How much do you pay for broadband ?

We currently pay close to £100pm for broad band/landline/BT Sport which I think is ridiculous.
No one calls the landline, I don’t watch football, the only good thing is the reliability of the internet.
How much cheaper could I get a good quality, reliable broadband ?

Just think, you could get that for about £50 a month if you want to keep sport, or £25 if not. So if you've been out of contract for say 2 years, you've lost somewhere between £1200-£1800.

That should give him/you the motivation to get it sorted!

@JustOrderADoor Now TV, but just broadband not TV package. Not sure about what speed as I'm walking to work but can have a look later. Never had anything seem slow or ever cut out on me though. My ex had the super fast stuff and honestly can't tell the difference with what I use it for.

@Frogsanddogs

thanks for your reply. What do you do for TV? It would be interesting to know what speed, but please don't go to too much trouble!

weathervane1 · 24/10/2022 09:14

£18 with NowTV super fast fibre which includes broadband and landline, line rental and unlimited anytime calls.

GenjiMain · 24/10/2022 09:15

About £60 a month for 1Gbps fibre. Was previously satisfied with our 350mbps plan but after having been in Singapore for 2 years for work attachment where 1Gbps was the minimum everyone had, 350mbps felt incredibly sluggish in comparison so we bit the bullet, made the switch, and it's been great!

RoseMartha · 24/10/2022 09:17

About £40 a month with bt which does include limited minutes on the landline.

Justlovedogs · 24/10/2022 09:23

Go to one of the comparison sites (think I used uswitch). Put in a few details incl postcode and it'll give you options that are available for your address. However, I've just renewed with Vodafone, £33 month, unlimited broadband with landline and all landline & mobile calls included. I could have saved £8 month if I'd dropped the landline but I still like it for some calls.

CableTidy · 24/10/2022 09:28

£33 full fibre including phone which never gets used haha

Puyo · 24/10/2022 09:30

£50 for 4g unlimited from ee. Had normal wired for a bit but live in the sticks and it was painfully slow and not usable for anything really so switched to a 4g one.

Frogsanddogs · 24/10/2022 09:32

@JustOrderADoor I don't watch TV, not in a pretentious way, in a I've got the attention span of a gold fish and the aerial fell of the roof one day, way. It's only me and a 3 year old, her dad shares his Disney+ with us if she wants it, or dippy blippy YouTube stuff.

BamBamBilla · 24/10/2022 09:44

£89pm for Starlink.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/10/2022 09:54

£28.37 Talk talk Faster Fibre broadband

Donepaying · 24/10/2022 09:55

£27 with EE

snowflake29 · 24/10/2022 09:56

£27.99 for broadband and landline with BT. Not the most super fast package but fine for Netflix/browsing/YouTube etc

Dougieowner · 24/10/2022 10:02

We have just had a thread about this very subject!

£29.99/month for FF900 with landline (Inc free minutes) & BT TV (Inc Sport).

We moved earlier this year and have a "special" package so no idea what it will cost when it ends later next year.
Assuming it will be more than £29.99 we will drop the speed (900mb is waayyy over the top for our needs, even WFH), probably the landline and definitely the BT Sport (no-one has any interest in it).

WitchyMother · 24/10/2022 10:06

About £62 but it's a bundle with phone and a sim. The internet is superfast fibre super duper fancy stuff. Loads of streaming here with no problems.

SavingsThreads · 24/10/2022 10:07

I pay £32pm for Virgin 200 fibre, and their tv package. Rang up to negotiate and got it halved from £70pm

Shitfather · 24/10/2022 10:52

£25 with Hyperoptic. BB only as we don’t use landline or watch much TV. I will be downgrading to £18 next month.

NeedSleepNow · 24/10/2022 10:55

£33 a month with virgin for 200mb speed broadband, landline with free evening & weekend calls (although I don't ever use it) and TV (I don't have all the channels, just the basic ones)

JadeSeahorse · 24/10/2022 11:37

£35.99 per month with OVO. (Was previously SSE)

This covers fast fibre BB -67bpm- landline and anytime calls to landlines and mobiles.

Very happy with it.

bananaboats · 24/10/2022 11:50

£23.99 for fibre with plusnet. Don't have a landline.

automne · 24/10/2022 12:13

£54.00 broadband only.

Im thinking that's expensive now after reading here 🤔

automne · 24/10/2022 12:14

That's with Virgin.

ChimChimeny · 24/10/2022 12:20

JustOrderADoor · 24/10/2022 08:58

@ChimChimeny what do you use for TV?

im with Virgin, but only because I like their Tivo box, I like the recording function & it's easy to use.

We have Netflix, prime, Disney plus, apple tv, all four and the ITV one. We stOpped paying for a tv licence about 3 years ago
