I could so eat a roast today but we a have a tradition that we don't eat roast dinner from the second Sunday in October until Christmas dinner.
It's so Christmas dinner feels more special 😃
I started this when I couldn't be arsed one weekend, when the children were little and 25 years later, I'm stuck with it 🙄😂

I do exactly the same from November! No Sunday dinner till Xmas dinner!

Home made fish pie with broccoli and leeks, then I've made a nice fruit salad and bought a brioche bread and butter pudding from Waitrose that looks delicious.

katscamel · 30/10/2022 10:58

Stir fry....was going to do it yesterday but it was a 'nibbly' day so wasn't hungry.

Whiterose23 · 30/10/2022 11:53

Roast chicken with roasted veg and mash followed by apple and raspberry crumble cake with custard.

UsernameTaken76 · 30/10/2022 12:49

Roast chicken & stuffing rolls with potato wedges, pigs in blankets and gravy on the side. Recovering from covid and not feeling up to a full roast yet but this is a close comfort

ChateauProvence · 30/10/2022 12:50

Lamb shanks, mash, ratatouille, cauliflower cheese and mixed veg - I can’t wait!

golddustwomen · 30/10/2022 12:53

Roast beef, roast potatoes, cauli cheese, Yorkshire puddings, sprouts, green beens and broccoli. I'm not cooking it which is even better. But suppose I will have to wash up Wine

Cottage pie with roasted vegetables

Nootella · 30/10/2022 13:17

Broccoli and Stilton soup ...from a tin...with some croutons aha

lurchermummy · 30/10/2022 13:30

We had a big cooked brunch with scrambled eggs, mushroom, spinach and sourdough. Tonight will be something like fishfinger sandwiches or pizza, I can never be bothered to cook on Sunday evenings. I have fantasies of a big roast dinner and a brisk walk but in reality it's a lot of work and nobody really wants it!

mrsbyers · 30/10/2022 13:32

Got some half ribs and pork belly strips ( all yellow sticker ) and half doing in dry rub and the strips are sat in a concoction with a bbq chinese theme , Will have them tonight with some vinegar slaw

Tuna pasta bake

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 30/10/2022 13:38

scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and grilled mushrooms for DH. Plus toast. Lots and lots of toast.

Scoundrella · 30/10/2022 09:08

pasta bake made using filled tortellini. Really easy to make. Just need to whip up a sauce (today will be tomato with hidden veg for the fussy ones) bit of grated cheese on top and some garlic bread & salad on the side.

ds1 has his best friend staying tonight so needed something relatively cheap, easy and big enough for 6 I know they’ll all eat no fuss

I love the sound of this. I watch a youtuber called Vicky Foulger and she did this recently. It had honestly never occurred to me to try a pasta bake with tortellini!! I think this is definitely in my future.

worraliberty · 30/10/2022 13:41

Roast beef, yorkshire pudding and all the other trimmings.

Cooked by my lovely DH who would probably pass out if I suggested we had no more roasts until Christmas! 😱

Decafflatteplease · 30/10/2022 13:50

All these meals sounds lovely.

We always try to have a bit more of a special dinner on a Sunday.

Tonight is toad in the hole, kale on the side (sweet corn for DC). Plus Some random roasted sweet potato that needs using up

Sticky toffee pudding and cream afterwards
