Who always comes up on the celebrities that are vile in real life www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/james-corden-balthazar-restaurant-ban poor staff!

I even looked it up, why would they do that???

It is a bit more like standing up for your 6yo when their debut performance as an angel in the school Nativity was criticised rather than your rich 40yo son in his successful TV career!

I even looked it up, why would they do that??? Simon Mayo reading the letter!

You couldn’t make that up! I had to hear it to believe it too 😂

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 19/10/2022 12:43

The letter is funny. And it's not as though it was at the start of his career when they might have been feeling protective of him having found his first taste of fame. That film was only three years or so ago Grin

J0yful · 19/10/2022 13:16

I didnt know mumsnet saw this in him but my dd said to me that "Gavin" knew he was like this

EachandEveryone · 19/10/2022 13:40

Oh I wish I could hear who gets mentioned on Jeremy Vine today. Will they beable to name names?

Lol , so funny that people are surprised he’s into a bit of Charlie. Can’t think of a celebrity that isn’t, in private of course. It must be a JC thing .
Jim Carey, James Corden, Jeremy Clarkson, all total cunts IMO.

quite a few I've heard of are into the white stuff and definitely ex NDN's of mine who are in the media/music business - of course it's ok for them to do this though.

I just found out that a friend of my DB's died of a drugs OD over lockdown - no idea what and everyone of course was being very quiet/cagey over FB re his death and the causes, for a 49/50 year old man it's quite sad really.

MarshaMelrose · 19/10/2022 14:26

Im not a big fan of James Corden but I'd feel quite sick if I found a hair in my food. I'd return it, expect not to pay and wouldn't return.

On the other hand, I've no idea what's offensive about finding a bit of white in with a bit of yellow. It's the same egg, after all. So kicking off about that seems excessive.

However, the Balthazar owner sounds like an idiot. He bans him for being the worst behaved customer ever for abusing his staff. And then effuses over the basic act of an apology as if that's an amazing thing to do. I wonder if his servers agree?!

I agree that that is gross (although you can never really know if it's the customer's own hair) - but complaining doesn't equate to abuse and kicking off. It's extremely widely reported online that JC behaves appallingly with anybody junior to/serving him, so somehow, I doubt it was a case of his calmly raising his disappointment and communicating his expected resolution.

MarshaMelrose · 19/10/2022 14:39

I agree. I explained how I'd deal with it to contrast how JC dealt with it.
But if he was that abusive and then went in to being abusive a second time, isn't it inevitable it's going to happen a third? JC can't control himself obviously. So why doesn't the owner support his staff and stick to the ban? Maybe 🤑?

EndlessMagpies · 19/10/2022 14:49

Some people have an ego that has inflated to match (and in some cases, to overtake) the hype.

Wheredoallthepensgo · 19/10/2022 14:58

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 19/10/2022 10:58

He’s too big for his boots. He’s as funny as recurring thrush.

This made me proper lol

Wheredoallthepensgo · 19/10/2022 15:03

I've read that when Gavin and Stacey first hit the big time and he started to become a weapons grade wanker, that (the apparently lovely) Rob Brydon took him to one side and tried to have a quiet word about how his behaviour was affecting people.
Apparently it didn't work ...

If he did indeed ‘find’ a hair in his food and didn’t provide it himself. The guy is notorious for trying to get the bill reduced in restaurants, and for treating waitstaff like shit.

Chloefairydust · 19/10/2022 18:44

I never understand why America love this man so much? … 🤔

mycatisannoying · 19/10/2022 22:33

I loathe James Corden and always have, but no one came out of the Patrick Stewart situation looking good!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/10/2022 22:49

PS doesn't come out all that well on the many and various lovely/unlovely celeb threads on MN. He's certainly no Michael Ball!!

SpookyWookyBoo · 20/10/2022 06:16

I can't stand him.
He's just one of them celebs that looks like a wanker.
He always gave me Ellen vibes.
Nice to the stars but not the normal fans.

Plus he thinks he's some musical genius.on Carpool.

Not one good? I think yelling Corden not to be so rude/disengaged/uninterested when people were accepting their awards, was a great thing. The oaf didn't like being told and he ent sarcastic straight away.

Nannygoat151 · 20/10/2022 18:25

Never liked him. Think he’s got too big for his boots

And Jeremy Corbyn.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 20/10/2022 19:08

I don't know why people are shocked James Corden is a bit of a nob. He showed his true colours when 'Gavin and Stacey' didn't win a TV award many years ago. He threw his toys out of the pram on live TV, on the stage, at the award ceremony. Even Ruth Jones ('Nessa') said 'Oh James, don't be bitter!' Must have been 12-14 years ago. He was a nob then, and he is a nob now.

blacksax · 18/10/2022 22:29

I've never understood all the fuss about him, he's way too far up himself.

Agreed, he can actually see daylight the other end. Awful man😩

menopausalbloat · 20/10/2022 20:34

I can't watch anything with him in. Hope he stays in the US.
