Why is Sunak entering no 10 without his family supporting him?

Genuine question or maybe they want to stay completely out of the limelight? Feel a tad sorry for him, he looks so excited:(

I always think the photos of the wives as summits are cringy. Which wife met which wife and who wore what. It’s really outdated.

Yes it is. Also really sexist as they don’t do it to the husbands

Completely agree with this. If Akshata Murthy doesn’t pay along with that I’ll have a lot of respect for her. The whole thing needs to be consigned to history.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:37

His family seemed to work very very hard to send their children to those schools. The children worked all the way through their A-levels at weekends in the pharmacy if the article I read this morning is correct

It makes no sense. The same people who have a lot to say about how bad society is to have so many struggling on low incomes, that there is no social mobility in uk, also hate it when someone from working class roots becomes wealthy. What do you want? People from ordinary backgrounds being more financially successful than their parents or grandparents? Or only as successful?

cantheydothisreally · 25/10/2022 20:39

How was his family working class?

A pharmacist and a GP!

Middle class at the very least

He said so when he was at Winchester

cantheydothisreally · 25/10/2022 20:40

I agree with social mobility but he wants to pull the ladder up for others, look st the Rwanda policy Angry

This is similar to the Middletons who supposedly were rags to riches but all three children attended some of the UKs most expensive schools & top unis.. They were very privileged with driven, ambitious parents from the word go. Like Rishi & Akshanta Sunak..

Akshata Murty ( not Sunak. Her surname is significant here, like Gates or Jobs) attended a school in Bangalore, India, which probably cost about £100 a year.

Her father Narayan Murthy is not your average billionaire at all. Neither is her mother Sudha Murthy.

Kite22 · 25/10/2022 20:41

Seems absolutely the right thing to me.

I always think it is odd when previous PMs have turned up to their job with wife / husband and family following along. I mean, why ? No-one else's spouse has to take them to work on their first day.

DonnaDonna0 · 25/10/2022 20:42

@WahineToa maybe look into some of her past businesses. Was Sunak not quoting saying his wife’s tax affairs were none of the general publics business?
If it’s all rubbish he didn’t come out and publicly defend her or deny it very loudly.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:43

@DonnaDonna0 no sorry aren’t you the one making the claim? You got any evidence of what you said? Or clarify what precisely you meant? You can’t say she owes or hasn’t paid unless that’s true.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:44

Were his grandparents illegal migrants?

cantheydothisreally · 25/10/2022 20:47

Not sure about his grandparents

Disturbed by him and his policies

Like his predecessor Truss and the
twit before her

So right wing and full of privilege they don't care about us plebs

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:47

It’s crazy people have no idea what they’re talking about but say it anyway!

Could you elaborate?

I am not a Sunak supporter. I would prefer literally anyone in Labour over a Tory of any colour or any race. But I do know about the Murthys, since I am from their hometown, neighbourhood and Akshata's school. Possibly more than you.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:51

@DonnaDonna0 so first you use a daily mirror article as your source and then don’t appear to have read it? She’s got shares like hundreds of other shareholders in firms that have gone bankrupt after covid, like hundreds of others. Thousands. They are not ‘her companies’ and she doesn’t owe that money. The companies owned by hundreds of shareholders do.

daisychain01 · 25/10/2022 20:51

I would have thought people would be fed up to the back teeth after Partygate, not speculating why there isn't some big shabang outside No 10.

LuckySantangelo35 · 25/10/2022 20:52

@Dinaprettyballerina

im sure his family are supporting him op, they are just not on camera

when was the last time you started a new job with all your family in tow??

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 20:52

@LobeliaBaggins you’re misunderstanding, I’m agreeing with you!

MarshaMelrose · 25/10/2022 20:52

A guy got accepted to go to Oxford, worked hard and got a 1st; then went to Stanton on the Fulbright program to get an MBA. And instead of people thinking that's admirable, people are pulling him down. I suspect not because he hasn't achieved anything worthwhile but because he is a Tory.
Personally, as an unambitious, lazy person, I admire ambition. That he then used his achievements to make money isn't blameworthy. Isnt it what most people do?

LobeliaBaggins · 25/10/2022 20:54

Ah ok, sorry @WahineToa but going back to the OP's question, I guess he is going to try to keep Akshata Murty away from the spotlight as I don't think she is very popular after her non-dom thing.

Ambition and success are not things to be admired in this country (unless you are a contestant on Love Island and the like of course)!
Even worse if you’re rich and went to private school.

DonnaDonna0 · 25/10/2022 21:01

@WahineToa
Significant investor I believe, however she was involved it didn’t look good for the wife of the chancellor at the time.

Rishi obviously thought so too that’s why he slapped a blind trust on his/her investments.

RiverSkater · 25/10/2022 21:25

Kids of the super too busy bidding on 80k earrings at auctions. 😆

His parents worked hard to give him the opportunities he had and he says they made many sacrifices. He worked hard in turn and repaid their faith in him. Yet he’s slagged off here for being too successful. Would you prefer him to have failed his exams, messed around with drugs and lived on the streets for a bit before becoming PM? How ridiculously jealous and small minded some people are.
