Least favourite household task...

Mine has got to be anything food related - particularly meal planning, shopping and cooking. I despise it! I'm a good cook but my god do I hate it. Unfortunately DH also hates it as well and I find splitting it very difficult - if DH plans I have no idea what recipe he's using (I have all my recipes in my head) and if I plan, I also have to shop and then DH has no idea how to cook it unless I write it down or use a recipe book to plan and shop, which takes even longer!

All other jobs I'm fairly happy to do and get a sense of satisfaction from. But not the food shopping 🙄

What is yours and why? And any tips for making it more bearable?

My DD has an ED, so much food prep, day in, day out.

Gosh, in a strong field it’s hard to choose a winner, but I think it is putting the food shopping away, because I’ve already bought the bloody food and then dragged it into the house…and then I usually have to clean out manky things from the fridge before I can fit it in.

I would say ironing but I have a kick arse clothes steamer now and I don’t hate that anywhere near as much.

Changing the beds. Aaaaaah. Hate it.

Cleaning the shower or tub.

My favourite chore is laundry.

Unpacking the shopping! If I could I would pay someone to do it.

Emptying the dishwasher and putting laundry away. Also meal prep, food shopping etc. I hate trying to figure out what other people will ear every day. I would live on toast and butter if I had the choice. In fact I do as by the time I've cooked I am not interested in what I've made.

The children's bedrooms.

You can either do it yourself then see you hardwork destroyed in seconds or spend ages making them do it or helping them.. again to see it destroyed in the blink of an eye.

if I have to choose 1 thing it would be home-making. Not so much a daily grind, but a daily reminder, but making rooms look nice and not like we’ve just moved in - I have zero imagination or enthusiasm for it. I wish someone could come and make a list (with links) of each specific thing I should buy. Not “pictures” or “cushions” - THIS painting/print/wall arty thing/ THESE cushions etc.

Putting a big food shop away. If it was just me I would leave it all in bags under the kitchen table and use it from there.

We use silver cutlery (family heirloom stuff which we use rather than store away) and DH's weekly polishing session doesn't appeal to me at all. He seems to enjoy it though.

Putting clean washing away. I loathe it!

This!! We recently changed to a very easy wipe clean induction as cleaning around the rings got too much of an arse ache!

Cooking!!! 😠 😠 😠

For anyone who hates dusting or cleaning in general try Purdy and Figg cleaner. It's a joy to use and makes my house smell like a spa. I actually enjoy cleaning now.

Weeding and garden maintenance. I like growing vegetables but having to go out repeatedly to weed or chop things back...then you look out the next day and it's like you were never there. Hate it.
Also ironing. Mostly because I'm no good at it. Thankfully DH is ex military so most of the time he does it.

I love anything related to food. I even enjoy laundry. The one job I really hate is hoovering! Awful. We have a 3 storey house and lots of stairs.

@alwayscheery I like to listen to itsblitzzz or JadeyWadey180 on YouTube. But asmr is very personal so it worth having a look at lots of different people to find one you enjoy.
