The 100, when the adults are volunteering to die to help save the rest of the ark.

Guardians of the galaxy 2, when the ravagers come out to give Yondu a proper send off.

Every time I see it. Every time I tear up a little

Good night Mr Tom, when he’s holding his baby sister locked in the cupboard.

Oh yes. I remember reading this as a child and felt quite traumatised immediately afterwards.

Royle Family when Nana thanks Barbara and when Denise goes into labour.

Love Actually when she gets the CD.

Friends when Phoebe has the triplets.

The Royal Family is so beautifully written isn’t it, you can go from chuckling to blubbing in 2 minutes

TheRossatron · 30/10/2022 10:53

Extras, when he's in the Big Brother house and he looks at the camera and apologises to Maggie with tears in his eyes

Mine isn’t a scene in a drama it’s the clip on Educating Yorkshire when the young lad with the stammer starts speaking perfectly while listening to music - and then when he speaks at the end of year assembly and all the other kids in the audience are crying. It’s just so uplifting.Smile

Also agree about Meryl coming in at the end of Mamma Mia Here We Go Again - for such a supposedly feel good film, I think it should have a warning that this scene could traumatise you.Grin

CatServant2020 · 30/10/2022 10:55

Showing my age here but the Starmaker scene in the TV series Fame.

In the story Mr Crandall played by Michael Croma is being forced out of the school and this is the schools tribute to him.

In real life Michael Croma was leaving the series as he was dying and this is a tribute to him by the cast so any emotions you see are for real.

PuppyMonkey · 30/10/2022 10:59

This is the Educating Yorkshire clip in case anyone hasn’t seen.

Apollo 13 when they're in the communication blackout period re-entering the earth's atmosphere and it goes past 4 minutes and all Tom Hanks' family are watching and waiting, fearing the worst then his voice comes over the radio 😭

Fresh prince - will asking his uncle Phil why his dad doesn't want him

@MikeOxlittle I came to say this one. Watched it the other day and sobbed!

FairyLightsNotJustForChristmas · 30/10/2022 11:03

Mine have all been said already!

“Railway Children - Daddy my Daddy”
I can’t even think about this without crying. It hits even harder now my dad has passed away. I’m welling up just writing this.

Also Jim sitting on the bathroom floor with Denise in The Royle Family, while she’s in labour. I have to leave the room during that scene. It is so painfully beautiful.

“Emma Thompson solo scene in the bedroom where she cries in Love Actually.
Gets me every time 😭”
Every Christmas. She acts it perfectly.

“The end of Blackadder Goes Forth when they go Over the Top - what an amazing bit of telly.”
The way it goes silent, then fades to an empty field. It’s haunting and devastating.

EndlessMagpies · 30/10/2022 11:03

The ending of the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth - gets me every time.

Xtraincome · 30/10/2022 11:05

Film/Theatre: Jean Val Jeans epilogue when he dies and is greeted by the Bishop.

Caesar dying at the end of the Andy Serkis Planet of the Apes movie

TV:
Sex and the City: When Smith comes back to see Samantha to prove that he loves her/is loved and deserves to be etc. I felt the message was lovely.
...And just Like that: Big death scene. He waited for her
Haunting of Hill House: Mr Dudley running with his wife to the house so they can be reunited with her daughter and stillborn baby. I AM CRYING TYPING IT!
The Wire: Snoop death scene- iconic AF! Michael dropping off his little brother at their Aunts house. WHERE THE FUCK IS WALLIS?!

Same. It’s the way she pats and flattens out the bedcovers. 😰

For me it's the way she's wiping her tears while being all happy mum for the DCs 😭

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE LAST EPISODE OF DOC MARTIN DO NOT READ THIS

The ending of the series of After Life when Lisa then Brandy then Tony fade away.....and this didn't happen but if Doc Martin had passed away on in the last episode on Wednesday I would have howled..

Me too, think I'd have gone all Sally Tishell!

At the end of Love Actually, all the real life greetings at Arrivals - I think about what Hugh Grand said at the beginning -

'Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.'

Now I'm bawling 😭 It's so true. The Arrivals Hall is always a happy place.

😭😭😭😭

The family scene at the end of 12 days of Christine, when she begins to realise what is happening. Big sobs every time!!!

This is the one that's ruined me every time.

Mistletoewench · 30/10/2022 11:29

The last scene in Gladiator when he is dying after his fight to the death, and he travels in his dreams back to his farmhouse and sees his dead wife and son. Walking through the fields of corn with the music playing. Gets me every time

Sideorderofchips · 30/10/2022 11:31

That scene in love actually as well. Mainly after my ex husbands affair

Also the beginning bit about Heathrow Airport in love actually. At the time it was released I used to pick ip the ex husband at the airport when he flew over and it was such a happy reunion

Off to cry now

FanniesFlaps · 30/10/2022 11:14

This. It was just so unexpected. Laughing along one second, bawling my eyes out the next.

Thing is, you kind of knew it was going to happen all along, because of the finales of the other three series.

Candleabra · 30/10/2022 11:42

When Frodo leaves for the grey havens. I don’t know why really, but it always makes me cry.

AnyFucker · 30/10/2022 11:48

The Office- Jim and Pam's wedding

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 30/10/2022 11:55

The film Stepmom.
This scene when the dying mum and Stepmom are having a conversation...

  • Isabel Kelly: Look down the road to her wedding. I'm in a room alone with her, fixing her veil, fluffing her dress, telling her no woman has ever looked so beautiful. And my fear is she'll be thinking, "I wish my mom was here”.
  • Jackie Harrison: And mine is... she won't.

Last 10mins of Six Feet Under finale, every time.
