How much do you pay for broadband ?

We currently pay close to £100pm for broad band/landline/BT Sport which I think is ridiculous.
No one calls the landline, I don’t watch football, the only good thing is the reliability of the internet.
How much cheaper could I get a good quality, reliable broadband ?

Just switched to Sky broadband only £25 per month for eighteen months and £100 giftcard for switching. Was with BT £42 per month for the same broadband plus a phone line that we have never used. Don't pay for any TV as rarely watch it.

£30/month for gigabit BB

Blimey! I have two separate broadband services for about £49 a month.

We don't have fibre where I live. (They have it three houses further up the street, but that's a whole other story.) So I have a wireless broadband service that is reasonably fast but seems to be out of action at least one day a month, and another phone-line broadband that is reliable but slow (to use as emergency back-up if I'm working at home and the faster broadband is out of action). Neither is with a provider you're likely to have heard of, as I object to paying for big providers' advertising.

I have a landline with the phone-line broadband but I leave the phone unplugged as I would otherwise get 10-20 scam calls a day. So, effectively, I pay for a landline but can't use it.

I don't subscribe to television services because I would waste too much time watching sport. That can wait until I'm retired (if I can ever afford to retire).

We had that until we bought a phone with Call Guardian. Zero scam calls since.

@JustOrderADoor I don't watch TV, not in a pretentious way, in a I've got the attention span of a gold fish and the aerial fell of the roof one day, way. It's only me and a 3 year old, her dad shares his Disney+ with us if she wants it, or dippy blippy YouTube stuff.

@Frogsanddogs oh ok thank you,

I once had my carpets professionally cleaned. They unplugged the TV & sky box, it was 3 months before I noticed & that was only because there was a rugby game I wanted to watch!🤣🤣

I don't watch a lot of TV, that's why I find the recording options important, so that when I do I can watch something I really want to!

My attention span is shit too, so I find the rewind option very useful 🤣🤣

We have Netflix, prime, Disney plus, apple tv, all four and the ITV one. We stOpped paying for a tv licence about 3 years ago

@ChimChimeny thank you. I think it's the recording function I'd miss & I do watch the news/politics a lot.

That went well!

I was saying you can watch sky news like on their app.

I get the recording thing, my mum records everything & watches it at her leisure

somewhereovertherain · 25/10/2022 20:01

£30 for gigabit broadband.

ans £6.99 for Netflix. Everything else freeview and smart tv apps.

£100 is fucking nuts.

mindutopia · 25/10/2022 20:02

I think we pay £21.99 with Plusnet. We don’t have a landline but I imagine that must include line rental. We have freeview, though we almost never watch actual tv.
