Mine has got to be anything food related - particularly meal planning, shopping and cooking. I despise it! I'm a good cook but my god do I hate it. Unfortunately DH also hates it as well and I find splitting it very difficult - if DH plans I have no idea what recipe he's using (I have all my recipes in my head) and if I plan, I also have to shop and then DH has no idea how to cook it unless I write it down or use a recipe book to plan and shop, which takes even longer!

All other jobs I'm fairly happy to do and get a sense of satisfaction from. But not the food shopping 🙄

What is yours and why? And any tips for making it more bearable?

Scraping dirty plates, emptying the food recycling bin, clearing up cat/fox poo ( from my London garden). Emptying containers of leftovers that no one ate and is now going off. Makes me cross as well as slightly nauseous!

IntentionalError · 23/10/2022 22:19

Ironing. Which is why I don’t do it.

Aghxmas · 23/10/2022 22:20

Oh god, all of it. And then it all needs doing a agin. How on Earth do people keep up the momentum, clean houses?

Anything to do with food ... thinking about it, buying it, putting it away, getting it out again, cooking it. I would happily live on cereal.

This x1000

Ragwort · 23/10/2022 22:20

Hate vacuuming, worse chore ever (but I rarely clean windows and have my oven professionally cleaned ... and never, ever garden so I don't count those).

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 23/10/2022 22:21

Unloading the dishwasher, and bringing in clothes off the line... I think it’s because you then have to put it all away. Hate it

mynewname25 · 23/10/2022 22:23

cleaning the shower and the oven.

Quite enjoy hoovering and cleaning other than that.

Lookingformymarbles · 23/10/2022 22:24

Oh definitely meal planning, shopping for & the cooking of meals, it's such a chore and I'm sick of it.

Dh & ds will both cook but I generally need to plan & purchase; I'd live on toast & marmite or baked potatoes!

I'm a decent cook, love making cakes etc & also enjoy planning & cooking for visitors but everyday food, am so over it

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 23/10/2022 22:25

Hoovering as I get too hot and sweaty. I actually love mopping - gives me a weird thrill 😂 - but I can’t do that unless I’ve hoovered so that’s annoying. I’ve got through 2 robot hoovers which have both died on me, but this has reminded me I should get a new one!

schnubbins · 23/10/2022 22:29

Ironing, I hate it with a passion but like clothes made from natural fibres and wear more blouses than t shirts plus lots of dresses in the summer so everything has to be ironed .Add to that shirts etc its never-ending!

Putting clean bedding back on beds. Can't bear it. Makes me cringe. Although I have no problem stripping dirty linen from beds.

PriamFarrl · 23/10/2022 22:37

For some reason the job a really hate is putting away my gym gear. No other clothes annoy me. Just that.

familyissues12345 · 23/10/2022 22:40

Emptying the dishwasher, bloody hate it. No idea why, just can't stand it.

As long as DH is working from home he always does it first thing, so it's one bonus Grin

TheChosenTwo · 23/10/2022 22:40

Cleaning the blinds. I don’t know why I hate it so much, they’re the wooden shutters so actually they’re really easy to clean. But I just despise the whole process. And there are so bloody many of them in the house 😂
also, emptying out the fridge. The veg drawers are my nemesis.
I have a cleaner (she does the blinds during the deep cleans when we are on holiday but it does need doing in between times too), get someone in to clean the oven, a window cleaner, the bin cleaning people and the cleaner takes in any ironing that dh wants doing. I outsource as much as possible and it’s still not enough!

Izzy24 · 23/10/2022 22:44

Cleaning the oven.

Which is why I’ve never done it. My theory is that it will just burn off eventually.

Works for me.

MadelineUsher · 23/10/2022 22:53

The only bit I like is hanging the laundry on a sunny day and getting it dry. I don't mind shopping and cooking, but then there are the dishes to wash and then put away. The rest is such unbelievable endless drudgery, and I am always amazed I have to do it all again.

FusionChefGeoff · 23/10/2022 23:00

OP - can't you just do 3 days each?? He plans and cooks for his days and you do yours?

Serena1977 · 23/10/2022 23:45

Everything but especially ironing.

ofwarren · 23/10/2022 23:46

Washing the dishes. It's a never ending task and we don't have a dishwasher, or the space for one.

bedtimestories · 24/10/2022 00:14

@Badnewsoracle you need the whisk app. You can create meal plans, add links to recipes, create your own recipes, it even does your shopping list!

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 24/10/2022 00:38

Putting ironing away.
Making lunchboxes

Ill happily buy the food, cook food etc. Hate making lunchboxes.

Ill happily iron but packing away i hate.

I LOVE doing laundry.

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 24/10/2022 00:39

Oh And clean the oven. I pay a professional £43 to do it. Every 3 or 4 months Worth every penny

OnlyTheBravest · 24/10/2022 01:28

Dusting and cleaning the toilet. Both equally as bad as the other.
