Tom Hanks.

shortkiwi sorry to disappoint you. Only telling the truth I’m afraid. I thought he had a very dark, menacing vibe about him. He’s anything but a family man.

and webuiltthisbuffetonsausagerolls exactly. Emoting all over the place about rescuing the children & knowing exactly what was happening to some children. Total hypocrisy.

i had the pleasure of looking after Liam Gallagher when he stayed in the hotel I worked in. He was utterly delightful to the staff.

I've met Liam quite a few times. He's funny, friendly and extremely personable, the polar opposite of what people expect him to be.

Absolutely. We had quite a few "slebs", most of whom really you didn't notice.
liam, OTOH, ABSOLUTELY OOZED charisma and "I'm famous" from every pore, even though making no attempt whatever to be recognised in the very fuddy-duddy old school hotel I worked in.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 20/10/2022 21:38

Super vet

I’ve never heard a good word said about him by other vets.

And it doesn’t surprise me about Romesh Ranganathan. I remember a gig where he made jokes about his kids being abducted by paedophiles - he was so unfunny I was desperate to go home at the interval.

Hyvsvaar · 20/10/2022 21:40

Brett Anderson from Suede, he’s so charming, would be put out if he was a plonker

There's definitely 'something' about him. You can't not notice him, even in a room of men dressed/styled similarly, he stands out. Very generous and absolutely no hint at all of "Do you know who l am".
Can't say the same for his brother, unfortunately. Liam was the same every time I met him. With Noel, you never knew what you were going to get.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 20/10/2022 21:49

@BrightYellowDaffodil I’ve heard that, I wonder what his own colleagues think of him.

wondered what makes him a devil. Intrigued

TheHonourableHonoriaGlossop · 20/10/2022 21:07

@SilentHedges i always imagine Julie Waters would be brilliant fun

OH spent an hour with Julie Walters in her set trailer. She was exactly as you'd expect her to be, while being in awe of what a talented award winning actress she is, she is also stunningly normal i.e. discussing doing her ironing etc. Friendly, interesting, funny and asks questions about you.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/10/2022 21:50

I've never met Warwick Davis, so I've no idea what his 'normal' is - but I think he's been ill for some time. Seeing him on Tenable (and hearing his voice), and comparing earlier series with later ones, this is self-evident. I don't know if this has any bearing on any changes in his attitude or behaviour at all, but it is maybe a possibility.

That said, I really like him on Tenable, but his bragging is getting very wearing now. At first, it was done in a slightly cheeky, apologetic way, but now, it's just blatant name-dropping and going on about how rich he is without even any jokes attached to it.

TheHonourableHonoriaGlossop · 20/10/2022 21:51

@SilentHedges i think my fantasy dinner party would include Julie and Mary Berry.

Whodoigoto · 20/10/2022 21:53

What’s so bad about the super vet?? I hear this all the time

TeddyTed · 20/10/2022 21:54

Ooh I’ve thought of another one - Simon Mayo

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/10/2022 22:01

There was a filler feature on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 show the other day, about the temporary suspension of cards being sent by the monarch to people on their 100th birthdays, whilst KC gets to grips with taking over the reins.

It was subtly pointed out that folk who are aged 100 might not necessarily have that long left to be able to wait for their card to come through in the next few months, so they took it upon themselves to invite said campaigner (also known as a campaigner for the elderly) to act in loco regis by conveying congratulations 'on behalf of' the King - live on the radio and also offering to phone the centenarians privately, to the obvious underwhelming bemusement of their families.

I couldn't help thinking about the various associations that both she and the King may (or may not) have had with the man we were mentioning earlier.

Wauden · 20/10/2022 22:08

Mary Berry

Vegay · 20/10/2022 22:11

Leona Lewis. I bet she's just a most humble and down to earth person.

FlyingPandas · 20/10/2022 22:13

I am another who would be devastated if anything dodgy was to be disclosed about John Craven or Tony Hart. Also Johnny Ball or Terry Wogan. All four of these had a huge impact on my 1970s childhood in their different ways (Newsround, Take Hart, Think of a Number to name just a few). I cried genuine tears when Terry Wogan died.

I'd also be sad to hear that comedians such as Aisling Bea or Sara Pascoe were horrible. They always come across as being so lovely. I have a bit of a girl crush on Aisling.

Noelfieldingsjumpers · 20/10/2022 22:30

Brian May
Louis Theroux

FanGurlll · 20/10/2022 22:38

@Devpatelslaughingeyes you can relax, I can confirm that Dev Patel is lovely!

Who was this please? I tried to skip through parts of the show to find it but it's 2 hours long and I can't find the correct part.

I know what you mean, it's not always easy to find the right part; but I guess That's Life.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I got your nudge but it's such a bizarre premise that I'm going to have to listen to the segment now.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/10/2022 23:04

I got your nudge

We x-posted; but it just occurred to me afterwards that you could very easily be far younger than me and not have the faintest idea about the programme reference!!

That's an excellent point but no, unfortunately I'm old enough to remember TL. Blush

Phew! Thank you. I knew he would be. He always comes across as being so lovely and open. Nice to have it confirmed 😍
