a lot of activities for them and much running around outside.

The clocks going back fucks everyone in this house up, it’s bonkers.

IsoIsobaby20 · 30/10/2022 20:33

DS2 had a rugby tournament that lasted about 4 hours. Picked up ds2 from the station who was returning from visiting his friends then all home for a beef roast that I have made throughout the day.

Fitted in 2 hours of dog walks and an hour of work and now sitting having a cup of tea and going to have a hot bath and an early night.

Yesterday I was doing football runs for both boys so today has been a bit more relaxing.

Loveatortie · 30/10/2022 20:38

Sitting in bed with a glass of wine and the cat having just got back from a fabulous girls weekend, shattered but happy 🍾🍾

supersop60 · 30/10/2022 20:38

I'm in bed in the spare room with Covid. DD 22 is pottering about. DS 18 is at his gf's house for her birthday, and DP is away working. It's very quiet.

mathanxiety · 30/10/2022 20:50

Sitting in the best chair watching American football (San Francisco vs LA) and blinking at the cat from time to time. I know the bathroom needs a good cleaning but I'll get around to it.

FrightfullyFreezy · 30/10/2022 20:56

One child in bed. One child in the shower. Husband is downstairs doing whatever he's doing. I'm on my bed feeling suitably relaxed listening to my spotify playlist.

totallyoutnumbered · 30/10/2022 21:01

Kids in bed an hour early as I didn't change the main clock and even the teenager hasn't noticed on his phone 🤣. Me and DP eating all snacks and watching a Bond Film

MyIgloo · 30/10/2022 21:12

It’s been a weird old day feels like we haven’t done much but have.

Went food shopping, made the kids some waffles, pottered around the garden doing some bits and pieces, cooked the kids roast gammon, took the dogs for a walk, made sure kid’s school stuff is ready for the morning, carved the pumpkins 🎃 ordered the kids main Christmas presents, I’ve also started organising what I’ve picked up during the year for them.

Dh and I are now sitting down snacking on some crisps before we head up to bed soon
