The 100, when the adults are volunteering to die to help save the rest of the ark.

Guardians of the galaxy 2, when the ravagers come out to give Yondu a proper send off.

Every time I see it. Every time I tear up a little

OvaryActions I've just finished watching the Royle Family again for the umpteenth time and these scenes had me sobbing as well. They are such tender moments in amongst all the silliness and laughter.

Yes "tender moments" is the right description 🥺 and you don't necessarily expect it given the way those two characters normally interact. Those little things make that show feel more realistic and you can see bits of your own family in there...which is maybe why it gives you an emotional reaction.

For eg my dad could be a grumpy bastard sometimes but any time his loved one needed him he'd drop everything and do anything to help, he could be so soppy.

In The Time Traveller’s Wife at the end when he appears in the field and they didn’t know he was coming. The mum runs from the house but he starts to disappear and on the whole it’s very stressful viewing for a second because you don’t know if she’ll make it then then manage to hug and wahhhhhhh. Tears every time.

The scene in Sex and the City at Miranda's mother's funeral when she's walking down the aisle totally alone, her face working with grief and Carrie runs to hold her up and presses her hand on her heart. And Samantha mouthing 'I'm sorry' (finally) and then breaking down.

Definitely the end of Blackadder Goes Forth.

Pretty much all of After Life!

Weirdly it's an episode of 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps! Blush The one where Gaz has to choose between Janet and Donna and gets hit by a van on his way to tell them. Donna is by his bedside in hospital and when he wakes up he says 'it's always been you' and she does this sort of snotty sob, it undoes me every single time although I've no idea why! Lots of others, Royle Family ('am I a burden Barbara?'), This is England (various scenes) but the 2 pints one really gets to me for some reason.

X2Kids · 30/10/2022 10:33

Small Island - the ending where she gives her baby up. Had me in tears the first time, and had me in tears again the second time around.

This sam Smith and John Legend colab has me in tears every time

Another song, Adele's My Little love. I weep every bloody time!

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 30/10/2022 10:34

May be controversial now but Will Smith in The Persuit of Happyness (playing Chris Gardner) when he finally gets a break and an opportunity to provide for his child. It really resonates with me.

I also love Love Actually and that makes me cry as well as when Rue dies in Hunger Games.

Sex and the City...the scene where Big has stood Carrie up and they they pass in the car, then stop and Carrie says 'I knew you would do this' to him.

What really gets me is is Charlotte shouting 'no' when he tries to hold Carrie. The look on her face and her contained anger at him hurting her best friend gets me every time.

Nadiya winning the Bake Off, in floods of tears, and talking about how she would never doubt herself or put herself down ever again. And Mary Berry's voice cracking when she said how thrilled she was for her

Ah, I watched that episode the other day, i agree, really moving!

notacooldad · 30/10/2022 10:35

The family scene at the end of 12 days of Christine, when she begins to realise what is happening. Big sobs every time!!!

Delilahonabike · 30/10/2022 10:36

Oh yes and Derek, when his Dad comes back and they stop the car on the way back from the funeral. And all of Afterlife, although the scene I'm remembering most right now is one that made me laugh for days instead, last series when Tony sets the air horn off as Matt comes into his office GrinGrinGrin

when he runs through his childhood village and is finally reunited with his mum

The original Walt Disney's Dumbo, where the mother is locked up and puts her trunk out to Dumbo.
Ghost, when she sees Patrick Swayze in the shaft of light
Big, at the end when he's a boy walking away

ThE KFC foster family advert. I don’t even like KFC, but this is a surprisingly moving story in just a minute or so:

I was pregnant when this advert was released, cried my eyes out 😳

Royle Family when Nana thanks Barbara and when Denise goes into labour.

Love Actually when she gets the CD.

Friends when Phoebe has the triplets.

Pebblebeach15 · 30/10/2022 10:40

When Charlie is trapped underwater and drowns in Lost . His face as he presses his hand against the glass with the warning written in his palm .

curvymumma79 · 30/10/2022 10:41

When Jen dies in Dawsons Creek.

One of the first episodes of Gray's Anatomy where there are two characters who have been impaled on the same pole and the team are having to decide how to treat them. They decide that they can only save the man, because the woman has too much damage and the minute they remove the pole she'll be past saving. But whilst they're both still impaled, she seems absolutely fine and is laughing and joking and her boyfriend is on the way to the ER to see her. They can't wait for her boyfriend to arrive before starting to treat because it would jeopardize the man's chances.

There's something devastating about her joviality coupled with the absolute certainty of her death, so imminent that they can't even wait for her to say her goodbyes. I sob hard every time

Shmithecat2 · 30/10/2022 10:44

Most of the 'Miguel' episode of This Is Us. Especially when Billy Joel kicks in. Welling up just thinking about it tbh.

bookworm1982 · 30/10/2022 10:45

The scene from the Green Mile where they execute Micheal Clarke Duncan’s character (rip) and all the prison guards are crying. First time I watched I was actually wailing and the second time a few years later I actually had to turn it off.

Another film I sobbed like that was The Help, when a keeper learns from her mother what really happen to her maid. When Skeeter cries ‘you broke her heart!’ 😭😭😭 If you didn’t cry during that scene there’s something wrong with you! 😂

To be honest, it depends how I’m feeling too. Anyone cry a lot when they’re hungover? I remember watching The Iron Giant and sobbing after a heavy night out.

Emma Thompson solo scene in the bedroom where she cries in Love Actually.
Gets me every time 😭

stopitstopitnow · 30/10/2022 10:47

When George kills Mitchell in "Being Human"

"I'm doing this because I love you". 😰

caramac04 · 30/10/2022 08:51

Good night Mr Tom, when he’s holding his baby sister locked in the cupboard.

I've read that to many classes over the years & really have to steel myself in the lead up so that I can actually read it without sobbing. Every time with every class there has been absolute silence whilst they all processed the moment.

FayKnights · 30/10/2022 10:50

in the Royle Family when Denise goes into labour with baby David and is crying the bathroom, but then has a really lovely moment with Jim. Gets me every time!

Bonjovispjs · 30/10/2022 10:51

When the old couple are lying cuddling on the bed as the water comes rushing in in Titanic, that's always where I start crying and don't stop until it finishes 😭

Shmithecat2 · 30/10/2022 10:51

At the end of Love Actually, all the real life greetings at Arrivals - I think about what Hugh Grand said at the beginning -

'Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.'

Now I'm bawling 😭 It's so true. The Arrivals Hall is always a happy place.
