I’m puzzled why Aldi at one time was pretty good for selling (non frozen) fresh vegan foods.
missing for ages has been the “chicken” Kiev, plant based mince, sausages that were equal quality to Richmond vegan sausages. They only sell frozen vegan sausage now.
They also used to sell vegan pies and vegan pizza.
I know a lot of mumsnetters hate vegan cheese, but I’m ok with it and would love to buy it at Aldi prices.
They do seem to make more of an effort for “Veganuary”, but I’m plant based all year round….
plant based/veganism is a growing market, and not a short lived fad.
I do try to mostly eat non processed, but like most other folk, I like to enjoy not cooking from scratch a couple of times a week.
I’ve also noticed in the last few weeks they’ve stopped stocking the small jars of pasta sauce. My fave was the tomato and roasted pepper one.
although the jar was comparatively small, the sauce inside was concentrated, therefore I didn’t need as much .
oooooo, I do hope an Aldi official is reading this thread and fulfill all of our wishes 🤞

Conversely I wish other supermarkets would sell the chocolate/vanilla sharing brioche loaves, my dc love them but I can only find them in Aldi. Chocolate chip rolls are NOT the same.

Decent crisps aldis are crap.

MargotMoon · 16/10/2022 20:37

I wish they'd bring back their red organic wine (Toro) and the organic prosecco. Both have been discontinued and they were the only wines I can drink without getting a headache

bangwhistle · 16/10/2022 20:39

I think it's just that it's so unpredictable what they will have. Things on my shopping list today which will have to wait for Tuesday's Ocado shop are pak choi, butternut squash, radicchio, red cabbage, butternut squash, Kellogg's Crunchy Nut, full sugar squash, miso paste, children's toothpaste... I have to do two shops a week to make it work.

Possibly because they have a limited range and the vegan stuff wasn't selling very well to the masses.

tilder · 16/10/2022 20:40

Decent coffee
Fresh bread
Branded cat food

Loose leaf teas.

A long time ago, they used to have a lovely fruit compote, which they discontinued. There were red and green versions.
Perfect in pies, crumbles, in yogurt or with ice cream.
Bring them back, Aldi.
