Midsomer Murders
Miss Marple
Poirot
Rosemary and Thyme (I wish they’d made more episodes!)
Escape to the Country

I’ve never heard of the Detectorists. Will have to look that up.

ThunderSocks · 15/10/2022 04:00

Yes to many that have been mentioned already:
Ghosts
The Darling Buds of May
Downton
Frasier
Gardener's World

Also, not tv or film, but Hamimommy on you tube - beautiful videos of everyday house keeping by a Korean "housewife". Sounds a bit odd, but is really lovely and relaxing. Even DP is mesmerised by it!

Jackienory · 15/10/2022 04:03

The original, “All Creatures Great and Small “.

octoberfarm · 15/10/2022 04:13

All Creatures Great and Small, The Durrells in Corfu and Hotel Portofino!

Agree on Hamimommy! Also, Ivy Kitchen, Ivy is also a Korean housewife and it is so relaxing to watch her. Her cooking/presentation of the food and lattes etc is so appetizing and her cleaning is mesmerizing, I never knew cooking and cleaning could be so aspirational 😂

Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and Midsomer Murders. Also Murder She Wrote, but they never show it anymore.

No idea why I find those soothing as they all have sad, stressful bits

Great tv shows murder she wrote every day!

I have all the episodes of Worzel Gummidge recorded and no small children to watch it with.

No children here either - mine have fledged.

So I snuggle up with my inner child and we watch it together 🙂

Matt Baker's farm in the dales.

Makes me nostalgic for things I never had.

hazandduck · 15/10/2022 16:35

Portrait/landscape artist of the year is so relaxing! Had it on in the background as I gave birth to my second child! The midwife wasn’t a fan, ha.

I put on Family Guy and American Dad to just mindlessly unwind and do other things. Makes me belly laugh.

Comfort tv will always be The Young ones, I’m Alan partridge, The Mighty Boosh, Only Fools, and the ultimate cosy programme..Vicar of Dibley.

The Wind In The Willows (1995 animated with Rik Mayall and Michael Palin) has the most relaxing music ever. It’s just beautiful. Makes me automatically feel relaxed and safe.

I am amazed someone said Stranger Things relaxes them! I watch most of it from behind my hands absolutely shitting it. Unless that was a joke 😄

Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and Midsomer Murders. Also Murder She Wrote, but they never show it anymore.

There are a couple of Freeview channels that seem to have Murder She Wrote on all the time. Flick from channel 40 onwards and you'll surely find it.

InFiveMins · 15/10/2022 17:01

Last Tango in Halifax
Gavin & Stacey
Midsomer Murders
McDonald & Dodds
The Royle Family
The Vicar of Dibley
Keeping Up Appearances

Vampirethriller · 15/10/2022 17:07

Zombie films I find very calming, and apocalyptic scenario horror. And old sitcoms like Open All Hours.

faw2009 · 15/10/2022 17:24

I like things like Long Lost Family, and Repair Shop, but also find that I can get quite tearful!! So not that relaxing!

I like quiz shows too: the Chase, House of Games, the one with Victoria Coren Mitchell.

The Good Doctor.
Young Sheldon.

Off to Google Korean housekeeping!

DamnUserName21 · 15/10/2022 17:48

80s films and Agatha Christie movies.

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 15/10/2022 17:48

Downton Abbey

Dinneronmybfpillow · 15/10/2022 19:47

Mortimer and Whitehouse Go Fishing
Grayson Perry's Art thingy
Taskmaster

Not a programme but any TV home shopping channel. Endless waffling about nothingness! I love how they can talk in an endless stream about crap jewellery/toiletries/DIY tools. Nothing ever bad ever happens on the home shopping channels 😆
