Has anyone actually seen an owl caught in one of these? Like ever? Or any other bird for that matter?

Elderflower14 · 28/10/2022 19:45

Oh wow - thanks for sharing. This is awful. I dont like any of the crazy waste generated by halloween but this is particularly awful

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 28/10/2022 19:49

It looks shit anyway! Nothing authentic about it and it ends up looking a mess

BobbyBobbyBobby · 28/10/2022 19:53

I keep seeing in FB about not leaving pumpkins out as Hedgehogs are eating them and becoming ill or dying. Not sure if it’s true or not.

tickticksnooze · 28/10/2022 19:56

Sorry are you citing Facebook as your source here?

whatamigoing2do · 28/10/2022 19:59

That's horrible and something I hadn't thought of. I decorate for Halloween but it isn't wasteful etc. I have the same decorations every year. My 20 year old Dd said this week that she can't remember a Halloween without some of the decs I have put up!

FictionalCharacter · 28/10/2022 20:00

Horrible. More plastic shite all over the place.

Yes, that's true unfortunately.

Those who are doubting the op, why? It seems very likely that this stuff is dangerous to wildlife.

Echobelly · 28/10/2022 20:16

We've had a 'no plastic/synthetic' rule for Halloween for a few years - only using cardboard that can be recycled, or else wood or things that can be reused generally.

@Ihatethenewlook I've seen an owl trapped in the foot ball goal netting on a primary school goal post.

Sparklingbrook · 28/10/2022 20:43

Never seen anyone use that stuff around here, it looks awful anyway.

Yeah it gives them diarrhoea. It’s handy for a constipated hog, but for one who’s trying to build its stores to hibernate, pumpkin is not good

Cosmosgrowinmygarden · 28/10/2022 20:48

The Woodland Trust ask you not to dump pumpkins because they make hedgehogs I’ll, it’s not just a Facebook rumour.

KvotheTheBloodless · 28/10/2022 20:52

Thanks for posting, OP - I have some of that, DS desperately wanted it, but I'll be sure it's confined to indoors now.

DorritLittle · 28/10/2022 20:54

Don't put glittery reindeer food out at Christmas either!

Elderflower14 · 28/10/2022 21:38

Terrible for wildlife. It looks shit, not at all spooky. Sick of all the plastic crap being sold in the shops at this time of year.

Dashel · 29/10/2022 07:52

This is a bit like all the lanterns and balloons that are released. Just more ways for wildlife to get hurt but human needs come first

KangarooKenny · 29/10/2022 07:54

I agree. Just oats if you have to do it. What’s wrong with carrots ?
