If we ended up with Johnson vs Starmer at the next election, who would the Red Wall Tory voters go for?

Some commentators are saying the Tories could end up with Johnson back as leader and hence PM, in the very near future. If that was the choice at the next general election, whenever it is (it has to happen by December 2024, I believe), would the Red Wall seats that went Tory last time stick with the Tories, or go back to Labour? And if you're one of those voters, what are your reasons?

Let me tell you a story..

I am a criminal investigator for modern slavery ...

When we were in the EU the vast majority of immigrants were from Eastern Europe .. they needed a National Insurance number to be able to work... they were identifiable. We could see where they went. Their 'employers' needed to take them to an interview to get their numbers... we could pick up a (small) percentage of those being exploited...

NOW (thanks to Brexit) we have NO idea... are workers are being bought over from India, Sri Lanka, etc on 'work' visas.. promises the Earth (£15 ph and 40 hrs week) and then end up doing 70 hr week at £3 ph under threat of being sent home if they don't comply ...

This IS the reality of Brexit..

Get shot of the expensive Europeans and get the 'cheap brown people in' ... absolutely does NOT reduce immigration.. just moves the Geography to the less well off.!

This is true. I've also seen it through my job

Fuck off with your Be kind bullshit. Tory voters put a lying, corrupt, arrogant, incompetent, chaotic bunch of fuckwits into power and they have wrecked the fucking country for all of us.

Instead of whining about mean people on the internet, work out why you fell for it.

This. 100%

why do you think name calling is a good idea? It’s one of the things that’s putting voters off Labour, why keep doing it?

Excuse me? Did you ever hear the smears and insults that spewed forth from De Pfeffel Johnson's mouth ? I won't repeat them but you would recognise the racist, homophobic, classist, defamatory bile...

I could never think who Steer Calmer reminds me of and then it came to me : Douglas Hurd. Bit whinier and not quite as posh.

But it doesn't matter now that Colour Me Kier has no principles. A pig's bladder on a stick would win against this bunch of incompetent crooks.

He will do some necessary but unpopular things. Then the media will anoint another Tory shyster and so on in a cycle of endless futility.

Steer Calmer sounds like something the UK needs now Grin

Had to change...

Both happens though, yes I'm sure people from all over are sneaked in and work illegally but your not correct in saying that every ee had to use a no to work!

Of course they didn't! That was one of the main gripes of people working in that level of work, suddenly they had so much competition.
People worked in all sorts of jobs that didn't require any official identification at all.

The way you have phrased it sounds like people came here officially counted in and with all sorts of officials in place.

People were free to turn up and work..many were afraid actually of being known anywhere.
