And will this finally rid of us Jacob Rees Mogg and his ilk?

😡

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2022 17:01

Shapps confirmed as business

Croque · 25/10/2022 17:01

Is that a gift to the grassroots ?

titchy · 25/10/2022 17:02

Some suggestions on twitter that penny is going to be punished for dragging this out to the last min,

Anyone imagine her sitting outside Rishi's office as one by one everyone else goes in then comes out declaring what they've got. And her slow realisation that there's nothing left at the end!

I reckon

Fushiadreams · 25/10/2022 17:02

If they announce someone as leader of house then he’s dumped penny…he couldn’t ,,wouldn’t could he…?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 25/10/2022 17:02

Braverman is a political mistake

she’s hugely unpopular - her Rwanda quote will be replayed for ever. Even my daily Mail devotee DF thought it was too much

it makes him look cruel & heartless not tough

stupid

TicketToRideFan · 25/10/2022 17:03

Suella Braverman is back (heaven help us)

I reckon

It is misplaced as she's a 'forriner', they don't trust those.

ShakeYourFeathers · 25/10/2022 17:03

He's got levelling up thank goodness. Phew

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2022 17:03

Sunak had a leadership campaign pledge to create dept for energy. Has kept energy as part of business.

Thats going back on his own manifesto...

I agree. But she's an easy and quick bin-off relatively early on if needs be.

To sign on Grin

Oh very good Grin

FixundFoxi · 25/10/2022 17:06

Agree. Familiar faces to superficially steady the ship but doubt any policies other than austerity and cracking on with brexshit. Guy Hands (Tory donor and long term tory/leave supporter) is extremely pessimistic about the UK's economic future unless there is renegociation with the EU and an admittance that lies were told about Brexit. He talks about IMF rescue and collapse of the party unless this is done.

Fushiadreams · 25/10/2022 17:06

I was thinking that, he can give Braverman it now and take her out in six months,…

and not sure it’s going back on the energy thing, he can still do it, just it isn’t something you do immediately it takes some planning and resourcing

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2022 17:07

This Cabinet is already a more right wing one than Truss! She was ultra economic libertarian. We are back into anti human rights and immigration with this lot.

Its a manifesto commitment cabinet....

He should.

He can't trust her now. And she's incompetent, behind the gloss. He should dismiss her.

Yeh but they’ll have a tough choice to start with, they’ll be pissed off with Sunak, Braverman will do the tough stance. It’s a bid to get to the right vote back.

Croque · 25/10/2022 17:09

It was her mistake. She was never, ever going to win. She should have held back if she wanted a job going forward. She couldn't help herself.

FuckabethFuckor · 25/10/2022 17:09

There are a lot of very fractious, and largely irreconcilable, wings of the Tory party who are demanding placation right fucking now and I think a lot of these appointments are just plate-spinning to keep various factions happy. If some of this lot are still in post in the spring I'll be surprised.

He's also in the relatively unusual position of having three recent ex-PMs sitting behind him in the Commons, which I would imagine adds some pressure.

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2022 17:10

David TC Davies in now. Likely to be Welsh. (previously was Welsh I believe)

They don't believe it though (for much the same reason). They have already seen it from Priti and Suella. It is an impossible job to perform effectively.

Although Johnson is hardly ever there and I’m not sure how long Truss will stay

AutumnCrow · 25/10/2022 17:13

We’ll see. It may be enough to get red wall interested again. Brexit was mostly about immigration after all.

Politically he needs something for them if he wants a chance.

But it’s all changeable and hard to predict.
